It was amazing! Such a beautiful place and so well maintained! The views are stunning, the fishing was good and the quaint little town of Dorchester is a real jewel!. I fell in love with The Driftless
Loved staying at the Lazy River Cabin and would definitely stay again! Very cozy property and perfect location on the river with quick access to other streams. Huge bonus with the hot tub, too.
This cabin is amazing. The scenery is perfect for a getaway. The river being right outside made it a nice view, good fishing, and we did a float right to the cabin. We will definitely stay here again.

Liked that the cabin was exactly as advertised. 3 bedrooms was what we wanted, and space to have our things. Was a complete property, as in its a turn key stay. Just bring your food and drink, and enjoy the wonderful views and scenery.

2.5* property in 4* location
Pro’s:Nice location and check-in was easy. Hot tub. New appliances. Investments/renovations evident - work in progress?Cons:Cleanliness (sausage link in sleeper sofa, dust bunnies. Mechanicals: AC leaked water on floor, open hole in bathroom/laundry room ceiling, 1st floor bedroom window not securely attached to house. Tears in vinyl flooring. Comfort - sleeper sofa was unusable due to extremely thin mattress. Ok stay if you limit your expectations to a 2.5* property in a 4* setting.
The cabin is large and comfortable. Excellent setup for two couples and children. Inside was clean. The outside needs some picking up, which is to be expected in early springtime in Iowa. Some of the utensils, such as the can opener and vegetable peeler, need replacing.
Surprised to see a tiny house just 500 feet from the cabin and the garage by the cabin being renovated as another cabin to rent; No one else stayed the days we did so we had the place to ourselves. It also appears that there will be more rentals going up soon, so the information and picture of the place should be updated. Otherwise, Gabby answered all questions promptly and check-in was a breeze! Enjoyed our stay!!
Overall our stay was very pleasant. The property was mostly clean but did have dead flies and ladybugs around. There was also a mouse in the lower level.
My family met with the rest of my family at this cabin for a Christmas get together. We had a relaxing time being together in the cabin. Only thing that seemed odd was the amount of lights flickering and also electricity had shut off two times while we were there. Otherwise we loved it and wonder about visiting in the summertime too.

Cabin review
We had a very nice time. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The owner did not contact us on day of arrival until later in the evening (well past check in time) I had sent a few messages the day prior with no response and no directions on how to get into the property.
My husband and our 2 dogs found the cabin very relaxing. We were able to walk right out to the river & do some fishing. Our dogs had plenty of yard space to venture around. The hot tub was a nice touch at the end of the night.
After the traffic calms down from the day, it is very peaceful and all you can hear is the nature.
Everything was as described and we enjoyed our stay :)

Beautiful spot
This was a great spot for anyone interested in convenient river access. As far as housekeeping, there was an evident deficit. Dust, toys, and garbage were found in corners of house. It was poorly cleaned and poorly maintained. Prescription medications was left in the unorganized kitched cupboards. Lack of adequate
The property was one of the nicest we have stayed in. Very clean with plenty of towels and linens. It had an amazing view of the bluffs and the river. The hot tub was clean and warm. The only downside is the same that most rwntals have, they are not accesible easily for people with mobility issues or handicaps. Bathrooms are small and cramped woth low toilets, tall toilets would help improve that. Steps were a decent angle but could use better handrails.
The 2 decks were so relaxing to sit and watch the river flow and see the brightly covered fall leaf bluffs waukon is 12 miles away and has a great source for groceries and eating. A hop skip and jump East and you are at the Mississippi. Drive to New Albin for great smoked meats and steaks for grilling. It is also home to the only meat vending machine I have ever seen. .
Beautiful setting right on the Upper Iowa River. Very private. Very clean. This was a girl's trip (5 of us) and the sleeping arrangements were perfect. We are already talking about coming back. The only issue we had was no railing on the steps going into the house (even though it was only a few steps) and railing only on one side of the steps going to the basement. We had a couple people with mobility issues and had to be very careful. We strongly suggest getting railings in those 2 places. One of the ladies actually fell at the bottom of the basement steps. Luckily she did not get hurt. Aside from that, everything was perfect. We had fun watching the Baltimore Oriole in the trees as well as other birds and watching baby bunnies hopping around.
