The house is as described and the views are amazing!! Loved watching the sunset from the deck every night. You can be in Montague for lunch or dinner in 10 minutes.
This property was exactly as stated. Great vacation spot to get away for a weekend. It is secluded and very peaceful. The house was clean. The host was great and communication was great. Would definitely recommend
Amazing property and property manager, beds not great
Amazing stay overall. Mike was a great host and helped us with sheets and towels since we came from out of state. The deck was amazingly close to the water. The cabin was charmingly rustic, as were the mattresses :)
The cabin is clean, warm, and pleasant, and the views of Lake Michigan out of just about every window are medicine for the spirit. My trip was in the winter and it offered just the solitude and quiet I was needing. I will be coming back!
This cottage was great for our mid-winter weekend getaway. It is remotely located on Lake Michigan. We were glad it was not snowy as the road would have been a challenge, but we loved the location. The cottage was clean and cozy and Mike was great with communication. We would stay again!

Big Lake Stay
Cool but comfortable, water was chilly because of two days of rain but enough sunshine for beach activities. We also rented ski boat on Silver Lake and canoed on white River. Gorgeous beach and view despite cramped quarters. We all had a great time!

Perfect!
Absolutely gorgeous views of Lake Michigan. The house was warm and welcoming as we watched the huge waves and recovered from a walk on the icy beach. Perfect!

Diane,
I am happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay at my cottage. I hope you can come back again for a little longer trip. Please contact me any time in the future.
Thanks,
Mike
The view from the patio and the sunsets were spectacular.
The stairs ( 30 )to enjoy the view were not for the "faint of heart", especially for people in their seventies or anyone with handicaps.
A wonderful, beautiful spot on Lake Michigan.
The cottage is clean , and Mike makes check in very easy . The beds are comfortable, and there are plenty of pots and pans . Lots of fresh produce to be found in the area.
Lake Michigan never disappoints and the sunsets were beautiful ! We were the only people on the beach . A perfect getaway, and a perfect place to stay !
Best beach and view, challenging inconvenient location and access. Average accommodations. Weather conditions the last week of June less than favorable and quite a bit of smoke in the air from forest fires in Canada. Despite the environmental conditions we had a good time.

Fantastic
Perfect getaway ! Everything was great . We were able to have our family come up and visit - perfect for our grandson . If you do not like stairs , or can't be without a cell phone then this is not for you . But if you want to get away from it all and hear the waves , see the sunset and enjoy the beauty then this is the place. Mike was there to greet us and answer any questions .

Nanette, Bruce and Family...
I am so happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay at my cottage. You had the whole month of July to enjoy the perfect weather. It is a very beautiful section of Lake Michigan Shoreline that is peaceful and private. Thank you for rebooking for next season for the month of July again. I am looking forward to having you and your family up to my cottage.
Best Regards,
Mike

Views as Advertised!
My wife and I visited this site in March and although the weather was as you would expect in Michigan in March (cold), the views were still great! We spent a lot of the time in the front room of the cottage just relaxing and enjoying the view from the couch. Everything inside was just as advertised and we had a great stay. I can only imagine what this place would be like in the summer. Mike was also very good to work with and was prompt with communication. We will try to make it back sometime when the weather warms up, for sure.

Dear Guest, I am very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at my cottage. It is a very unique, beautiful and pristine part of Lake Michigan shoreline (any time or season, spring, summer, fall or winter) that we are very fortunate to have in Western Michigan. I am glad you were able to make the trip over and check it out and hope you can do it again soon. There are so many more other things to experience, see and do if you get more time in the future. I look forward to seeing you come back again. Best Regards, Mike

Great place with beautiful views
I had a very positive experience during my stay here. Starting with Mike's pleasant attitude and warm hospitality from the moment we booked. He always stayed in contact with us and helped us with any concerns.
The location is beautiful. The views of Lake Michigan from the cottage are spectacular. The cottage is well kept and has cable TV and board games as well when you feel like staying in. It has the feeling of being on a private beach. Even though we ended up with cloudy days during our recent stay, we managed to get out and walk on the beach very often. I would love to rent this place again over the summer as well.

Beautiful view though not kid friendly for the outdoors
This place is beautiful very well kept And very cozy the beds were amazing the only thing I would say is the owner should update the pots and pans 😊The tephlon was peeling off into our eggs 🥺. I feel the description should say that there’s not a beachfront to the water but other than that Mike was very accommodating through text I was very happy they’re just concerned for the kids which we just shortened our stay and left early Saturday morning😦
There were mice and flies in the cottage. The bathroom and toilet smelled of urine even after a deep clean by the tenant. The toilet obviously has a leak that needs to be repaired. The cottage was listed as having central air conditioning. It does not. I does have a mobile AC unit that is unvented and pours the hot air right back in to room. The shower is the smallest shower I have ever seen. For every shower you will hit the three walls. Coffinesque would describe it best.I will never stay here again---luxury prices, ghetto accommodations.
If one seeks physical beauty, sweeping views, and a very friendly, cooperative host, it will be difficult not to really enjoy this spot. Now, are there more upscale properties? Of course. But this has all one actually needs for essential comfort: decks, endless beach, small but fully functional kitchen, cable/sat. tv, tons of greenery. And then there’s the expansive view of what for all intents and purposes is an inland ocean. This isn’t luxurious. But it does boast ample qualities that add up to wonderful, satisfying vacations. Ours was precisely that.
Sitting in the cabin or on the deck you experience the stunning view of Lake Michigan with all of it's continually changing glory! Peaceful, serene, quiet, and remote on this lovely association property with lots and lots of nature surrounding you - yet you are 15-20 minutes from the store. And oh my, the sunsets...
If you like to cook, it's all here. If you like walking the beach, it's lovely! If you like to relax, you've come to the right place! If you like solitude (my trip was on the shoulder season) this cabin won't dissapoint!
If you are looking for fancy and brand new, you won't find it. This is a lovely comfy place. If stairs are an issue, there are stairs to get to the cabin and to the beach. If dirt roads are an issue, you are going to drive on one. Like a previous review, wise to arrive before sundown as a first timer!
The owner, Mike is responsive, communicative and friendly.
Perched on top of a sand cliff, with great view of Lake M.
This is a truly outstanding location, with 180 degree view on the lake, its waves and its sunsets. Cozy for 3-4 people, but sleeps more. Mike was highly accommodating and responsive. For instance, there was a fence blocking the view, put to prevent erosion. I asked if it was ok to remove it (a 10 min job) and he said yes right away. I was just disappointed that the deck was blocked off, as it has partially collapsed, turning a gorgeous view point into a partial block of the view from the house. I hope Mike can remove it, or fix it, asap, as it is rather unsightly in its current half collapsed state, marring the view. And maybe post pictures of it, so it does not come as a disappointment on arrival ?
Overall, a great place, I hope to come back (after deck is taken care of!) and I recommend it fully.
We had an amazing time at this property! The view is breathtaking & there was LOTS of beach this year. Kids loved swimming & the sunsets. The house has new siding & a new deck on the other side w/ new stairs, which was not shown in the pictures. The new deck is fantastic! Just be aware that there are about 48 steps from the deck to the beach. It was tiring to carry our infant child, but the kids managed just fine. There are also about 20 steps leading from the car to the house, which, to be honest, was tough while carrying all our things, especially all that small children require. It might be difficult for those with young families that pack more or for people with physical limitations. The listing mentioned A/C, but there wasn't anything upon arrival. We did find a portable A/C in the closet, & when I asked the owner about it, he said it worked and we could install it. The install was easy, but it would have been nice if it was already taken care of. We were mostly concerned for our infant daughter not to overheat while sleeping. There was an ant problem in the kitchen. There were ant traps, but they didn't do anything. We cleaned up everything immediately & kept our food in an airtight container that we brought. It was a little hard with little kids, but we will definitely return in a couple years!Â

Cozy home with beautiful view
My family and I were driving up the Wednesday before Thanksgiving from 6 hours south. Mike was very patient and accommodating, waiting for us even when we were about 2 hours behind schedule. We followed his car back to the property, which was very helpful because it was a bit hidden among twisty roads and beautiful trees. Mike showed us around and explained everything that we would need to know. About 30 minutes after Mike left, we discovered we didn't have any water. I called him and he immediately turned around to come back, and it was a very easy fix as they had shut the water off earlier to do something and just forgot to turn it back on. I was grateful he came back so quickly.
The view from the cottage is beautiful - we enjoyed seeing the bright full moon every morning above the lake. We also had a really nice walk on the beach on Black Friday.
The beds were very comfortable, we were really warm and cozy every night with the electric heaters (along the walls close to the floors). One thing to note if you are staying here with crawling infants in the winter, you may want to leave the heaters off in the main living area so they cannot hurt themselves. We didn't have any problems because our 6 month old isn't mobile yet and our 2.5 year old understood not to touch.
Overall, this was a great place to stay for the long holiday weekend. We loved waking up to the beautiful view of Lake Michigan every morning. We were very comfortable and cozy and grateful to Mike for sharing his home.

Kate and Family,
I am glad to hear that you had a safe trip back home. I was more than happy to wait for you guys to make it in. Especially since you had the 8 hour trip traveling with your young children. Thanks for the heads up on the electric base board heat. I was able to go online and find a company that makes a childproof cover for them. It looks like the covers will work pretty good. I hope you guys can make it back again in the future.
Best Regards,
Mike
About the host
Hosted by Mike Anderson
I have been going to this Lake Michigan beach location with my family for over 50 years. Very unique location with various activities such as fishing, hunting, canoeing, golf, horseback riding, swimming, and walking the pristine Lake Michigan beach front in Oceana County.
Why they chose this property
Beautiful pristine Lake Michigan shoreline not usually available to the general public. This area is all family owned and very private and secluded beachfront.
What makes this property unique
The adjoining natural wetlands of Big Flower Creek that is accessible from this location gives you the ability to view the natural wildlife in the area as well as the benefits of the beach.
