About this property

Mulberry Cottage Farm-Stay. A unique farm-stay in Southern Iowa

Turn off your phone and unwind on the porch with a beverage while watching birds and distant grazing cattle. Mulberry Cottage Farm Stay has a pond view and is situated on a 200-acre working cattle ranch and is divided by a wading creek and hiking trails. You are shaded by Mulberry and Osage Orange trees, home to frequent birdlife. We love the solitude and rest here on the farm while still enjoying a short drive to town. Fresh sourdough bread with Mulberry preserves, and farm fresh eggs are provided for your breakfast.

Experience where your food comes from by visiting our farm store, gathering eggs, or tasting vegetables out of the garden. Your eyes will be opened to our sustainable practices and how agriculture related activities can be fun and rewarding. Pitch hay, try pond fishing, call the cows, view wildlife, or attend the Indianola Farmers Market. You can watch how farmers and ranchers conduct daily animal husbandry and steward the land and surrounding environment. Consider visiting us as you cycle across the great state of Iowa during the 2026 Ragbrai, visit the Balloon festival or join in one of the many music festivals in the area. Be reminded that this is a working farm/ ranch where lanes and driveways are dirt and gravel and surfaces may be uneven. Pond fishing is available if you bring your own gear.

We want to share our knowledge and experience of interacting with the animals and the peace that comes from simple homesteading practices.
David and I both have backgrounds in education while David has raised cattle throughout his lifetime. We are Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certified, which assures beef customers that our animals are humanely raised and transported. Our farm-raised beef is free of steroids, anti-biotics and hormones. Out of our farm store, our customers are welcomed to try a variety of individual cuts or custom bundle. During your farm-stay, you are welcome to purchase our beef. Customers are encouraged to come and see where their beef comes from and take a farm tour, or just drop by for coffee. The farm is located 20 minutes south of Indianola IA.
