About this property

Beautiful Riverfront Antique Farmhouse

Our antique farmhouse (Circa 1830) sits directly on the Otter Creek River for a perfect Vermont getaway with all the indoor and outdoor space you could need. Whether you like to be in a boat or simply enjoy watching them go by, our house on the river offers unprecedented opportunities to relax! Bring your own boat (or use our canoe and kayaks) and put it in right at the house to enjoy a quiet paddle down the river, or motor to the Vergennes waterfalls or right out to Lake Champlain. Both the river and the lake offer terrific fishing.

You will see beautiful sunrises over the Green Mountains from the River Room, and sunsets over the Adirondacks. Lake Champlain is a 5 minute drive as is the lovely city of Vergennes, where you can enjoy shopping and restaurants. A 20 minute trip in the car will bring you to Middlebury to the South or Shelburne to the North, and Burlington is waiting just beyond. Other nearby attractions include: Basin Harbor Club (golf, restaurants), Button Bay State Park, Maritime Museum, Shelburne Museum, Rokeby Museum, Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, and within 45 minutes you can be skiing at Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, or Middlebury College's Snow Bowl.

The house is very comfortable with a well-equipped, modern kitchen and plenty of room. The master bedroom has a queen bed and beautiful river views. Another bedroom has a double bed, the third has a queen and a twin, and the fourth has bunk beds as well as a trundle bed. There are two large living rooms, a breakfast nook, formal dining room, and a screened porch. We provide plenty of board games, puzzles, a DVD player and WiFi to enjoy during your stay. Gather around the wood stove in the winter or build a campfire in the fire-pit outside in any season.

This house offers a unique getaway in all four seasons, taking advantage of all Vermont has to offer. Come and enjoy our wonderful home with your family.

A beautiful spot
A really great, comfy country home with a beautiful lawn, hammock, and little dock on otter creek with kayaks. An awesome setting for kids with the lovely town of Vergennes nearby. We loved Button Bay for swimming, lots of great nearby hikes, and good proximity to Burlington and Middlebury. Hosts were easy to communicate with and super nice.

Great Farmhouse
Lovely farmhouse outside of Vergennes-property has all the outdoor things from horseshoes, fishing rods, hammock, grill & firepit! The inside is well stocked, plenty of space to sleep & so many games/puzzles to enjoy. The only downfall is that the house does not have A/C & even with all the fans, it was impossible to cool off the house to sleep. Besides that, I would recommend this place to any family wanting to enjoy Addison county!

Second stay - already looking forward to future visits
This is a wonderful gem in the Vergennes area and very convenient to Route 7 and beyond. We have stayed there as a family twice and enjoyed both visits immensely. This is a wonderful rural older house with tons of character and enough modern amenities to make you feel right at home, The creekside setting is quite refreshing with plenty of room on property to roam...to say nothing about the extended area, which is similarly delightful. The owners are incredibly communicative and a quick text or phone call away. You will not be disappointed in any way with this property.

Creek home get away
Farmhouse was spacious with an awesome room to watch the creek go by. Close enough to town to pick up a maple latte and visit shops and seek out restaurants. Close enough to take a day trip to Burlington and other areas. Always great to come back to a relaxing quiet and beautiful setting

Lovely remote country gem
Our family (6 members from 3 branches of our clan) enjoyed a fantastic stay right outside Vergennes in this lovely country house. Situated right alongside Otter Creek, there is TONS of room inside and outside the house for plenty of friends and/or family. The house has a ton of charm and enough modern conveniences to meet expectations. The owners were very communicative and easy to work with on all fronts. You won't be disappointed if looking for a quiet getaway in rural Addison County.

We loved our stay! It provided everything we needed and wanted. The house was large and well supplied with not only necessary items but with many extras. The property was on the Otter Creek providing natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The owners were warm and very helpful. We will return.

Great for family with different ages
My extended family stayed over Labor Day weekend to attend a wedding in the area. The ages ranged from 10 years to 79 years. There was something in the house to interest everyone. The kids loved the swing and the games provided. My mother loved the screened in porch with the beautiful view. Others enjoyed going out on the kayaks. The kitchen was great for preparing meals for everyone. Laurie, the owner, was attentive and responsive. We are planning to return next year to see the fall foliage.

Fireflys!
Every night, we were treated to a mesmerizing display of fireflies. They danced about the large fields surrounding this beautiful home. The location is excellent. You are near to Lake Champlain, many Vt. State Parks, and the cute City of Vergennes. Burlington and Middlebury are also just a short drive away. The house is well appointed with generous spaces for relaxation and games, while also sitting right on the Otter Creek--all the better for taking the kayaks out. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was a gem with a large stove and sink and one of the quietest dishwashers I have found. Finally, we really enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the bird songs with our morning coffee. What a great place to play and relax. We loved it.

Wonderful farmhouse in rural Champlain Valley Vt
Beautifully updated farmhouse with a lot of old fashioned charm but also washer/dryer, modern kitchen, 2 bathrooms. On a river (complete with kayaks). Near Vergennes which is a lovely town with bakeries, restaurants, bars plus useful stuff like supermarket, hardware store, etc. We had a wonderful time as did the friends and grown kids who visited us.

A slice of paradise
This is our 2nd time staying at this property because it is the perfect getaway. We love everything about the place: the kitchen, the fire pit, hanging out on the dock, doing puzzles, the swing. . . It is the perfect place to disconnect and put your cares in the rear view mirror. Laurie is very attentive.

Can’t Wait to Return
For 72 years my husband’s family has vacationed along Lake Champlain in the Vergennes area. It started with a husband and wife and their new baby, and while the original husband and wife have passed on, that baby and her two brothers all have children and grandchildren of their own now that return to the area year after year. Because we’ve grown so, we accommodate multiple houses. And this year some of us decided to move to a larger, more convenient home with a yard for our young children to enjoy— we chose to stay on Otter Creek for these comforts, and brought our pontoon to boat out to the lake each day. This property is perfect for large families! Plenty of space to spread out both inside and out, plus a washer & dryer and dishwasher to boot! It is well stocked with not only dishes, pots, & pans, but also with toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, & detergents. All amenities are as listed, including the kayaks & canoes (with tons of life jackets), fire pit, swing in the yard, fooseball table, and poker table. Laurie is a great host! The home is clean, but the sunroom furniture is well loved, so it is not in pristine condition—that didn’t keep us from enjoying them as much as past guests! Definitely favorite room of the house. Earwigs and mosquitoes were hard to deter, but being by the water and also in the midst of a rainy July. Just remember your bug spray! Ultimately we loved the home and can’t wait to return next year!

Lovely Home
We all loved our stay. After driving cross country this home was the perfect place for two weeks of rest and relaxation, but also lots of activities available: kayaking all the way out to the lake, kids (and dog) spent hours jumping off the dock, swinging under the apple tree, and adults loved the screened in porch. Only downside were all the mosquitoes which managed to find their way into the house - despite our best efforts we got lots of bites and had to clean up little bug bodies every day but that's life in Vermont in the summer.
