The cottage was the perfect rental for our family of three and dog. The cottage was well maintained and had everything needed for a week long trip. The lake and surrounding property was beautiful. Mike and Kathy were friendly, helpful and all around great hosts.
We had a great stay at the Texas cottage. It was cute, cozy and comfortable. We loved the wrap around deck and peaceful view of the lake in the mornings and evenings. My boys loved fishing off the dock and exploring the lake in the kayaks. Mike and Kathy were so welcoming and wonderful hosts.
We loved the cabin and lakeside amenities. Easy to book, easy to locate, woodsy feel. Close to Traverse City and all conveniences you could need. Will rebook next year!
Wonderful property with an amazing view. Close to all the fun of Traverse City but far enough away for a peaceful cabin experience. Owners were friendly and attentive. My dog and family would definitely book here again.
Loved our stay at the Texas cottage. Mike and Kathy were terrific hosts. The gated wrap around deck was so perfect for our pup but would also be great for young children. Nicely appointed and decorated. And you can’t beat the location. Highly recommended!
Great experience. Mike and family treated us like family. Peaceful setting, great with our pup with wrap around porch. Alot of water toys, campfire, treats from the area. Gorgeous weather for enjoying nature and kayaking. Nearby Traverse City has much to do, enjoyed it all but it all starts with the hosts and the waterfront cabin!
Stayed in the off season. Loved the location of the cabin, peaceful quiet lake setting. Traveled with our dog and the inclosed deck was perfect. The size of the cabin was comfortable for my husband, myself and the dog. Easy to get to the downtown and other surrounding areas. Loved our stay will definitely being returning again.
This cabin is a gem! It was beautifully decorated, spotless, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. My husband and I enjoyed listening to the wildlife while drinking our coffee in the morning before heading out to explore the area, kayaking or chilling at the cabin for the day.
We can’t wait to come back!
The house is small but comfortable. It's clear the owners put a lot of effort into making it nice. Sitting and watching the lake was so peaceful. When issues came up the owners were very responsive & on top of things. Overall a lovely stay.
My family of 4 stayed for the memorial day weekend, and enjoyed our stay. The small touches were so appreciated - there was coffee and fun snacks waiting for us along with a kind note. The house matched the pictures and descriptions perfectly. The area was very quiet, and beautiful, with excellent access to great places for walking and running. And of course the house is right on the lake!

This was the most beautiful little cabin! Very clean, very comfortable, and the hosts were super sweet! My husband, dog, and myself had a blast!!! I would recommend this rental to EVERYONE. It was hands down best experience!
Perfect from start to finish! Adorable gift basket welcomed us and the cottage was just adorable. Very comfortable and had everything in the kitchen one would need. Beds were great and the lakefront living was simply amazing. Easy access to "downtown" TC and tons of hiking and biking. Hosts were easy to reach and very kind (they live on property). I would love to return sometime and highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking in the area!
This cabin is located on a beautiful, calm, peaceful lake. The cabin has everything you need & is so warm & welcoming. It’s in a perfect place to stay to enjoy both the lake & day trips. We enjoyed spending time at the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, downtown Traverse City, Fishtown, North Port & Sutton Bay. Fishing & kayaking everyday. Highly recommend this property. The owners are amazing! They treated us like family.
The cabin is directly on the lake with everything you would need to enjoy nature at its best. Fully loaded kitchen, coffee bar and all utensils you would need. The dock was perfect for star gazing or to just sit and enjoy the beauty of it all. The nightly fires on the beach roasting marshmallows brought back childhood memories. I would highly recommend this cabin.Mike and Kathy are the perfect hosts. They would respond to any questions or concerns if any. This was a 5 plus rating for us. We will definitely be back for summer and fall colors again.
We really enjoyed our stay on Bass Lake. We were able to take the kayaks out a couple or mornings and our dog loved the access to the lake. The cabin and the kitchen are very well stocked with everything you need. We were there just as the leaves are starting to change. I bet it will be really pretty. The location was great. Not too far from Traverse city, sleeping bear dunes, and wine tasting on the peninsulas. Would love to come back.
Our second time staying at this lovely and peaceful little retreat. Mike and Kathy are great hosts and start your visit with a welcome basket of tasty local snacks. The cottages are clean, comfortable, and have everything you need. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and dock, taking the available kayaks out to the little islands, and using the nice grill to prepare delicious fresh fish. Location is perfect because it’s only 15 minutes to Traverse City but is located far from the main road so it is quiet and surrounded by nature. We loved hearing the resident loon family each night and watching lots of herons, kingfishers, and other birds. Super bonus that we could bring our dog too, so the whole family could be together. We will be back!
My husband and I had the privilege to stay here along with our dog and it is everything that is promised. The cozy lil cottage on Bass Lake is exactly what we needed for an autumn weekend getaway. Our dog loved the property right away and it immediately felt like a home away from home. Less than a half hour from Traverse City’s famous wineries and even less time away from downtown TC itself, we were able to enjoy a fun, dog-friendly weekend that is so important to young couples like ourselves, who don’t want having a “fur baby” to prevent you from getting away and enjoying upper Michigan’s wonders in early Fall. I highly recommend this stay, and thank Kathy and Mike again for their hospitality. 🐾❤️
This charming cabin provided us the quiet peaceful escape we were looking for. Tucked away from the business of Traverse City but close enough to explore the the area. The cabin was full of thoughtful touches and our kids thoroughly enjoyed the nightly fires, s'mores and time by the lake to throw rocks, sticks and listen to the birds.
Clean, adorable cottage on Bass Lake. We primarily booked it to relax and fish. The location was perfect, close to many attractions. The only complaint is that the beach and dock are a shared space and that isn’t relayed in the description.
