The house is charming, featuring three bedrooms and a great detached office/exercise space in a very convenient neighborhood. However, our 17-night stay didn’t quite live up to the expectations set by the listing photos and previous reviews. While the essentials are provided, the property would benefit significantly from better maintenance and attention to detail.Outside, the gutters and side alley needed clearing of dead vegetation. This lack of upkeep extended indoors, where we noticed a musty odor upon arrival—likely exacerbated by a missing furnace air filter. The Vallejo winter was cold and rainy, and we were unable to open windows for ventilation, which made the indoor air feel stifling. The common area furniture was not very comfortable to sit in or lounge, and the kitchen felt cluttered with some unwashed items left behind. We also found a smoke detector tucked away in a drawer rather than installed, which is a safety concern. While the bedrooms are functional with comfortable beds, they lack a cozy, finished feel, and the linen closet was quite disorganized. Finally, the Wi-Fi was inconsistent, and the host, while courteous, took five days to remediate the problem. Individually, these are small issues, but collectively they impacted the quality of our long-term stay. Although the house is functional and would likely feel better in sunny weather, the combination of the humid winter and the lack of interior comfort made it difficult for us to feel at ease.
