The house was amazing!! We enjoyed the peace and quiet. We definitely are looking at booking another trip. The host was extremely helpful and offered information about the area.
This Casita was so close to our family and made visiting with ease. We had pleasant time relaxing and catching up with family. Didn't plan to BBQ but conveniently everything was available for us to do that. We also loved the kitten that has made the property her home. We are already booked to go again lol!
Pros:Serene/tranquil getaway from busy urban/suburban lifestyle. Saw some wildlife dawn and dusk.Magnolia Gardens River Beach is just 1-2 mins drive. (Not too crowded but water is muddy and the beach does get trashed towards the evening)15 mins away from nearest townCons:Property is old and small which is fine but it's not well maintained. Cleanliness was poor. The toilet was dirty and the shower floor had hair all over it. The area rugs on the floor and the covers on the couches were dirty. Had to adjust the toilet flush each time so water wouldn't leakCould not use more than one appliance at a time. If both microwave and electric water heater was used at the same time, the circuit breaker would tripThe lights around the bon fire area was not working (only one small spot light was working)The neighborhood seems deserted and seemed like a dumping ground. Lots of trash and abandoned vehicles lying around. saw some stray dogs roaming the area as well

We’re disappointed by this review, as it misrepresents both the property and the stay.
This is an older, well-loved home with quirks and charm—exactly as described in the listing (view here). We are completely transparent about what guests should expect: a secluded, rustic getaway surrounded by nature, not a brand-new build or resort-style property. Many of our guests appreciate that for what it is.
We have time-stamped photos taken just prior to your check-in showing the property was clean and properly prepared. The claims about filth or disrepair are exaggerated and simply not accurate.
As for the surrounding area: it’s true that illegal dumping in rural communities like ours is an ongoing challenge. We actively report and clean up when it occurs, and we work with local authorities—but this is a public road, not a gated development. It’s not something we can fully control, and we note the area's rural nature clearly in our listing.
Lastly, the dogs you saw are not strays—they are owned by nearby residents, which again, we mention in the listing. This is a small, country neighborhood, not a high-security subdivision. Expecting anything different means the listing wasn’t properly reviewed before booking.
We’re always open to honest feedback, but mischaracterizations like this don’t help future travelers. We stand behind our home and the experience we offer—and encourage guests seeking a quiet, nature-rich escape to come with realistic expectations.

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Feb 2024 Review
There was no hot water in the shower depsite the owner allegedly making various adjustments. Owner recommemnded turning on bathroom sink's cold water, so that shower would warm.
The property is advertised as having a full kitchen. There is no oven, dishwasher or electric coffee maker.
The property is advertised as RUSTIC. The general neighborhood appears to be a dumping ground. There are old tires, vehicles, garbage, etc, throughout the neighborhood.
There are numerous loose/wild dogs that roam the area.
There are numerous un-enclosed electric conduit boxes in the interior and exterior of the property. The breakbox was unsecured and open to the elements.
There was garbage in the kitchen and bathroom garbage cans upon my arrival. There were dirty dishes left on the counter. There were several cups/ clear jars on the counter that had fluid and food in them.
The property was litered with debris. Scrap wood, broken swings, plastic buckets/pots. There was a broken gas grill (missing 2 wheels) underneath the decking.
The listing stated there was a gym on site. No gym was located on teh property. The owners stated that there was a "Total Gym" on the property that was folded up and put away.
We were to stay for 2 weeks. We left after 4 days. A check of Google Earth shows images of the area from back in 2011-12. It appears that since then, there has been a major disaster or two (flooding/hurricane/etc).

Thanks for your feedback. Let's straighten a few things out:
Hot Water: We nailed down the issue right after you left—a faulty heater element, now fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience; the timing was unfortunate.
Kitchen Touches: Those cups you noticed? We're sprouting garlic and green onions for our living kitchen vibe. Adds a little life to the place, we think.
Dishes and Cleanliness: The dishes were indeed clean, just left out to dry—a miss on our part for not putting them away. And about the trash, that was a genuine oversight by our cleaning crew, for which we are sincerely sorry. We're on it to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Neighborhood & Ambiance: Yes, our cabin is nestled in nature, not the suburbs. We're doing our bit alongside the community to keep the area looking good, but it’s a bit of a wild charm out here.
Safety Checks: The breaker box is always meant to be secure. It's possible the plumber didn't close it properly, but we've since added a lock to prevent future oversights.
We understand our rustic, rural cabin might not be for everyone. It offers a unique experience that strays from the conventional hotel vibe, aiming for cozy and quaint instead. It seems we missed the mark for what you were expecting, and for that, we're genuinely sorry.
