The best stay ever!!!

From the host , to the house and the lake. Everything was amazing and perfect. House was so clean and beautiful. My family had the best Easter there! Will be returning and recommending!

Great place. Plenty of room

We had a great time with family. Even though we got alot of rain and didn't get to fish like we had hoped the kids were entertained with the game room and we enjoyed bbqing under the garage and sitting on the patio with family. We will be back!

Mothers Day Weekend

Had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend, property is very peaceful with something for everyone. So happy they allowed dogs, as ours have a great time playing in the lake as well as having the freedom to run around with the property being fully fenced in. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to relax.

Weekend getaway

Perfect place on the lake. In side had everything we needed when we were inside escaping the heat of the day. Outside had a wonderful set up to sit around and enjoy a nice beverage or doing some bbqing. It was nice being on the water could swim and fish right from the property.

Amazing Waterfront View

We really enjoyed our stay in Mathis. The property owner is very welcoming, responsive, and helpful. It's exciting to have so many activities available right there on the property. Kayaking ended up being my favorite. The home is very comfortable and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again

Memorial Day Get Away

It would have been so nice if the lake levels were up and the heat wasn't so bad. The house was nice and comfortable. The king size bed popped and rattled every time we moved, but it was still comfortable.

Amazing Sunsets

Our pups enjoyed the large fenced yard and we LOVED the amazing sunsets every evening! The water level is very low so we had no luck fishing but the peace and tranquility of this property was what we needed.

Glad you pups enjoyed the property. Yea unfortunately the water is low but plenty of water to swim. There is such a gradual drop that the fish is not great right in front of the property but if you walk out to the pennisuala it gets deep quick and the fishing is good there.

Peaceful lake retreat

It is a very peaceful location on the lake with a fenced in yard that worked great for our dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and the landlord finished a game room while we were there. It has a pool table, air hockey, arcade, dart board tv and Xbox. It is very nice

Weekend getaway

Spent my birthday weekend here. Had a great time! This house was comfortable, very clean, and relaxing. It comes with all the amenities, and more, of a lakehouse. From dishes to spices, life jackets, kayaks, fishing gear, large barbecue pit, and so much more. The backyard leads directly to the lake and private pier. We will definitely be returning soon!

We definitely try to provide everything you need for a lake property to have a good time with your family. We even added a game room since your stay with a dartboard, pool table, and X-box. Oh and a airhockey table.

A Great Getaway

The property had many accommodations and activities to do during the stay. From the living/sleeping spaces, the game room, and the outdoor spaces. There was plenty to do. The water was lower than shown in the photo (the water was not close to the dock like the photo, had to walk to get to the shore). Host had good communication and answered all questions. Highly recommend unless the water level is a deal breaker.

Property was fine but there is no water under the dock.

The drought has hit this lake a lot since the pictures were taken showing water under the dock. It still worked as a jumping off point for coastal fishing but the water is probably 30 yards from the dock so it did not offer easy fishing near the back yard like we had hoped. Maybe update the pics to current and don't say, "We still have water."

Lake Stay

The picture on line is not the true picture. The online picture had the pier in the water & information about the property was do not jump off the pier for it is shallow water. There is no water, hard ground. I chose this property so my grandson could fish off the pier. The picture on line needs to be the actual picture so you are not disappointed when you arrive. There needs to be some yard maintenance outside also, it’s messy. I do not think the cost was worth it. Respectfully, AK

Thank you, AK, for taking the time to share your experience. I’m sorry to hear the stay didn’t meet your expectations, especially regarding your grandson’s hopes to fish from the pier. I always aim to make every guest's stay enjoyable and regret that the water level impacted your plans. To clarify for future guests: there is a recent photo of the property on the website with a visible date stamp so guests can see up-to-date conditions. I also personally contact guests prior to arrival to discuss the lake levels and any questions to ensure clarity and comfort. While water levels can vary seasonal and we are in a drought and is something outside our control—we do have lake access via a private boat ramp, which allows guests to drive closer to the water. Many guests also enjoy walking the land in search of arrowheads from the Karankawa Indians, relaxing by the firepit (firewood is provided), or spending time in our game room with family and friends. As for the outdoor maintenance, thank you for that feedback. I’m always working to improve the guest experience and appreciate constructive suggestions. The wood piles on the property is intended for the firepit. I hope you'll consider visiting again during a time when the lake is fuller—it's truly a beautiful and peaceful retreat. Wishing you and your grandson many memorable trips ahead.

Great weekend getaway

We had a great time hanging out all day in the lake watching the sunset. Having kayaks available for guest was truly the highlight of our trip, there were 2 kayaks and several life vest and floats available for guest. The lake is low right now but its just a couple of minutes walk from the back yard. I loved the master bedroom with the sitting area and nice new updated bathroom. My older teens loved hanging out in the game room and playing pool all night. Dogs loved the big yard with lots of shady areas. Kitchen had everything we needed and lots of extras. HEB was a quick drive away if you need anything. House was nice and cold with ceiling fans everywhere. At night we all relaxed watching movies bundled on the comfy couch. The owner was wonderful to communicate with. We were really enjoying our stay so much we were able to add an extra night to our stay.
