I would love to have your group back anytime.
Thank you Sharlene 😊
We will be back, absolutely stunning, comfortable, relaxing and open! Sight to be seen, character oozes throughout, wholesome riches and cleverness all around! Love, LOVE Spirit of Curlew Lake!
Incredible property in a beautiful location. Very spacious and open inside, with plenty of room for our group. Easy and friendly communication with Sharlene. Highly recommend staying here!
Property is stunning. Love the layers, decor, views, and more. Clean and tidy, everything worked, plenty of room and easy access to everything the area has to offer. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a remarkable and memorable visit.
Sharlene's property has a beautiful view of Curlew Lake. It is very spacious and accommodated our large group with areas for kids, teens, and adults. I was impressed by the many extras provided: spices, condiments, a large variety of cooking pans and serving dishes, games for inside and out, plenty of paper towels and toilet paper. We had a wonderful time with our family and will return to this house if possible in the future.

Wonderful home set on a bluff above the lake. It was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed our week getting away from everything. Sherry was accessible, flexible and super friendly. We had a great time! Can’t wait to go back!

Thanks for staying with us and your kind review. Just letting you know we are always adding to the property. Just brought in a couple more kayaks for guest convenience from the house to take anywhere you wish in Ferry County. Look forward to having you again.

Great property. Perfect for multiple families. It is not that close to the water -- steep hike down trail. We went to nearby State Park to enjoy the lake with the kids. The rail trail is just down the road and offers a family friendly hike along the lake. Owner was helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
My family and I rented this house for new years weekend. Great communication with the property owner, and was allowed to check in a few hours early! The view of the lake is beautiful! Close to town and restaurants, about a 10 minute drive. The house is huge, with plenty of sleeping space and restrooms. Overall, a great experience!
The house was beautiful with spectacular views of the lake. The kitchen was a great place to gather with the family. Close to walking trail and not too far from town. Our host was very responsive with communications and helpful with questions. Would definitely recommend to others.
The house was pretty clean. The only thing I would say was negative about the cleanliness is that it had a very musty moisture smell to it that hit you every time you walked in the house after being out and about. The house was very comfortable for my family of 4 as 2-3 other family members couldn’t make it last minute. Ultimately, I would stay again if I had 6-8 people coming along.

Hello Daniel
I just went personally to Spirit of Curlew lake to check out misty smell
My last guest had not mentioned nor has anyone else...
What I did do was double cleaned front loader laundry and changed cleaning supplies to lemon sent .
Maybe eucalyptus base cleaning products smelt different to you.
Would love to have your party back.
Thank you Sharlene 😊
Good ice fishing! Love the heated tile! 6 guys, all over 50 had a great stay! Having the driveway plowed and sanded was super nice for access! Thank you… took us a while to figure out light switches (might install small labels?). Of course we are all over 50! 😂 awesome place!
This is probably the cleanest rental we have ever used! Love the decor. A ton of personality throughout the home. The trail to the water was a bit too steep for us, but that was no issue, as the train trestle is just down the street. The kayaks are awesome. Kids all caught fish. A beautiful home that I highly recommend.

We had a great time at Sharlene’s place. The private bay was a big hit! It was a short hike down a little trail which opened up to a quiet bay. We swam and fished there every day. Sharlene provided an aluminum boat and we brought a large inflatable boat. The deep fire pit was also a big plus, with s’mores all around. We played outdoor games in the volleyball area. The kids also played on the swing set on the property. Sharlene always answered my texts immediately and was very helpful. We would definitely recommend this for a family gathering. We had 6 adults, 4 kids and a dog.

The location of the house and views were great. The house had lots of plants which left seeds all over the couches and floor which we had to constantly brush off. Another reason why we wouldn’t give this 5 stars is the internet was very slow. My husband tried to do some work remotely and could not use zoom. The communication was great but the cleanliness of the house and lack of internet made it not ideal.

Im glad you enjoyed your stay
I see in your notes booking was for 2 adults
my house keeper said all the beds were used
Maybe that saved you extra cleaning fee and why internet was slow
Probably 9 extra computers
I am sorry about the plants sheading usually real plants do shed a couple leaves
In 20 years I always here something new

What an amazing property!!! Perfect location, breathtaking views and a host that went above and beyond with ideas for surrounding activities. Huge property with allllll the room you could need. The balcony’s were to die for. I gave 4stars on cleanliness due to a musty basement room. This room was clean and tidy but was located in the basement with a window that has their irrigation system above it so water drips down and I’m assuming that would be the reason for the smell. Please do not get me wrong, it wasn’t overwhelming or unusable, it just had a slight musty smell. With all the rooms, you could avoid it and not even know. The kayaks are ready and available for use and the fire pit is a must see! The basement is like its own property/apartment with a kitchen, patio, bathroom, living area and ping pong table. There are beautiful and well maintained plants throughout the house with cascading foliage around every corner. The beds were wonderful and I am a mattress snob so the fact that I’m adding this is huge. I very rarely find a rental with comfortable beds. If ever in the area, I highly recommend staying here for peace, comfort and all the space needed both inside and out.Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable Leslie

Lovely home with great view, but the lake is not easily accessible.
This is a lovely home with a lot of space and different activities available. You must drive to the State Park to launch boats and for water access. There is a very steep trail across the road from the house, but it is too steep to carry kayaks up and down, and the water in the cove was stagnant and not suitable for swimming. (This was the only disappointment). The upper level is lovely, but there are no doors or full walls around the tub and toilet. However, both the main floor and lower floor have bathrooms as well.

We appreciate our guests very much however its important we review the comments for substance. There is no need to carry kayaks down to the dock below as we inform prior that we keep five kayaks with paddles there ready to launch. For your convenience we have three more kayaks above which are on a trailer and for your option to take to other rivers and lake launch sites.
Regards the comments on water quality there is a partial algae bloom that gets worse in hottest weather. We don't control that but our county is funding algae removal and its ongoing.
About the open concept master bath yeah its open and no extra walls...but there are three other enclosed bathrooms in the house. Surprising that bothered you when you were happy prior in a cabin with a single lavatory.
We strive to provide exceptional guest comfort. Many guests return again and again because of their positive experience with us.
Have a nice day.
Sincerely
Sharlene Ketrenos
The property is beautiful! My favorite feature is the beautiful light, tall painted ceilings, and balconies and views. The aspen leaves outside some of the window were mesmerizing. We stayed here for a family reunion and there was plenty for everyone to do. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, badminton, ping pong, and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with essentials. Two refrigerators helped store all our food, and there was plenty of space for over a dozen people to enjoy each other’s company. Air conditioning worked well and we were able to access free an open network WIFI. The beds were comfortable, and I especially appreciated the crisp cotton sheets. The owner was always available, very helpful and kind.
Some things you should be aware of (I knew to expect them from previous reviews)
1. The property has four bedrooms two full bathrooms and an extra powder room/toilet on the main level. The master suite is actually a beautiful loft upstairs with a queen bed and a twin bed. It is completely open concept. The is a toilet, sink, and a tub are in a large nook in the corner but *they are mostly out in the open*. There is a free standing dressing divider that we put in front of the toilet, but even so, no one felt comfortable using those facilities. If you sleep in the loft, you will hear everything that goes on in the main floor, and those in the main floor will hear you.
2. It’s not perfect for everyone. I would not feel comfortable having a toddles, someone with mobility challenges, or someone with severe allergies in this property. The home is decorated with many antiques, collectibles, and live plants. One of the plants was flowering and shedding and had an unpleasant odor. There are a lot of stairs and uneven ground outside for accessing all the extra activities. The foot path leading to the private dock with the kayaks is narrow and rugged. While my 72-year-old dad was able to use it, I found some difficulty with the uneven terrain.
3. Everyone who swam in the lake got swimmers itch. Like the rugged terrain, this isn’t something the owner can control. If you swim in the lake on a warm day be sure to rinse off and towel dry immediately. We made the mistake of sun bathing in the nearby public beach, unknowingly making ourselves more susceptible to the burrowing wrigglers.
Overall I’m delighted to have found this place and would happily return.

The Spirit of Curlew Lake is my canvas on which i have painted with passion for over a decade. The home is welcoming, peaceful and easy for all to find comfort. Its a constant in my life and grounding for me, yet also a work in progress, as we always strive to improve the guest experience. I studied the arts in college and brought all that I learned back to my hometown, Curlew, where I graduated high school and made lifelong friends. This place is special. Glad I can share it with you.
Why they chose this property
I designed and built the Spirit of Curlew Lake (with help from some wonderful people). It was a risky thing to do, at the time the largest home in the county, but it brought more investment to this far flung community and boosted tourism in the poorest county in the state.
What makes this property unique
The home has a spiritual quality hard to describe but discovered by all who come here. The views through 72 windows are spectacular. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking and the wildlife is a constant source of wonder and the 4 acres provide privacy and room to roam. Lake views are revealed from most of the 72 windows of the house. The home sits on a 4 acre parcel, with lots of tall yellow pine and more. The surrounding scenery is both rugged rocky peaks and crystal clear lake. One of our favorite things here is the Kiva, a fire pit I designed out of locally mined rock, excavated so my guests can enjoy the warmth of a fire with a gathering of friends and family, yet be out of the whistling wind. We have a horse-shoe pit, a Volleyball court, a small but growing apple orchard and then so much more for recreation, including the five kayaks, bikes, fishing gear, infra-red LP grill, snow shoes if you come in the winter, a tobogan for sledding and more. We really enjoy the incredible display of stars at night and the natural sights in the daylight. The wildlife is always present in this area, parading right by our windows are deer, eagles, geese, turkey, owls and more.
