About this property

NEW! Lake Melissa 5 Bedroom Charming Cabin

This 5 bed 2 bath Lake Melissa property is right on the water, walk right out and dip your toes. This cabin has so much nostalgia. A small rock wall with concrete planters surrounds the property. A cute little courtyard between the main cabin and the bunkhouse has an outdoor seating area with tables and chairs. Outdoor Shuffleboard. Perfect for keeping an eye on the kids. The inside of the main cabin is like walking into the past at your grandparent's cabin. It has a warm feel and a very cozy vibe. Knotty pine throughout. Spacious kitchen and living areas, 3 bedrooms, and a sunroom that goes right to the beach. The bunkhouse has 2 sleeping areas and a full bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need. Coffee Maker, toaster, Crockpot. This cabin has a much bigger feel that can be described or shown in the pics. Very close to the restaurant Hotel Shoreham, Two historic and challenging courses in the heart of Minnesota Lake Country are available to you. Enjoy all that the Pine to Palm Golf Course and Lakeview Golf Course has to offer.

If you love history, Keep reading!
Shoreham and the Lakes of Sallie & Melissa have beckoned generations of tourists and cabin owners. This bustling resort community had its origins in the 1890s and became the celebrated summer destination for a weekend or for the season. Now, the Hotel (restaurant) and the Shoreham Chapel are the only two original buildings left in what was once one of the most popular destinations in the area.
Back in its heyday, Shoreham was a bustling area, known for its lakes and resorts. At the end of Washington Avenue, on Detroit Lake, people would board the steamer Lady of the Lakes and travel through Dunton Locks, on the way to Shoreham.

From about 1890 to the 1930s, a typical trip started with a train ride into Detroit, followed by a buggy ride to the dock of Detroit Lake. From the dock, the Lady of the Lakes -- followed by several other steamers over the years -- would take passengers through the lake system, and an hour later, they would be set to enjoy a weekend at Shoreham. Hotel Shoreham's aura. The parade of past and present. Drift back in time circa 1910. Picture yourself in a straw boater or white lace, on a summer evening on the porch of the Grand Hotel Shoreham. Loons call. Fireflies fly. Wicker creaks. The ice in your cordial and distant cares melt away.

We loved Lake Melissa
Loved the area. Lake Melissa is a hidden gem. We lucked out and stayed just as the autumn colors in the trees were at their peak! The view of the lake was incredible out of the many windows. We watched the birds take their route past us every morning. There was a paddle boat and stand-up paddle boards available if we wanted them. The house was fine. Everything we needed was there, but it could use some minor maintenance. There is a window in the shower without any covering on it. That shower faces the gathering area between the bunkhouse and the main house and a straight view to the street. Maybe it's tinted and you can't see inside??? I could see right out while I showered. Clocks had dead batteries, the light on the ceiling fan was not usable. We only used one bed and it was fine but not the best mattress. Linens were exceptionally nice -- big fluffy warm towels awaited us on each bed. I recommend bringing bottled water for drinking and cooking. There were only two of us but the layout would offer plenty of room for a larger family or group. In late September the neighborhood was very quiet and relaxing. Weather was rainy but wifi is good. We were easily able to unwind and relax here.

We really enjoyed our stay, the weather was HOT, inside was cool. Only wish our stay could have been longer. The cabin was neat and tidy with everything we needed.
