About the host
Hosted by Julie Routledge

I live in Johannesburg South Africa and work in the corporate world for a Financial Institution, so it's an absolute blessing to have a holiday home away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I love getting out into the African Bushveld and enjoying the wildlife that roams freely around the house. I also enjoy being able to take day trips into the Kruger National Park as well as being close enough to pop through to the coastline of Mozambique to do some scuba diving or just enjoy the beach for a couple of days. The options are endless. I also really enjoy being able to share my special spot with similar minded nature lovers. It's truly food for the soul.
Why they chose this property
Sitting on the patio/veranda and looking out over the inviting blue swimming pool into the African bushveld is so peaceful and soulful. Every so often a herd of zebras come crashing through the bushes looking for a treat. The mighty Kudu bulls stare you down with those liquid brown eyes pleading for that banana, whilst the shy impala wait in the background for any leftovers. On an exceptional day you may even get a giraffe peeking at you curiously through the treetops. The birdlife is prolific and all the little beast scurry by sometimes unnoticed. At night sitting around the log fire, with the millions of stars twinkling down on you, you often will hear the lions calling, or spot the darting bushbabies in the trees. Later in the evening I often get to see the shy genets sneak in to see if there's any bananas left for a treat. And this is just at the house. Go beyond its borders and explore the South African lowveld. including the Kruger National Park, The Jane Goodhall Chimp Reserve, the Sudwala caves, Bourkes Potholes, Gods Window and so much more.
What makes this property unique
The house is spacious, open and inviting. It doesn't feel too big if there's just 2 of you and it doesn't feel too small if there's 12 of you. Its private - sitting out by the pool you can't see any Neighbours and they cannot see you. There is parkland in front of the property so no one will ever build there and obscure your view of the bush. Wonderful spot for a family reunion or a group of friends. The house is well stocked to ensure a comfortable stay.
