About this property

Large Private Home with Heated Pool and Panoramic Views. + Solar and Batteries.

Enjoy a perfect vacation in this private Hawaiian home.

Imagine arriving in Hawaii and pulling up to your own private home with ocean views from every bedroom! This spacious home is located in a beautiful upscale neighborhood and has a private, heated pool, and a huge lanai with one of the best sunset views in Kona.

This home easily accommodates 3-4 couples or 1-2 families and much more affordable and convenient than a nice hotel. It is also baby-friendly, with 2 play-pens, sliding door locks and staircase gate. Please note that we are strict about or maximum occupancy of 8. Our permit to rent depends on that.

Because of its location and elevation (615 ft), you not only get the amazing panoramic ocean views, but also island breezes flowing through the home ensuring fresh air and comfortable temperatures. Conveniently located, you are a short drive (5-10 minutes) from all of the action in downtown Kona, Alii drive and beaches, whale watching adventures and golf resorts, and only 15-20 minutes from the airport.

The main floor of the home offers a large kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room and 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom with a California King size bed, large bathroom, walk-in closet, and opens onto the outdoor lanai. A second bedroom upstairs has a Queen bed and large bathroom across the hall, and also opens up to the lanai.

The lower level includes two bedrooms that access the pool deck. One has 2 Queen beds and the other has a California King and family room with couch and recliner and TV. There's also an additional full bathroom downstairs, conveniently located between the bedrooms.

Elegant furnishings and decorated Hawaiian style (upgraded since our last photos), this spacious home has an open floor plan with high ceilings, large rooms, and two living/family room areas. The kitchen has a counter height table set for 4, center island, stainless steel appliances and is large enough for sharing quality time while the group chef whips up a meal! Extra details are included, such as Reverse Osmosis filtered drinking water, Air Fryer.

Outside, enjoy the incredible manicured landscaping with beautiful tropical plants and flowers (several Plumerias for Hawaiian leis).

The heated pool is a mild saline pool which is far more pleasant than traditional pools. The large pool deck offers both seating and table arrangements for sunbathing or sitting in the shade under covered areas and lounging, watching the kids swim, or reading a book. It is the perfect place to have fun with your friends and family and also relax, or fire up the BBQ.

According to guests, the lanai is definitely one of the best features of the house. It has 4 different seating arrangements, is covered, and has comfortable temperatures 24 hours a day ~ never too hot or cold. Wake up with your morning coffee while reclining in the lounger and bird watching. We even have a bird book so you can identify the countless varieties. Enjoy your lunch at the bistro table, or create a cozy, romantic dinner at the table for two while watching the sunset.

Sunsets are absolutely amazing with a nearly 180-degree view of the Pacific Ocean! We include binoculars for whale watching from the lanai. You can also see surfers at the Big Island's most popular surfing spot!

We hope you choose our house for your Big Island Vacation. With 2,800 square feet, the home can accommodate up to 8 guests ~ a great value for your perfect Hawaiian vacation.

We need to mention that the house is in a residential neighborhood and our neighbors are very concerned about noise levels at the house. They also have the ability to get our permit to rent revoked. The two main issues we have had were noisy kids in the pool and outdoor conversations after dark. It may be unnatural for children to play in a pool at moderate volumes, but we have to require it. There are other neighborhoods designated resort neighborhoods which would be a better choice for noisier groups. Thanks for your consideration!

We have two security cameras on premises. The doorbell, and one looking at the driveway.

We have a STVR (short term vacation rental) permit issued by the County of Hawaii.

Aloha,
We are Jon and Jackie. When we are not in Kona we, live in Missoula, Montana and are lucky enough to travel back and forth enjoying both beautiful states. This house is our only rental, so we can give it and our guests the attention needed.

Each of us were also full-time Hawaii residents at one time. Jon was a local Kona pharmacist and Jackie spent some childhood years growing up on Oahu.

In Montana, we enjoy riding mountain bikes during the summer and playing hockey in the winter ( all 9 months). Although we love the idea of retiring in Kona, we can't give up hockey just yet; Canadians, you understand, right?

We know quite a bit about the Big Island, and we are there often, making improvements to the house.

We work hard to think of ways to make your trip more enjoyable and admit we are a little obsessed with getting 5 star Reviews! Therefore we are always a phone call away if you need anything, even if it's advice on the best beach for your family. We also have many reliable caretakers and contacts that keep everything working and running smoothly.

When there, we enjoy riding our bikes on the nearby Walua road and trail system (a couple of blocks below the house,) and snorkeling.

Jackie likes working in the yard and she landscaped and planted nearly everything.

Whatever we are doing during the day, we always make sure we are home by 6pm to see the most amazing sunsets. Each one is unique night after night and no picture seems to do them justice.

Mahalo for reading , and hopefully you will let us share our amazing home with you and make your next vacation epic :)

Note: We also want to mention that in this era of online scams, we will never ask you to wire funds. If you get that request, you are not dealing with us. We do not advertise our house on Craigslist.

Why they chose this property

Like many people, we used to dream of owning a home in Hawaii. Northern winters can be long, dark, and cold. We came here for the weather, but stayed and bought a home because of the people.

Hawaii is, hands down, the friendliest place either one of us have ever experienced. The Aloha spirit is generous, friendly, warm and loving. The Big Island, especially has a casual atmosphere and easy going charm.

And not just locals. Hawaii seems to be a place with diverse populations of people moving in and eager to meet friends. We both agree that Hawaii is the easiest place we have ever made friends and continue to make them every time we come to the island.

What makes this property unique

We started out renting this home and fell in love with the open floor plan, high ceilings and large rooms. We especially like the majestic panoramic ocean views at this higher elevation, better than the close up views on the coast, which seem small in comparison.

Jalousie windows that open on the east and west sides of the house are so important in Hawaii. Why? Because you need the trade winds flowing through your house for airflow to keep it cool and open.

The alternative is closing all the doors and windows at night to run an air conditioner, which is an option in two of the bedrooms. We usually have cabin fever from being in Montana winters, so really enjoy having doors and windows open all day and night.

Another unique benefit of the house design is that it also offers outdoor areas (lanai and pool deck) in the SHADE, which we prefer. Don't get us wrong, there's plenty of sunny areas around the house, if you're a sun lover. But, for fair skinned people, or those who get overheated easily there's also plenty of covered areas to lounge around and enjoy the outdoor pool, garden, and views.

The neighborhood is upscale and friendly with many dog walkers who like chatting on their morning treks, but also quiet and uncongested with traffic and people. There's also flocks of turkeys who strut down the streets, plenty of colorful birds, and even a neighborhood owl that flies around, who once even bathed on the top step of our pool.
