Quiet Surf Townhomes II #2 Professionally Managed by Newman-Dailey Quiet Surf’s second townhome has a sign hanging right beside the back door to the beach that says” A bad day at the beach is better than a good day at work”. What a perfect reminder that every day spent on the sunny shores of the Gulf and just steps from a cozy haven to spend your nights in is a pretty good day! The crisp white kitchen and colorfully patterned living room look out onto the furnished porch and beach, while upstairs you’ll find two serene bedrooms. The master suite has its own balcony that offers a quiet escape and birds eye view of the laughter of your happy family enjoying their best beach vacation ever. Not only is everything here more enjoyable, it’s convenient, too! Free wireless internet, a washer and dryer and a location that’s close to all the entertainment add up to a beach vacation like no other. We require a minimum length of stay during the summer and over holidays.

We do not rent to anyone under 25 or to students. We require 1 parent for every 2 people under 25.

Guests receive a welcome kit with small dishwasher detergent, dish soap, sponge, a roll of paper towels, and laundry detergent. There will be an initial trash liner in each receptacle and a set of toilet paper and soaps for each bathroom provided. Guests will need to replenish supplies for longer stays.

Property rules state: no RV's or trailers of any kind are allowed to be parked in the community parking area. Please call us to arrange off site parking if you are bringing a trailer or RV.

Outdated, but we didn’t mind because everything was clean and convenient! Love how easy it was to get to the beach. We could easily just sit on the back patio and listen to the ocean sounds!

Beach front was beautiful! Decor was relaxing. Need new furniture in the living room and the master needs a new mattress! Extra light blankets would have been nice. Maintenance overall needs work, but for beach front and the price... helps you overlook the rest.

We were so happy that you took time to leave your review of Quiet Surf 2, unit 2. We would have to agree with you, this is indeed a beach front property with a million dollar view! We have been notified by the property manager that this property has just received new living room furniture as well as some new bedding. Engineers have been hired to investigate some structural modifications. We encourage our guests to call us at once if they need additional items that can’t be found in the unit….we are always happy to deliver them. Location was absolutely Yahmazing!!Floors are uneven, ceiling vents leak, makes bathroom floor slippery. Terrible smell downstairs, I would address that soon smells like mold! Trash was never picked up, can full when we arrived. Floors need replaced, can tell they were wet before.

Great location, directly on the beach!

Excellent location and property! Overall clean, just needs to be cleaned looking up. We were scared to turn on the ceiling fans becuase they were so dirty. Normal wear and tear on the home, as your would expect from a beach home, but could use some maintenance and up keep between guests. Would definetly visit this townhome again! Easy communication with the property manager. Thanks for the stay!

Great location but that's it!

First off location right on the beach was great. But this unit needs lots of TLC. Ants on the kitchen counter, upstairs bathroom sink will not drain, beds in all bedrooms very uncomfortable, window blinds torn & don't cover entire windows, light bulbs out in bathroom, washer & dryer need updating, screws sticking out of deck boards, vents in kitchen dripping constantly, baseboards dirty, utensils dirty in the drawer, overall place dirty. I did read reviews & read lots of these concerns from past renters but thought they would have been addressed by now. I wouldn't stay here again for 1/4 of what I paid.

September 2016 Stay

Our family stayed 5 nights and loved the property . The rental is very clean and very roomy . You have a half bath down stairs , with a washer and dryer for laundry . There are two sleeper sofas in the downstairs main room . The kitchen is large enough with all the conveniences you would expect . The views from both the upstairs balcony and the deck are absolutely stunning and worth the trip itself . Do yourself a favor and sit out on the first floor deck at sunset! Love it ! The Pros : Clean Spacious Footsteps away from beach View is spectacular Cons : Private Beach is not policed . People from the neighboring rentals(large hotels ) ignore the private beach signs and invade your space . If you are wanting a private beach , this isn't it and it should not be billed as one . Overall it was a great stay . The fact that people cross the private beach markings and no one cares was bothersome, but that won't prevent me from considering this unit for my next getaway .

While there are areas designated as private beach, the county has passed a customary use ordinance so private beaches are no longer enforced. You cannot beat staying right on the beach! Townhouse #2 was nice but in need of some repairs. The nail heads actually do still stick up on the deck! One of the support pillars holding up second floor out on the deck was loose enough to slide half way out. The dryer heating unit didn’t work. There was an apparent hole in the dining area subfloor letting the vinyl sink in and crack and also an unusable fuzzy blanket in the closet due to crusty soiled area and dirt. All of which has been reported in the hopes of correction , especially the safety issue ones. Despite all this, we as always had a great stay and will definitely do it again. Newman Dailey responds very quickly in sending someone out to help fix issues but some of these things are beyond them and lies with the owner. Newman Dailey is great to work with and I look forward to my next stay

Accurate Reviews

Prior reviews of this property are very much accurate. The location offers convenience and efficiency to the beach, two local eateries, and a short drive to anything you read about that Destin has to offer. A huge bonus — feel like a beer and a blackened mahi sandwich or a mess of fresh crawfish at a “ local” place, walk 50 feet across the street to Kenny D’s and bam, beer and quick lunch are available in mere minutes; eat-in of take-out are offered. Never got to Capt. Dave’s, which is another 100 feet away. The beach chair/umbrella guy is also great, very accommodating. The house is as described, many new updates but obviously not new construction either. As long as you align you’re expectations with what you’re giving you’ll be a-ok. I enjoyed my stay, no complaints. Fishing from the beach was possible during my stay (likely because weather was not very great), caught some whiting, a catfish, and a real nice redfish (20+ lbs). The deck needs work, it’s rough, don’t let you’re kids walk barefoot on it, splinters and screw heads are everywhere, but it is functional and the furniture is usable/functional. Overall I give the property 3-3.5 out of 5 rating.

Construction zone

The location is great, the beach is beautiful and fairly private, the deck offers a great view and easy access to the beach. Now for the bad... the building is older and is shows; the outlets in the bathrooms didn’t work, the beds are very worn making it difficult to sleep, the back deck needs improvements, we saw several roaches but I know that’s pretty normal in Florida, and lastly the townhouse next door was under major construction. We were woken up everyday between 7:30-8am by workers using power tools and banging on the other side of the wall from everyone’s beds. We sat outside to enjoy coffee but it was to loud to talk because of the construction. I emailed the property manager to inform them and their response was sorry we will let the other property manager for the townhouse next door know..Overall we were very disappointed in our stay.

Excellent location

Loved the location! The property is directly on the beach which made going in and out from the sun so convenient. There are two restaurants situated across the street and directly beside the property. As other people stayed, the townhouse does need upgrades. The floor is not even and the beds are hard. Overall it is worth the minor inconveniences to be in such a prime location at an affordable price.

Beach is great, house needs some TLC

We loved the fact that the Beach was steps away, that was wonderful. However the condo itself is pretty old and weathered. For example we all tripped all over the floors as they were so warped. Also bathrooms were a bit grubby. Mattresses could be updated. However if you spend most of the time on the beach, the location can’t be beat.

Management company was incredibly responsive and you can’t beat being right on the beach and walking distance to restaurants. Chair and umbrella rental that came with the booking was a great surprise and made for an easy beach setup. However, the finishes are shoddy and look better in the pictures than in person...from peeling paint, uneven laminate flooring with obvious gaps between planks, we also found mold on the guest shower curtain. The bed in the master is incredibly firm and we found ourselves sleeping in the guest bedroom since the mattresses were more comfortable there. The couches are firm and less than desirable for lounging. While no noise could be heard from adjoining units, thuds from your neighbors could be heard as if they were upstairs within your own unit.

The only good thing about this property is the convenience to the beach....the furniture is so uncomfortable in the living room and the bed in the master bedroom was horrible! We left a day early because we could not stand another night on that bed. For the money to rent that property you would expect comfort. Very disappointing to wait anxiously for vacation, not to mention spending way to much on the place you stay...to not be able to relax and enjoy!

Location, Location, Location!!

We just returned from a week in Quiet Surf 2, #2, and despite the one day Hurricane Irma blew through as a Trop Storm, we had a fantastic vacation. The property is spacious (master bedroom is HUGE), clean, tastefully decorated, well stocked with linens, kitchen needs and beach toys, and the location cannot be beat -- just yards from the deck steps to the gulf, walking distance to 3 good restaurants (Kenny D's is directly across the street -- great food and service, very casual -- we walked up from the beach for lunch most days and then back to the beach!) and the nightly sunsets were spectacular. Every day we saw a lot of dolphins swimming by and sea turtles hatched on our last day from a nest in front of our town home! A couple of minor and mostly cosmetic concerns -- both shower heads desperately need replacing -- the kind where you have to jump around to get wet and rinsing hair is difficult, the hall bath shower curtain rod is very, very rusty and there are no towel bars in there at all so towels thrown over the rod picked up the rust. Needs towel bars!! The paint is flaking off the ceiling in that bath as well and overall the paint job in the whole place is kind of shoddy with previous colors showing through. Also, we had to keep things constantly plugged into one outlet by the kitchen sink as ants kept coming through it. But as I said these things were minor and certainly were not a deal breaker for us. What we wanted was a nice, clean home where we could walk out to the beach right off of our deck steps instead of lugging tons of stuff down an elevator from the 14th floor of a condo and that is precisely what we got. We absolutely loved it and we will do everything in our power to stay there again, hopefully next year!!

We just finished our stay at Quiet Surf Townhomes II #2. Had a wonderful time and hated to leave. The unit was spacious and clean. The best part is the location! Steps away from the beach with beautiful views! Before booking our visit I had asked about a review that I read mentioning the deck in need of repair and was told those repairs were made. They weren't. That was the only drawback to this unit. Nail heads sticking up everywhere and boards splitting. The unit itself was in good shape. With that being said, we will definitely come back and hope that the repairs will be made as promised before we go back.

August 2016 Stay

We stayed at Quiet Surf #2. The unit was as portrayed. It had really nice furnishings and everything we needed. It was literally steps from the ocean, gorgeous view. I made the mistake of replacing a flood light not being aware of the protocol when being around sea turtle nesting areas. As soon as I was made aware, I immediately removed the light. Hence the sand sculpture "Ode to Sea Turtles". My apologies to the sea turtles and sea turtle people. I would definitely stay again at this unit. The only drawback was the downstairs balcony needed. some repair. There were still some nail heads were still sticking up and a couple of spindles from the railing were missing and some were loose. A little bit of safety issue but when I reported it I did say it would be okay to repair after check out. All in all we made wonderful memories and had a good experience with Newman Daily.

July 2016 Stay

I recently stayed in your Quiet Surf II unit #2. The appliances in the unit were very outdated for the amount of the rental. Also, the complimentary beach service could use work. It was a constant fight to keep outsiders out of the chairs and not use the umbrella. The other property management companies to the left and right of us had a representative on site all day to ensure their correct guests had use of the beach service. Newman daily did not provide any. We called to let Newman daily know we were having issues and were told there was nothing that could be done since it was a public beach. Not true.. There are 2 signs posted between the quiet surf II properties stating "private beach". I felt we paid a high premium to be on the beach and have beach service, but pretty much got the same level of service had we paid much less and stayed in the condos across the street. Very disappointed. I really don't see the value in paying for that property again unless changes are made.

Thank you for your taking the time to write a detailed review. It is imperative we hear of our successes as well as our shortcomings so we can grow and improve. In response to this review, we have passed along your concern to the owner in regards to the appliances. We have also spoken to the beach service attendant to help assist in having more control over the chairs and umbrellas designated for our guests. While we believe these concerns have been addressed since your visit, you may also want to view our other Gulf-front properties, which all have different decor, appliances and beach attendants.

The property was adequate. Location to the water was perfect.

There were a few issues during our stay. The bedspreads on the two double beds were very old and dirty looking. We went out and bought blankets to sleep under. The carpets were not clean, there was a false fingernail in one of the bedroom floors and a penny with a wad of hair around it in the master. Overall, it did not seem very well cleaned. It would have been nice for the property management company to let us know about Red Tide, since we did not know about it, we spent a significant amount of time getting a prescription called in and filled for an inhaler. I understand they couldn't control that, but we could have come better prepared. The most frustrating thing, however, was the fact that construction on the unit next door began as early as 7am and went sometimes until 9pm. You couldn't sit out on the deck because of the trash blowing from the construction and it was loud when trying to spend time inside or out. Overall, it was an incredibly frustrating time and emails to the contact provided were answered with an out of office response. We still have not heard back from her. I would not stay again, and would not recommend.
