Our beautiful 60 x 65 foot completely fenced in backyard provides you with the privacy you deserve and peace of mind knowing your pet has plenty of leg room to romp about. Unlike most properties in this community, ours is flat without dangerous rocks jetting out of the ground or steep slopes and is equipped with a spectacular 4 foot diameter burn area circular fire pit with firewood provided, Hammock, gas grill, table with 4 chairs, and Adirondack chairs - the perfect environment for a family and friends get together for a BBQ.

Enjoy Wireless internet throughout the home / back yard and YouTube Live TV . The living room features a HUGE 65 INCH FLAT SCREEN TV with an XBOX One S & a Playstation 4 which play CDs, DVDs, Blue-rays and have activated Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Commercial Free Hulu Plus Accounts giving you access to thousands of movies and TV shows at the touch of a button. Video gamers rejoice because the XBOX One S & PS4 are loaded with a staggering amount of top notch awesome games and we also offer an Authentic Coin Op Arcade Cabinet as well. With 100s of games from all genres, satisfying gaming experiences can be had by young and old, casual and hardcore gamers alike. We also offer a 40 inch flat screen TV in the master bedroom with YouTube TV live and streaming Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

Highland Lakes Cottage features 3 bedrooms (Bedding Provided) - 1 Queen & 2 Fulls (All Memory Foam Mattresses), 1 full bathroom (Tub, Shower, Toilet, Sink), 1 Laundry Room with commercial coin op washer and dryer, and an 8 x 20 Sun Room, Living Room / Dining Room, and a spacious Kitchen with a Waist High Oven (no bending) Ample parking is also provided in the front yard.

Guests have access to any one of the 5 lakes with a total of 7 beaches in the community (no gasoline powered boats permitted on the lakes) to enjoy life guarded swimming & great fishing. Great hiking & boat rentals are only 12 min away at Waywayanda State Park.

Right on the corner of our block, just a 3 minute walk away, you will find a beautiful lake with baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, jungle gym, and a concession stand with a bathroom as well. Enjoy long walks, bike rides, or a jog down winding country roads.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area as well ... Snow Ski Resort, Water Park, Bike Park, Golf, and Zipline Tours 10 minutes away, Swimming, Fishing, Boating, Hiking, Restaurants, Drive-In Movie Theater, Regular Movie Theater, Wineries, Mountain Biking, Mini Golf, Indoor Ice Skating, Bowling, Laser Tag, Horseback Riding, Museums, Paintball, Skydiving, Zoo, Specialty Shops, Hot Air Balloon Rides, State Parks, Mall Shopping, Farmers Markets, Antique Shops ... oh and did I mention Relaxation ...

With the economy at its worst, isn't it nice to know that an affordable private paradise awaits you for your family vacation, snow ski adventure, or romantic getaway!

Highland Lakes is a Private Community in which all residents are registered with the town. As per a New Town Ordinance, all renters / tenants must pay a registration fee (Mandatory Fee added to each booking automatically) and must provide me with the First and Last Name of each member of your party, including minors, the Home Address and telephone number of the person who booked the reservation as well as state and plate info for vehicles. I am required to provide you with a copy of the By-Laws which you will find in the compartment of the coat rack mirror at the entrance of the cottage.

During the Summer Months, registered tenants my obtain parking decals & beach tags at $2 per day per tenant. Beach tags may obtained in the club house office, I suggest bringing an ID with you in case you are asked for it.

$ 85.00 Pet Fee applies where applicable. We do not allow cats.

Holiday Fees are built into your quote and apply where applicable.

Mike the host was wonderful & very accommodating from the start! He even asked what time we would arrive so he could turn on the heat ahead of time, which made such a difference! The home was very cozy & had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I was also very happy that I was able to bring my service dog without any issues. He kindly allowed us a late checkout with a fee, but it was absolutely worth it!!! We truly didn’t want to leave, it was a wonderful stay! Would totally come back !

We had a great time here. The beds were comfortable, the lakes were perfect, and everyone was so nice. I definetly recommend Beach one which is within walking distance. There were 2 playgrounds and a concession stand there as well. We were a short drive from Lego land and it was just an hour to Newark from where we took the train to NYC. Would love to stay here again.

Good weekend getaway with the dogs

For the dogs: our dogs enjoyed the big fenced-in backyard. There's also a HUGE fenced-in dog run a few minutes drive away. For the humans: My wife and I enjoyed the gaming options (Xbox, Playstation, and an arcade machine). There's a nice little town a few minutes drive away, with a supermarket, CVS, and decent coffee and food options.

Wonderful stay

The cottage was wonderful, like staying at home! Entertainment was the best, with a huge TV loaded with all the games and movie and television links (Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video). Kitchen has great coffee and water in the fridge for guests, which was much appreciated. Fun area, good restaurants, nice hiking in Waywayonda State Park. A great overall experience!!

Perfect weekend

My family was down for the Spartan race weekend. The property is in a perfect location for proximity to the mountain, as well as Beaches and playgrounds for the kids. It comfortably fit four adults and two kids, and the fenced yard was great for the dog. Michael is a thoughtful and responsive owner, and we are looking forward to staying again next time we are down.

I love being in the business of hospitality. Although Highland Lakes Cottage is not a true B&B, as you will be renting the entire house, I'll always be a text or phone call away to assist you with anything you need. I've been renting out the cottage since 2011 and over the years I've had the opportunity to chat with a lot of great guests and enjoyed sharing stories and having a laugh or two with them.

Most guests don't come to the cottage to hang out inside the cottage - most come to enjoy activities close by such as skiing or going to the water park at Mountain Creek, hiking at the nearby state parks, apple or pumpkin picking, fishing, boating, or swimming at any one of the 5 lakes in town, hunting, to experience the beauty of autumn in a mountain community, mountain biking, wine tasting at a winery, antiquing, to go to the drive in movie theater close by (one of the few left in the country), or even to take a hot air balloon ride!

On the other hand, once guests arrive they are pleased to find that the house itself holds a wealth of enjoyment with a big TV in the living room, streaming services such as Netflix / Commercial Free Hulu Plus / Amazon Prime, and with a huge fire pit in the back yard, a gas grill, and a hammock, many guests simply enjoy hanging out in the back yard and enjoying their privacy as it's completely fenced in.

Someday, I would love to own and operate a true B&B because not only do I love to cook but I also like taking care of guests and serving people - rather then just hearing about their vacation, I could personally be a part of it.

Why they chose this property

I chose this property because of its proximity to the lakes and its large / relatively flat back yard. Many properties I looked at either had small back yards or steep slopes or rocks jetting out of the ground. One other feature I really liked was that the home sits between two streets (front and rear) and because of this, you only have 2 instead of 3 neighbors.

Over the years I have worked hard improving the cottage and property by fencing in the back yard, getting a massive and beautiful fire pit, while also providing modern and useful electronics.

All of my hard work has paid off as Highland Lakes cottage is now the perfect blend of nature and technology.

It has an old school, warm, charming, campy feel. You will feel the full force of nature in our 60 x 65 foot completely fenced in back yard ... grass, huge fire pit, wood, bird bath, window bird feeder, a bunch of wind chimes, hammock, grill, trees, open space, seating, birds coming and going, stars, and moon light.

Inside the home you will get a cozy country feel, but this is no cabin in the woods where you are cut off from humanity ... because subtly sprinkled throughout the home are all the technologies you have become accustomed to ... High Speed Wifi, a Huge TV, USB charging ports, blue tooth AM FM Radio allowing you stream music from your phone or tablet, and 2 Video Game Systems (PS4 & XBOX ONE S) with literally 100s of games pre installed in addition to an Authentic Coin-Op Arcade Cabinet.

What makes this property unique

You could stay at a hotel or condo directly at or next to one of the attractions in the area (ski resort / water park), but if you do, you will missing out on all that Highland Lakes Cottage has to offer ... Privacy ... would you rather walk out into a beautiful back yard or walk out of your hotel room into a hallway filled with strangers? Would you rather enjoy a fire in a huge private fire pit or share a fire pit with hundreds of other guests? Would you rather just grab a log off a firewood rack or have to run out a buy some? Would you rather pay for Wifi as an extra in a hotel room or sit in the back yard and pick up the Free Wifi from the cottage? Would you rather cook a meal in a cramped condo kitchen or enjoy the open space of our kitchen? Would you rather be limited to just basic cable channels in a hotel or enjoy basic cable AND Netflix, Commercial Free Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime Video on a 65 inch TV? If you are a gamer, would you rather leave video gaming behind on your vacation or explore the hundreds of games offered on the XBox One S or PS4 at Highland Lakes Cottage?
