The house was charming, well equipped, roomy, and had several touches that made us feel welcome. Thanks for hosting us for our daughters last swim meet!
Although it did not have a fenced yard, it worked great or us & our dogs.

About the host
Hosted by Anita
We invested in the home as a family project. When purchased in 2022, it required quite a bit of work. Our teens (and occasionally our littles guy) took place in the planning and renovations and also enjoyed shopping for the accurate era of antiques that fill it! We are all very proud to leave Grinnell a little bit more beautiful than when we came.
Why they chose this property
The home is in an eclectic early 1900's neighborhood that is in the midst of a rejuvenation. There are many other homes that have been restored to their original beauty and others that still need the opportunity to shine again. We enjoy the large back yard and have occasional summer fires in the firepit. Our little boy loves to run down the block to watch the trains pass by (thankfully none in the middle of the night).
What makes this property unique
We adore this home. Build in 1908, we have the history and story of all the owners throughout her history beginning in the Victorian era. When we purchased it, it was in disrepair, but we could see the original hardwood floors and leaded glass windows and felt it was worth saving. We polished until she shined and now, we have a gorgeous home filled with a relaxing, calm living space with splashes of original turn-of-the-century charm. Nothing beats the front room filled with rainbows from the original leaded glass windows around 4:30pm. It is truly a work of art.
