Pool House-Newly built residence in the closest Cycladic Island to Athens

It might seem a tad strange to the reader but I hardly ever listen to music when I visit the Pool House. The stillness and smells of the soil make all man-made devices and sounds seem out of place; alien incursions unsettling my natural habitat. Before your eyes and at the edge of the pool unfolds a limitless horizon of barren Cycladic land, seawater, and bluish sky. All right, maybe I have a thing for the hyperbole, and I do play around with my smart phone while resting on the chaise longue just before dinner is served under the reed straw pergola.

The pictures describe the house much better than a three hundred words summary – especially if written by a non-native English speaker and a father of two – I guess, what I am trying to convey to the reader and potential guest is the ambiance, the feeling, the soothing energy which the house and its surroundings imbues to your body rhythm. If on a day we decide not to go to the nearby beach – a mere fifteen minutes hassle free drive – the kids will dive their hearts out in the pool while I, and my wife will catch up in our reading, work on our Med cooking, or simply vegetate in a linen hammock.

Two bedrooms, an attic with a double bed, and two separate bathrooms can accommodate up to seven guests. A fully equipped kitchen and the adjacent living area with its fireplace, make the unit suitable for an early Spring, or late Fall getaway. The two bedrooms open up to a stone tiled porch and a lush lower garden ideal for kids to roam around or for a parent to get some much needed sun.

I and my family, will be more than eager to host you at the Pool House and give you tips and recommendations on how to have a time full of joy and laughter on my ancestral land.

Villa was excellent everything that we needed for a perfect break. Property is well designed and very clean. The view from the terrace is also exceptional. It was such a pleasure to watch the sunset every evening over the sea. Alfredos who looks after the property is great and very helpful. Highly recommend the villa and the island, perfect getaway to relax.

Idyllic hillside retreat

The Pool House was a perfect choice for our annual Greek island retreat. The house is light and beautifully designed to take advantage of the fabulous views. The kitchen has all you need for self-catering. Alfredos was very attentive and helpful throughout and the pool is very well maintained. The peace and quiet of the hillside meant that we spent many days by the pool and in the hammock. Why would you want to go anywhere else (did I mention the heavenly views?). It's so tranquil; often the only the movement was the birds of prey silently circling the hillside. The island is absolutely charming and unspoilt (almost untouched by tourism compared to other Greek islands), quite barren in places, but with many wild herbs and flowers growing in profusion. Locals were very welcoming, and we enjoyed great meals in local restaurants. The surrounding houses alongside the Pool House are quite close together, but we were fortunate not to have any problematic noise disturbance from neighbouring properties. We managed to navigate the local country lanes (with quite typical Greek island road surfaces) on a 125cc motorbike but some beaches are easier accessed in a four wheel drive. We loved Kea, an exceptionally beautiful island, and The Pool House was for us (a middle aged couple who know what we want from a Greek island holiday) a totally idyllic retreat.

Tolle "Osterinsel" Kea

Super ruhige Tage, auf der im April noch grünen Insel. Das Haus is fast neu und hat eine traumhafte Lage mit tollen Sonnenuntergängen Richtung Festland. Der Vermieter ist unkompliziert und sehr freundlich. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Amazing jouse with breathtaking view!

We spent two wonderful weeks last July in Kea. We enjoyed the sun, food and amazing beaches, yet most of them we enjoyed the place where we stayed. Alfredo’s villas are located at Nichi/Agios Nicolas, not far from the port and 15 minutes by car from Ioulida. The house was very very pretty, fully equipped and clean. We had our private swimming pool (cleaned every second day) and the view was really breathtaking!!!!! During our staying Alfredos was always available for us, very polite and highly professional. The price is very reasonable for the services and the view you get! We sincerely recommend you the island and Alfredos villas.

Peaceful & calm with a beautiful view

So many positives about this place, but first among them is the positioning, with spectacular views out to the west (fabulous sunsets and a glimpse of the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio). So peaceful and secluded set among a few other properties but with none overlooking. The internal space of the house is well designed and comfortable, although I could imagine it would feel a little crowded if all six beds were occupied by adults. Outside, the terrace is large with ample shade (and did I mention the view?) and a large dining table for leisurely lunches and starlit dinners. The pool is of a really good size and depth, and again has that view. The only real negative was in fact due to that pool. The house is set in the countryside and, since there is no natural surface water on the island during the summer, the pool is an oasis for local wildlife, and when we were there, that mainly meant wasps (the non-aggressive European Paper Wasp, but in the numbers we had – particularly on the hottest days – their thirst and curiosity meant they were a real nuisance.) The owner was really very helpful in helping us try to combat them, but quite simply, nothing was going to stop them getting to that water. Apparently we had hit peak wasp season (late June) so, if you’re scared of wasps, it’s worth asking the owner before you book about how active the little beasties are likely to be at the time you’re planning your trip. Other than that, we can’t fault the place and had a fabulous fortnight of peace and relaxation. If you want to get out and see more of beautiful Kea, the house is in a good location for exploring the island, and while you’ll need to drive over dirt tracks whichever way you reach it, we managed without incident in an Astra. Some of the roads on Kea would be more comfortable in a 4x4, but most are fine in a standard saloon.

spectacular view!

A beautiful and well equipped house with spectacular view. The house was clean and perfect for a family holiday. It is in a quiet location, about 10 minutes drive from both the port town and chora. Getting to the property involves some short sections of dirt track. We were impressed with the service provided by the property manager. Will definitely return.

Welcome to paradise

Staying at Alfredo's House was such a pleasure. The view right at the sea by the pool is amazing, same as the house wich is really comfortable and clean (plus really well furnished). The owner is really helpfull and easy to talk.Of course, the location is a little bit far from cities if you don't have a car, but it's totally fine to rent taxis plus it's part of the charm of it. We definitly would recommended for those who're looking for luxe, peace and, again, one of the best view of the island.

perfect !!

Kea is a lovely island which is not so touristic than the other big islands in greece! There are so many beautiful beaches and taverns all over kea! The house is in a perfect condition and new, the view is amazing! We had a very good time there and want to say a special thank you to alfredos and his family for the perfect accommodation and the tipps where to go on the island!

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!

We had this house right after the other one. Of course the swimming pool was a plus but i don't think I wanna write anything less pleasant then the other house. The place is beautiful, the swimming pool is super well taking care of, the house is in great state and style. Everything is perfectly made for you to spend a magical time. Especially at sunset. That picture is not lying, the view is breathtaking and at summer time the sun set right in front of you, exposition is perfect, you have it every night! Again the owner was so kind to us, a real bowl of fresh air. Makes you feel instantly very welcome. I can't wait to go back! One thing, you need a vehicle to go to and from the house. But it's part of the fun and also the best way to discover this beautiful island.

Wunderschönes Haus auf Kea

Wir (meine Frau und die beiden Kinder 11 und 14 Jahre) verbrachten 13 tolle Tage auf Kea. Das Haus von Alfredos liegt in eine fantastischen Lage ca. 300 meter über dem Meeresspiegel mit einer unglaublichen Aussicht, an der wir uns nie satt sehen konnten!!!! Obwohl man sich nur wenig im Haus aufhällt, fühlten wir uns auch dort sehr wohl, denn alles war in einem sehr gutem Zustand und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Alfredos und seine Familie kümerten sich sehr liebevoll um uns und waren jederzeit für uns ansprechbar. Die Straße zum Haus ist durchaus noch ausbaufähig, aber das gilt für viele Straßen auf Kea und wir haben uns schnell daran gewöhnt. Wir werden das Haus auf jedenfall unseren Freunden empfehlen, denn es war wirklich ein grandioser Urlaub!!

Our summer holidays at Alfredo's place :-)

The house of Alfredo's has an amazing view !! Situated up hill 400 m above the sea level, you enjoy every day the sunrise and sunset :-). Nice and confortable house, kitchen well equiped despite the lack of a microwave...Linen and towels service, No climatisation but the house is enough isolated to maintain the freshness in the bedrooms at night. Kids enjoyed every morning / evening the pool ! Wifi is not in house but owner can organize it if need. We spend great vacation and looking forward to come back at Alfredo's place :-) Olivier - Czech Republic

UN ANGOLO DI PARADISO!!!

La casa, di nuova costruzione ed assolutamente ben tenuta, rimane in una posizione fantastica, immersa nella natura ed avvolta da un totale silenzio, con vista e tramonti "mozzafiato". Il proprietario, molto gentile e disponibile a qualsiasi richiesta ed informazione, al nostro arrivo ci ha fatto trovare un cestino contenente tutto l'occorrente per la colazione oltre che una scorta di bottiglie d'acqua. Ben attrezzata la piscina che, nonostante la bellezza del Mare Egeo, è stato il posto dove abbiamo trascorso maggiormente i nostri momenti più piacevoli ed indimenticabili; l'isola offre tantissime baie, tutte molto belle, ma il luogo migliore, per noi, era sempre la "nostra" casa e la "nostra" piscina. Il nostro soggiorno a Kea è stato ... UN SOGNO AD OCCHI APERTI e sicuramente ci torneremo perchè ... CI PIACE SOGNARE! Alfredos, grazie di tutto!!! Katia e Oriano

Stunning home in beautiful Kea

What a gem! The house is everything we expected and more. Spacious, beautiful, private and peaceful. Each day the stunning sunset was different. The house has everything you could need - plenty of crockery and cooking equipment, good little coffee maker, a dishwasher, washing machine, Alfredos even left us a little basket of food goodies including home made fig jam, yum! After a hot day exploring Kea's many beaches, ancient sites and walking trails, the pool was fantastic to come home to. There was nothing we could fault at the house, and we had a fantastic week on Kea. Thank you Alfredos for a wonderful last week in Greece and Europe!

Amazing House!!! Couldn't be better!!!

We stayed at the house for 7 nights with our two children and we had an amazing time. The house itself was incredible, comfortable, cozy and clean and we hardly wanted to leave it, since our children were crazy about the pool. The place was very quiet and we had a picture-perfect view of the sunset every single day. The kitchen was very good equipped and in general the house has all amenities one would expect. The only minus I would say is that you have to bring a car since transportation (except taxi) is inexistent. The island is beautiful with great beaches and crystal clear water We hope to return soon
