About this property

Charming Pet-Friendly Cottage on Lake Huron

Welcome to a cozy cottage just right for a Lake Huron getaway. This airy and bright cottage is the third house from the lake and just a short walk to a secluded neighborhood beach.

We welcome pets!! You may bring one dog under 90 pounds or two dogs under 30 pounds each.

There is a $25 per day fee per dog. PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR DOG(S)/CAT(S) AS TRAVELER(S) WHEN MAKING YOUR RESERVATION SO THAT VRBO ADDS THE PET FEE TO YOUR QUOTE AUTOMATICALLY.

The neighbors on both sides of the cottage are dog owners, as are most of the neighbors. You'll probably see your host and her dog, Jack, often out on a walk.

The cottage has one bedroom, one bathroom, a sitting room, and a kitchen. The bedroom has a memory-foam queen mattress, a ceiling fan, a large closet, and windows with blackout curtains. In the sitting room there's a cot-sized (28 x 76 inches inches) daybed, also with a memory foam mattress.

The cottage has strong enough Wifi to work and a Roku to stream entertainment or gaming from your accounts on a small TV.

The kitchen has a ceiling fan, along with a refrigerator-freezer, a two-burner ceramic cooktop, and a microwave, toaster oven, electric kettle, blender, and coffeemaker.

The full bathroom has a shower and a bathtub. An on-demand water heater means you will have plenty of hot water.

There are an outdoor table and chairs in the back yard, under a shady maple tree, along with a Weber charcoal-burning combination grill/prep table on wheels. Make some s'mores as you enjoy a fire in the nearby fire pit. We'll supply a bundle of wood for one campfire.

The cottage is not wheelchair accessible. There are three steps, with a handrail on one side of each, up to the deck, a small step into the cottage, one step up from the entry hall to the kitchen, and also one step up from the entry hall to the bedroom. The stairway down to the beach has handrails and requires careful footwork.

The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, with well-maintained, short, one-lane dead-end unpaved roads that invite safe walking. Your host lives a few houses away, on the same road as the cottage.

No parties or large gatherings are allowed on the cottage property, except for family get-togethers over holiday weekends, and even they are rare in the neighborhood. Quiet hours at the cottage are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

MICHIGAN DOG LAW
- Per Michigan law, all dogs must be secured or leashed when on the property, and they must be on leash whenever they are outside the property.
- Dogs cannot continuously or extensively whine, bark, yelp or howl, especially during quiet hours.
- On and off the property, dogs' owners will be responsible for cleaning up all their dog’s poop, double bagging it, and ultimately placing the bag in a covered outdoor trash can.
- Summer rules for dogs on the beach will be available at the cottage and in June through September must be read and initialed by the dog's owner(s) ASAP after arrival.

Cute cottage get away

Adequate space with a short walk to the beach to see sunrise. Everything you need is provided, sheets, towels, dishes, even coffee! Took a 5 minute drive to eat at Windjammers, recommended by host. Food was great, and it’s right on the water.

Mini Vacation

We rented as a mini vacation. Besides some beach time for us, my goal was to teach my English Cocker to swim and do water retrieves. The location was perfect for this. We also loved how close the cottage was to the beach. Jenny is great, very accommodating, we will definitely come back in the future!!

Loved It

This place was perfect for my wife and I. We even brought our dog Howie. This place has everything you need for a week or weekend get away. The access to the beach was very easy to navigate unlike what other reviews have said. We loved the snacks that were provided as it was an extra special touch. We loved this place so much that we can’t wait to come back. We were in from Ohio visiting family who own the Henry House (gift shop) in Lexington. Thank you again Jenny for a great place.

Clean and Cozy Place

It's a beautiful cozy place for a couple. There's a backyard with charcoal barbecue and ample space in the front too for the dog to play. It does not have direct access to beach but the owner provided instructions to get to the beach which is hardly 100 feet away. Will definitely book again.

Cute little cottage get away

Such a cute little cottage for a couple. When entered we were greeted with a cute note with some treats. The house was very clean and had everything you needed. The beach access is right down the road and super convenient. Lexington is just right up the road. Highly recommend this cottage for a couple!

Lake Huron Cottage

Cottage was clean. View of lake was a peek a boo only from deck. No TV unless you provided your own service for streaming. The biggest problem were two huge dogs at the cottage next door that barked outside the bedroom window that caused us to leave early and pay for a night that was not used. It was so loud that we could not sleep. Could not recommend this property for that reason. Host did not ask why we were checking out early.

Weekend away

The owner lives just a few houses down and was super easy to communicate with, quick responses. I have animal allergies and decided to take a chance, my allergies coukdnt take it. But, abother issued was, beyond the owners control, the public access beach is blocked off. You now have to walk to an opening in the fence, trapse across someone else's property and then walk down to a beach that looks like it is more of a party spot for teenagers.

Lexington Getaway

My sister and I stayed in this darling little cottage two nights. Excellently appointed, everything one needs, decorated so cute, spotless clean. Sunrise view over lake from the deck. Birdsong. Walk to Bunny’s Frozen Custard! It was hot (90 one day) and humid so AC may be needed for summer guests. I am not an AC person, living in Colorado, and would love to come back here in….October? Colors would be fabulous. Thank you, Jenny!❤️

Lovely host, not super clean

The cottage was a bit cluttered. Loads of post it notes taped up around the walls. Dirty food fill plate left on shelf. Dog hair rug. The "lake view & lake access" were misrepresented. Host was kind. I hope she will fix these small problems for the next guests.

Cozy and close to everything!

This cottage was great for my husband and I for our anniversary weekend. Cozy, comfy, and close to the lake. We enjoyed walking on the beach just a couple minutes walk down the road. The cottage was also stocked with the necessities and then some! We always bring coffee with us, but I totally forgot the coffee creamer, didn't realize until the morning, but to my surprise the owner had stocked both coffee and coffee creamer. On top of that there was tea, hot chocolate, and a cute basket on the table with treats as well! We loved our stay and would definitely return!

Beach experience disappointing

The only vrbo description from the host regarding her beach was that the cottage was 3 residences from the beach. When we arrived, her lengthy (3 pages) 3-ring binder stated that the walk to the beach included poison ivy, walk through rubbish/trash area, walk down dangerous boulders ("somewhat easier coming up than going down.") Following 3 pages of descriptions "path ends in a very difficult climb down unwelcoming large boulders at the base of the bluff, boulders appear intentionally arranged to prevent access to the public beach," "newly completed blue house, making it difficult on Mortimer Line Road to access the little beach and Lake Huron," "if you use the path in summer through fall, I recommend you wear long pants, long sleeves and shoes with socks to avoid poison ivy, sticky burrs and such,". . .and now somewhere within find a burn pile on the beach and an/or some wire and junk, all gathered by beach users. Once you've made it beyond the boulders and the junk, and the burnables, keep walking north. You/re now on the bigger beach." My husband and I had expected to be able to walk on an accessible beach. No clues as to anything else in her listing. This was obviously a huge disappointment, as this trip was to be a birthday gift from me to my husband. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and nice. We have no complaints regarding the accommodations, but it feels as though the lack of complete description was intentionally misleading.
