This property is so unique and neat. Lots of thoughtful items and equipment. Very responsive and helpful host. Our family had such a fun time here and would recommend 100%
We loved our stay! The place was beautiful from the inside out, it had everything we needed from soaps, pots, pan, dishes and paper products! The best part was how sweet the host were.. I’d suggest this place to anyone and everyone!
This was an incredible place to stay and would be a fantastic getaway for a couple or family. The train car was amazing and super comfortable. There was so much to do on the property, you could stay here for days and not get bored. Beautiful setting, too!
Had a great stay during the Rock the South event! We never stayed in a train car on a river before. That box is now checked!Good place for a couple with kids but do not recommend for multiple couples since only one bed that sleeps two.Had fun playing horse shoes during the day and singing Johnny Cash on karaoke machine til 2am each. (Wives were not happy)River too high to get kayaks out so will have to try next time.
You don’t want to miss this hidden gem! We will 100% be staying again. The Train at Riverwood was so much fun perfect getaway for our family and birthday celebration. Beautiful views and property, so unique sleeping in the perfectly decorated and stocked Train. The host were amazing! They had everything we could need and then even more. We were beyond happy with our stay and had an excellent time!
I’ve stayed at multiple places and I have to say that this is one of the best trips I’ve been on with my husband. The cold hindered us from doing all that there was to do but the coziness and quietness was exactly what we needed. The host are exceptional. Going above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. I can’t say enough about this place and we will hopefully return when the weather gets a little warmer.
The train car was so much fun!! We stayed with five women as a girls trip for the weekend and it was perfect! The property was beautiful. Even though it rained and was cloudy for our trip we had plenty to do! The lighting was perfect. Loved the hot tub. I mean why are you still reading the review? You should just go on and book!
This property was unique and super fun! My kids loved playing outside, the hot tub and the stock tank pool. We did not play in the river due to temperatures and age of your kiddos. We made a fire at night and the kids loved having their own little train car rooms. The host was amazing!!!
Niki met us there on Friday night as we arrived to explain some of the things she thought we might have had trouble figuring out (she was right), which was a huge help. Both she and Chuck (the owners) were super helpful throughout our stay and you could tell that they genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay, which we did. You can tell they have poured the heart into this place and my family enjoyed every aspect of the property. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with many outdoor activities and all the conveniences of home, I recommend you give this property a hard look. Thanks Niki and Chuck, hope to be back.
Wonderfully Stay in the river, Very Unique Place. "My 16 yo daughter loved this place, that tells you a lot about the characteristics of the way this property is design to meet all needs of all ages! Our 9 yo old loved it too! We had family travel from Mississippi and we traveled from Georgia to meet in this small town of Dora! It.was exclusive, the entire property to yourself, very quiet. We enjoyed watching the rabbits early morning while having our coffee on the covered porch, kayaking, playing connect 4, yard pong, hot tub karaoke night, grilling every night! It was high 80's-low 90's and the train stayed very chill when time to come in and hydrate. Owners both were very accommodating, helpful, and answered every question we had! Beautiful property, we really loved all the lights around the property We will most definitely be back in the fall! Thank you again for a great hosting! We have stayed in many VRBOs, and this by far is "one of a kind".CheersThe Pruett's
The Labor Day weekend at Riverwood was 5 star from start to end! The Pullman train 🚂, along with all the great amenities available, was the perfect unique location to spend a family weekend. The inside of the Pullman car was clean and had a rustic historic feel while at the same time providing the modern amenities, including TVs and WiFi, that we needed. Outdoors the stock pool, hot tub, fire pit, kayaking and covered outdoor dining area with a TV were a big hit with the teens and adults alike. The hosts, Nikki and Chuck, went above and beyond, from Chuck helping us to launch the kayaks to Nikki's prompt response to all my numerous questions and requests. I would highly recommend a stay at Riverwood in the Vintage Pullman train car if you are looking for private, peaceful retreat with family and nature! 5 stars all the way!!!!
This unique property is a panorama of three distinct "ages" in America. First is the "Natural Age" with beautiful dense forest untouched by human interference as far as the eye can see; the Black Warrior River winding across the property; lush vegetation and wildlife. Second is the "Industrial Age" with the centerpiece of the property - a vintage Pullman streamliner sleeper car from the glory days of rail travel in America. Third is the "Digital Age" with satellite tv's, good internet and cell phone connection.
The owners/hosts are delightful! They are very welcoming and go out of their way to ensure that guests are comfortable and that their stay is enjoyable. They are readily available and very responsive to questions and/or any concerns. At the same time they are very respectful of guest privacy.
The owners/hosts have skillfully refurbished the interior of the railcar. They have added modern details, pleasing decor, comfortable furnishings and new appliances thus creating a very homey atmosphere. They have carefully retained enough of the original features of the railcar (ceiling, passenger "call" switches, sliding doors and original porter's station) to maintain railroad authenticity and the integrity of the original Pullman creation.
The property is private, secluded and feels like it's many miles from anything. Actually it's only a few miles from anything you might need.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
