Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Make sure to strip used beds and place linens in laundry room. Please keep the quilts on the beds. Gather towels and place in laundry room or in bath tubs. If able, please start a load in each washer.
Load the dishwashers with all dirty dishes and start them. Make sure to clean any grill supplies in addition to cleaning the grill prior to departure.
Turn off lights and fans and make sure every door is locked. Make sure lily pad is secured to the dock, umbrellas are down, and everything is put away.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No smoking! No fireworks! No over drinking leading to vomiting! Extra fees specified in the contract.
Please don’t wait until check-out to notify us of damages or items lost. This negatively affects the next set of renters. Let us know ASAP.
We don’t have trash service. Take to the dump (1837 Wise Five Forks Rd). Hours: M/T/Th/Sat 7:30am-6:30pm, Sun 2:30pm-6:30pm, W/F closed.

We enjoyed our stay at Icing on the Lake during Thanksgiving! There was lots of space for everyone in our group of 19. The house was well stocked for cooking, as well as, playing games, watching movies in the theater room, and simply spending quality time together. Everything was beautifully decorated and the host was gracious and welcoming. I would highly recommend this property for large family gatherings!

The house was lovely, spacious, clean and stocked with everything needed. Communicating with Elle was easy and information was clear. We loved spending time on the dock and got to enjoy the water with the paddle boards and kayaks provided. The fire pit, movie room and hot tub were all other highlights within our group. Beautiful home on the lake! The house was perfect! Though large and roomy, many specifically said it felt cozy. There was lots to do and I really appreciated the second full kitchen. 2025 Lake Gaston Family Vacation

Lovely spacious home with well equipped necessities for a large family vacation. The kitchen offered many items—multiple dish wear/silverware items, cookware, large cabinet spaces for food storage and essentials for making our vacation easy. The furniture, throughout the house, was very comfortable. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy a meal, conversation or nap! Everything was great—both inside and outside!

Great House on Lake Gaston

This was a great house for our week at Lake Gaston. The house is on a cove and everyone had fun playing in the lake without having to worry about "traffic." We rented boat and we all enjoyed tubing and skiing. We had one rainy day, but there is so much to do inside, no one was bored. The decor was lovely and there was more than plenty of space for our group to spread out. The kitchen is definitely fully stocked and the additional refrigerators - and second kitchen - made things easier for our big group. If you're looking for a great house on Lake Gaston, look no further than Icing on the Lake.

This place is wonderful. One of the best properties I've stayed in using VRBO. The layout, the openness was spectacular. We rented this house as a surprise for my mom's 74th birthday and she was blown away. The kids didn't want to leave. If you are looking for a place to get away and relax with your family this is a great place with 8 bedrooms in a multi-level home. 5 stars all around.

This place is a gem for a large extended family!

We love all the space that this place provides, both in bedrooms and in living spaces, including 2 full kitchens. Elle, the owner, was so helpful in answering my questions!! All our communication was clear and quick. We had an issue on our end because of a family situation and she helped us in every way possible to solve the problem. I was always a beach girl until I discovered lake life. Never going back! I enjoy all the recreational opportunities a lake offers. I recently started hosting and love getting to share my love for our lake with others.

Why they chose this property

We are at mile marker 14 on the lake. I feel that this is a prime location being close to Poplar Pointe Marina (wood-fired pizza, live music, and a great atmosphere), Holly Grove marina (yummy food, huge ice cream scoops, and refueling), Corona Beach, and some of the best areas for boating, skiing, and boarding. The July 4th boat parade is close by at MM16 too!

What makes this property unique

I love how we are protected in a cove, yet still have a view and can easily paddle out to the main lake (which takes less than a few minutes). Being in the cove offers worry-free and safe swimming for families with kids and great fishing possibilities.
