Gorgeous Country Views in Southwest Virginia—Dog-Friendly

*Under New Management*

Escape to this private country home in Marion, nestled in the rolling hills with mountain views. Sleeps up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms with updated decor. Sip coffee on the porch, relax, and take in the country roads. Just 10 mins to downtown Marion and Hungry Mother State Park. Also nearby are Abingdon, Barter Theatre, and Grayson Highlands. Enjoy hiking, dining, and all the Appalachian Mountains have to offer. A perfect getaway for adventure or leisure.

The space:
The home includes 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master suite features a King bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom features a Queen bed and a cozy reading nook. The third bedroom has two twin beds and features an arcade-style gaming system. Both the master and guest baths have been stocked with the guests in mind and feature amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

The kitchen has everything you could need from bakeware to specialty utensils. A coffee/tea station is provided as well.

Board games, a record player/Bluetooth speaker, binoculars, and outdoor games ensure that you'll always have something to keep you busy. Or you can just enjoy your time relaxing by the fireplace. The property is perfect for stargazing so pull up a chair by the fire pit and enjoy the peace and quiet. Don't forget the marshmallows!

Guest access:
Guests have access to the entire home except for one locked closet in master used for supplies.

Other things to note:
PLEASE READ. 4WD is recommended. The driveway is a gravel driveway with a steep grade. It's well maintained, but you may need a 4 wheel drive vehicle, although plenty of sedans have made it up the driveway just fine.

Serenity Now!
I am so thrilled to have found this property …. The views, the quiet, AND our Golden retriever was happy! I grew up close by & my parents live around the corner so it made it easy to visit with them. There is easy access to all my favorite places downtown and the lake, aka Hungry mother Park. I cannot wait to come back and commune with my favorite VA backroads .

Great little escape near many small town gems
Melissa's property was a fantastic escape from my typical city living. You will find yourself surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful stars, and a peaceful quietness. The house itself is fantastic with every amenity thought of by the host. We enjoyed the small touches that were geared toward guests - we truly had everything we needed! The hosts were super communicative and easy to get in touch with if we ever needed anything. The internet was frankly amazing considering the remote location. Overall it was a fantastic stay! And even though it seems remote, you are still only minutes from Marion, Chilhowie, Abingdon, and Hungry Mother State park, so it is truly a great location all around.

To our really nice trip.
It's a really nice house. But the people that clean for you are not doing a good job. The floors were dusty, they hadn't wiped the shelves or anything it wasn't terrible but it wasn't like before. The Master bathtub is stopped up. There was mouse dropping in the master bathroom my brother in law wiped it out but it was like that again the next morning so you have a live in tenant. Lol. There were some bugs in the bedrooms to. The hall bathroom light was going out to. We used my husbands flashlight which worked good. And they put towels on the beds and they were still wet. Which made the beds wet. But those were little things. But th cleaners are slipping. The windows were also dirty with hand prints. But we really did enjoy ourselves. Thank You for sharing your home with us. We really appreciate it. We look forward to maybe next year coming back. God Bless you and your family.

We are a family of five from Central Florida. We are so excited to share our property with others as it means so much to us. We hope you enjoy the space just as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

Marion, and all of Southwest Virginia, is just so charming. The beauty of Appalachia is all around and small-town feel is perfect when you just need to get away from the craziness of life. With Hungry Mother State Park just less than 10 min away, you are so close to wonderful hikes, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and a swimming beach (in season).

What makes this property unique

Our property sits on one acre and you are completely surrounded by nature on all sides. The only neighbors you’ll encounter will be cows (on the neighboring property). Deer frequent the yard and it’s so amazing to watch them graze. The entire view across the street is just farm land. Cows, turkey, deer, and donkeys have all been spotted. Use the binoculars to get an even better look!
