Year-round hot tub, 2600 sq ft house with ample parking - Northstar Lodge
Welcome to Northstar Lodge! Nestled in picturesque Crane Valley at the base of Green Garden Hill, this hidden gem is set on a 6-acre property enveloped by pristine wilderness, yet only 9 miles from downtown Marquette. The original portion is a charming Montgomery Ward-style farmhouse built in 1930, at the time surrounded by a working farm. The great room and lodge hall were added later, and served as an antique store, an auction house, and a church at various points in this home’s history.
Guests will enjoy the house’s four comfortable bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, butler’s pantry with coffee nook, two spacious dining areas with seating for a total of 14, the inviting great room, a sitting room, and a parlor. Unique Birdseye maple flooring, antique furnishings, and modern comforts blend to create a warm (or in summer thanks to the central air conditioning - cool!) and welcoming atmosphere. With access to 2,600 square feet of living area, the home provides all the space needed to relax and make lasting memories.
Outdoor amenities include a huge yard which is perfect for lawn games, fire pit with seating for 10, and year-round hot tub.
Visitors are welcome to explore the property’s informal hiking, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing trails. The property also provides access to Marquette's exhilarating snowmobile trail network: three miles of convenient highway right-of-way connects trails to our doorstep, making this a haven for winter sports enthusiasts. Our nearly unlimited parking offers ample space for multiple snowmobile trailers and RVs, giving you the opportunity to bring along all your toys without worrying about storage space. When it’s time to head out for dinner, shopping, sightseeing, or just to pick up supplies, a ten-minute drive along Highway 41 will take you to the beautiful city of Marquette, making it effortless to enjoy the city’s attractions and amenities.

The house was plenty big enough for our family. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit as well as the provided firewood! The location was perfect for us to be able head into Marquette and enjoy some local breweries and food, but also provided us a good starting point to head out into the woods and hike!
We absolutely loved our stay! We've traveled to the area many times and this house is one of my favorites. Every room is cozy and welcoming. There are also many thoughtful additions to make the stay great for families - kids items, dog supplies, plenty of dishes, etc...We will definitely be staying here again!
We really enjoyed our time here. The location is close to NMU so we got to spend quality time with our oldest who goes to school there. Even with heavy snow and cold temps, the driveway was plowed daily and the hot tub was impeccable! It's such a lovely area of Michigan. We highly recommend!
It had great space for all 7 of us. And a small dog. They really know how to have everything you need for family and friends. Loved the deck and hot tub, fire pit and the big yard. Lots of space and privacy.
This is one of our better VRBO stays, the owners were excellent hosts, the property was accurately described and was in a beautiful location. Highly recommend.
What a comfortable place to stay! We all enjoyed this home. I’ve never stayed in a rental with such a well stocked kitchen. Amy definitely goes above and beyond to make sure you have the comforts of home. I’d definitely stay here again. The home is very clean and the property is gorgeous. It’s also a short drive to town.
Our family had a wonderful stay. Everything was in clean, working order and beds were really comfortable. The property (and guests) are well cared for by the host. Wonderful accommodations!
Close enough to get to Marquette for shopping and dining but still far enough out for room to run for a dog and to enjoy outdoor campfires and the hot tub. There is great outdoor seating for relaxing and conversations outdoors. Crispy white bed linens, lots of towels. Clean. Well equipped. We really enjoyed our time at this house.
We had a fabulous time staying in the area. We had to cut our stay short but we’re so satisfied at how big it was. We loved having a lot of dishes and cups!
The house was very nice and organized. Loved the backyard for grilling and bonfires. Close to many great sightseeing locations. Would definitely return
This was a great find for our short trip to the Marquette area. A perfect launching spot for Presque Isle fun like Black Rocks cliff jumping and sunsets all the way over to kayaking at Pictured Rocks. Spacious, clean, with all the amenities of home. Hot tub, lots of games, cool fire pit with smores included, and great coffee bar. Amy was super responsive with our questions. Would definitely recommend North Star!
We loved this spot! Amy was so nice about my service dogs. The house is very well stocked and has a cool vintage vibe. Close to town and a very nice yard! We enjoyed the hot tub which was warm even in the cold! Thanks so much!
I cant say enough about how warm, cozy, spacious, and welcoming this house was! The property was perfect for the pups to romp. The wood work and decor were beautiful and each room invited relaxation and conversation. It was the most delightful place for our visiting group to stay! Quick check in and the host was very accommodating. I will definitely be staying here again!
We couldn't have enjoyed our stay at the Northstar Lodge more! Very clean, cozy, and charming. Perfect central location to visit our family at NMU and explore all that the area has to offer. We loved the private large yard. Communication with Amy was prompt and seamless. She provided perfect instructions - no complaints! We would definitely stay here again!
This home provided ample space for large family accommodations with the four Queen bedrooms and large gathering areas. The hot tub and fire pit was a hit for the adults and the small children loved the outdoors for exploring and running. Note that the home, at this point, is not conducive to anyone with mobility issues. The home is well stocked and clean
Great home with lots of character! Plenty of space for family to gather. The kitchen had nice pots, pans and utensils. The hot tub is big and clean! So magical sitting out in the hot tub when the snow is falling. My recommendations would be to add a railing on the outside steps, more washcloths and kitchen towels.
If you want to all stay in one place and prepare meals together, this is your ideal place! We enjoyed hanging out on the porch and all of the different hang out spots are fun and cozy. I would suggest adding some games and directions on how to use the large coffee pot! There was everything you needed here to include fans for everyone! We would definitely book again!
5 friends and myself booked Amy’s place for a 4th of July get away. The VRBO was accurate to the listing and they recently installed a fire pit! We loved bonfires and roasting smores. The house was spacious with plenty of room to roam and the beds are comfortable. This is also much closer to downtown Marquette then you would think, an easy 8-10 minute drive to the Vierling or Ore Dock. They’re also completing some major renovations to make it even better. We would recommend to anybody young and old looking to enjoy all that Marquette has to offer!
