Just south of Hoosier Pass, where the Continental Divide can be crossed, lies Placer Valley. Not far from Breckenridge and stunningly at the foot of some of the highest peaks in Colorado. This pacific neighborhood - Placer Valley - is named for the gold mining done in it flowing streams. Panning and other methods used to find gold washed naturally from rock is called the "placer technique" (placer is pronounced plass-er). Here, there are many waters that could have been placer mined. Quartzville Creek comes together with Moose Creek and adds to the upper reaches of Middle Fork, the middle fork of the South Platte River, which meets the North Platte somewhere in Nebraska and eventually flows to the Missouri River.

Mount Lincoln, Bross and Democrat are 14ers that form a cathedral-like backdrop for Placer Valley. All can be climbed from roads accessed through Placer Valley. These 14ers are a popular "bag in one day" treat for those hikers who are trying to ascend to the peak of every 14-thousand plus mountain in Colorado.

You will most likely need a vehicle. In the winter months from November to April you will need AWD/4WD. The road is gravel and county maintained/plowed, but will be snowy in the winter months. We do not provide a towing service or cancellations if you are unprepared for the winter weather. We do however understand things happen, and will do our best to work with you.

You'll be within minutes of world-class skiing, hiking, fishing, off-roading, white water rafting, mountain biking, and restaurants. Gold Medal trout fishing with public access in the South Platte River.

Free Shuttle Bus pickup at the entrance of Placer Valley to you to Breckenridge and Summit County! Pickup, Drop-off at HWY 9 & County Road 4. GOOG "The Park County Commuter" for routes and times.

Ranked #7 on Evolve's best places for a ski property in 2023. 25 mins to Breckenridge, 50 mins to Arapahoe Basin, and 45 mins to Copper Mountain.

Best place to stay if skiing Breckenridge
This place was an absolute dream. I take a skit trip every year out west and I always love trying new places. This place I have to say was out of the ordinary very cool. Every last detail was considered by the owner. We had a fire every night, watched movies, and slept like babies. When we were ready to to leave at 7:30am, the roads were groomed and ready for our departure to the mountain. Your right there on the main pass to Breckenridge, but your off the path just enough to feel and be completely remote on a real Colorado ranch, surrounded by beautiful scenery and tons of moose and wildlife! If your going up way check this place out!

Thanksgiving 2023
We spent Thanksgiving in the mountains this year and chose this property because of the location and pet friendly listing. Cute little cabin and overall did not disappoint. We especially loved the wood burning stove in the living room, which we made good use of. And it added an ambiance to our thanksgiving meal. The owner communicated in a timely manner when I reached out. Craig even had snow cleared the first morning of our stay as we woke up to a winter wonderland. The property had everything we needed, the only down side was that despite extra heaters placed in each of the rooms, and many additional blankets, it was very cold in the upstairs master bedroom especially. Also, some things could have been more updated or replaced. For example, the dishwasher that had so much hard water build up it looked dirty (but wasn’t); the downstairs toilette looked like it hadn’t been cleaned, but it turned out to be rust and/or permanent stains. Same with the bathtub. That said, a few things could have been nicer considering the cost per night, but overall, we enjoyed the property and would go back again.

What makes this property unique

Huge Open Space and Main Floor. 30 ft Vaulted Ceilings. I see reviews all the time of people in cramped cabins. Our space is perfect for your whole family. Makes you feel cozy while also being immersed in the mountains.

Surrounded by "14ers"! Your backyard is a mountain getaway. 6 ft Picture Window makes you feel like the Mountains are inside. Our first guest said "the trees and mountains look CGI." It's that good!

You'll be within minutes of world-class skiing, hiking, fishing, off-roading, white water rafting, mountain biking, and restaurants. Gold Medal trout fishing with public access in the South Platte River.
