About this property
Little FoxHill, a home in the woods by a brook
About this space
Little Fox Hill is nestled in an enchanting forest right next to Bradbury Mountain. It is a tiny house custom-built by local craftsmen, furnished with items made by small companies.
In this nature paradise you can either read a book or write a book, be quiet by a little stream and listen, spend time on the rocky coast of Casco Bay, or explore hiking trails.
Freeport is about 15 minutes, Portland 30 minutes. From the organic farm close by you can get your produce and hear the Highland Cows.
The space
Little Fox Hill is nestled right in the middle of the Maine woods. The interior and exterior honor artists (Hellmund Studio, Vancouver, Valeska Peschke, Berlin, Aileen McKay, Inverness) and family owned businesses (Richard Parks, Three Bluebirds, etc) and honor sustainability through and through. Wood, glass and ceramics are the materials, and a little collection of books on nature and climate change invites you to explore and learn while you take a sip of our own delicious fresh water, from a well about 350 feet deep. Be inspired by the peace and harmony on your private balcony while overlooking the adjacent brook, pond, and park.
Little FoxHill was built in 2022-2023 by local carpenter Mark Vachon with support from local excavator Andrew Williams, as well as plumbers, electricians, and other trades. The interior design was envisioned by us. Especially the staircase is an original design, modeled after Scandinavian designs for tiny house floor plans and staircases.
The architect is Joshua Woodsman from the Czech Republic. He called his plan for the house “Yvonne”.
Building materials are local, the floor is hickory hardwood. The ingenious sleeper sofa was designed and handmade in Finland by Luonto. The wicker chair is from Kingsley Bate, Virginia. The mugs are hand-made in Mexico by Anetta, each mug took 3 months to make. (Please leave them here. :-))
The original artwork is by Bread&Circus, Glover, Vermont; Valeska Peschke, Berlin, Germany; Aileen McKay, Inverness, Scotland.
The outdoor sculptures, “Cubism Concerto” (materials cut, fabricated, varnished, 2021) and “In-N-Out” (metal and found materials, 2022), are from “The Hellmund Studio”, envisioned and forged by Andrew Hellmund, Vancouver, Canada.
Guest access
You have the whole house, balcony, and patio to yourself and are welcome to explore the over 4 acres of our property: gardens, park, pond, nature trail, forest.
Other things to note
“Who is living in the present, will in the future have a glorious past.” Little Fox Hill is characterized by peace and kindness. It will change you. The forest is populated by wildlife, the nature breathtakingly beautiful and inviting you to observe and listen.
You are welcome and can bring yourself as you are. We work for humanity. The house is open to the LGBT+ community, is gay friendly, and a space entirely free from discrimination in any direction.
Everything on the premises is for your enjoyment. We hope you feel the peace and harmony in this place and leave with strength and joy in your heart. We're looking forward to your visit!
Your hosts,
Annette and Michael
