About this property
Capulin Volcano View House!
Watch the sunset over Capulin Volcano National monument! Come enjoy our little house on the prairie! You will find some of the darkest starry skies, beautiful sunrises and amazing sun sets. It is quiet, breezy and cozy. You will find wide open spaces, amazing skies and a great chance to disconnect from the hustle and bustle. This is a chance to feel the feels of settling the west, with the modern amenities. Come share this amazing space. See you at the ranch!
The Space:
The bunkhouse is a small, but open space with 2 sets of bunk beds (full on bottom and twin on top) and a living/kitchen area. There are also two 3/4 bathrooms. It is next door to our house, and we do have 3 boys at home, that being said it’s still pretty quiet!
Guest Access:
The porch on the east side of the bunkhouse is pretty private and guests have access to the picnic table there as well as the chairs and fire pit. The fire pit is quite light and we do ask that guests move it out from under the porch before they use it. The long dirt road you come in on is usually great for walking, but we do prefer guests check with us in case there is livestock in that area.
The Neighborhood:
The best part... no neighborhood! This is a remote and wonderful place to get away. Dark skies and quiet nights are the norm.
Getting Around:
For the most part the Bunkhouse is accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicle. There is a 4 mile drive down a well maintained dirt road. If there is a particular weather event please reach out ahead of time so we can be expecting you and available if you have any issues getting in.
Other Things to Note:
Not much for restaurants or grocery stores nearby. There is one cafe in the town of Des Moines and a gas station that carries a few necessities and some alcohol.
This is the country, we do have some bugs, dust and wildlife around!
If something isn’t working it’s usually up to us to fix it so let us know!
It’s a great spot, but not the Holiday Inn!
Interaction with Guests:
We’re happy to answer any questions you may have so please reach out to us. Sometimes we’re around and sometimes we’re not, but we usually answer pretty quickly. Let us know if you’re interested in the area, we’re happy to interact but also like to give our guests their space if that’s what they’re after!
