Encuentro Beach: Direct Oceanfront on Playa Encuentro at Hideaway Beach Resort located in Cabarete on the North Shore of the Dominican Republic. Encuentro Beach is one of the best surfing beaches in the North Shore of the Dominican Republic. Hideaway Beach Resort is 15 miles from the Puerto Plata International Airport (POP).

The Mediterranean Style Hideaway Beach Resort is between Sosua and Cabarete, it's a hidden Gem of Cabarete, DR. Our condo offers Caribbean atmosphere with ocean dreams and cabarete palms and all the comforts of home (AC, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen) in a quiet serene setting only 5-10 minutes from all the action of Cabarete and Sosua. 1st floor, Oceanfront Condo (1400 sq ft, high ceiling, corner unit, bright and airy with no stairs involved) the pool deck becomes an extension of your living and entertaining space. Wake up to the sounds of the waves. Take long walks on the beautiful tranquil beach and wooded trails overlooking the ocean and seaside cliffs.

Coconuts Restaurante has excellent food. Five star rating!!! East Coast, New York City, fine dining quality in a spectacular oceanfront setting. Casual meets quality hospitality with excellent daily specials. Fresh daily fish, delicious steaks & pasta dishes. Friendly bar atmosphere with drink of the day and tropical martinis. I couldn't dream of a better vacation.

You have a full kitchen so you can certainly eat in. There are large grocery stores in Sosua or smaller ones in Cabarete (both 5-10 minutes by car/taxi)

If you tire of the tranquility head into Cabarete or Sosua for dining, nightlife or shopping. There are many options for sight seeing or action tours. Choices range from mountain climbing, biking, horseback riding at Hideaway Beach Resort, to beach and sailing tours. There is white water rafting, waterfalls or jeep safari tours. (Check Iguana Mama Tours). Head out for deep sea fishing or a historical tour of Puerto Plata. The kids will love Ocean World Park: the water park, or go-carting. All nearby.......

Water sports to enjoy are kite surfing, surfing, snorkeling, stand-up paddle board right out your back door.....

Head into Cabarete and the choices are bountiful; from an Irish Pub to excellent Italian and French Cuisine all on the beach in a surprisingly upscale environment. Great spot

This condo is very comfortable and we loved its location. It's in a small building, quiet, the surrounding park, trees and beach are beautiful, it's really close to the beach and has a very good restaurant across the pool deck, what more can you ask! Our 3 year old loved it too. Encuentro beach is not the place to swim because currents are strong but it's gorgeous and there's great surf if it's your thing - and if it's wind season, there's plenty of kitesurfing and windsurfing 5 miles away in Cabarete. My family loved their RP vacation!

Just what we needed!

We had an excellent stay. The owner and local managers were very helpful and answered questions quickly. The location was perfect for our surfing family. The apartment had all the things we needed including supplies for the beach (that was a total bonus)! There is some ware from the salty air, but this is to be expected and did not have a negative impact on our stay at all. We would recommend this to our friends and family and plan to return in the future!

Great Quiet Getaway

My wife and I recently stayed in the this unit for a week and we had a great time. We were looking for a place where we could go enjoy the action of Cabarete when we wanted, but then escape back to a quiet stretch of beach for some privacy. Hideaway Beach was just that. The grounds were beautiful, with postcard views of the caribbean through layers of palm trees. The restaurant on site was tasty and the staff friendly, especially if you try to speak spanish. The unit itself was in good condition and a place we would rent again. It had modern comforts while still maintaining some of the Caribbean charm that my wife and I appreciate when in the islands. Having used HomeAway a good number of times what impressed us most was how responsive the unit owner was. She texted the day of our arrival to make sure we got in ok. Our coffee maker wasn't working the first morning so we texted and she immediately responded with instructions on where to find 2 espresso pots. It was a little more work than an automatic coffee maker, but wow was it worth it. It made the coffee taste so much better! The next day the maids put a new coffee maker in the kitchen. You could also get large jugs of drinking water from them for some pesos. Overall this is a great place to stay and a good unit to rent. We were sad to leave and can't wait to come back!

This was a much needed vacation, and this condo and location far exceeded our expectations! It was bigger and cozier than I anticipated, and the location was exactly what our surfing family needed...good surf for all levels, safe location with security, clean and right on the beach, pool and restaurant on grounds. We travel often for surf, with kids ages 6 and 10 now, and as the mom/organizer, I couldn't have designed a better set up. 2 twin beds for the kids down the hallway with their own bathtub, ground floor unit with pool directly out front (nice that our kids are old enough that I can relax regarding that), and a delicious outdoor restaurant and bar, Coconuts, a few steps away. Isabella and Juana were attentive to our cleaning needs, and Jose, Ronald, and Francina at Coconuts were so hospitable! Upon our arrival, Jose the manager arranged for some water, hamburgers, and even rum and coke to be awaiting us....much appreciated after a long journey! And our hostess Denise set all of this up ahead of time and was quickly available if I ever had any questions. It was so nice to have a seamless vacation...everyone was so thoughtful and genuinely kind. I didn't want to come back to California, and was really just trying to think of a way to buy the condo! I'm already planning a trip back this year by myself or with my girlfriends. Loved this condo and feel so lucky to have found it!

I have returned to this community and this same condo for a number of winters. The location is perfect for a quiet stay-cation. A short ca ride will get you to Cabarete Beach or Sosua Beach or stores for shopping. A gua-gua ride might even suit your fancy. This is a small and gated community. The condos offer good spaces. The property is ocean front and, there is a great restaurant on grounds. I have already booked for another year. These units are independently owned. Not all condos will provide the same experiences.

Beautiful spot with ocean views. I have chosen here for several years.

Hideaway is mid way between POP Airport and Cabarete Beach. So, there is fairly easy travel. Units here are ocean views with the ocean a few hundred yards away. Swimming is greatly discouraged because of currents and undertow, but the beach is certainly available to you. I have been retuning here for several consecutive years. I truly enjoy the people here. The restaurant is recommended. The atmosphere is casual. A family friendly resort.
