About this property

Modern Mid-Century Cabin, on the beach, with views of the San Juan Islands!

Welcome to our beautifully remodeled West Beach cabin, we lovingly call the Orca Sunset Beach House and where the beach is literally outside the door.
As you enter our home a wall of floor to ceiling windows will greet you. Unveiling a stunning view of the Olympic Mountain range, strait of Juan de Fuca, the San Juan Islands, endless miles of beach and ocean water views.
Our home was built with only one theme in mind…the view. The window canvas allows you to take in all the sights and the natural beauty of the wildlife visiting the beach or swimming in the ocean. The bald eagles, cranes, and otters will greet you throughout the day, but they are especially playful in the morning.
Wake up to the sound of the waves, and the water hitting the rocks. Relax on the front porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine as you listen to the ocean glide across the beach. Depending on the time you visit, you will be visited by a beautiful sandy beach you can walk miles on.
The deck is new and has several chairs and a loveseat to enjoy your wine, beer, coffee, tea or water and watch the waves and sea life!
If you love to hike (the entrance to Joseph Whidbey State Park is visible from our driveway), golf (literally minutes away), or hope to find some fun eateries and other beaches and forts, there are several locations to choose from throughout the island!
This small kitchen has everything you need to cook and dine, while enjoying the views from every corner of the great room.
• We provide a Brita water filter pitcher but I encourage you to bring water and ice to use. As an island water system, it is said to be usable, but we find the taste is not optimal.
• There is no dishwasher, but the view from the sink makes it a joy to wash while watching the waves, sunset and sunrise!
• Don't want to wash, we have a drawer, under the microwave, of paper and plasticware for you to use!
• The kitchen has full-size appliances appropriate for a small space to include:
• Refrigerator, microwave, and small stove

We also supply:
• Full set of dishes, glassware, silverware, and utensils, to include children’s plates and covered cups
• Ninja Flip Air Fryer.
• 14 cup coffee maker, French press, Pour over coffee maker, and electric tea kettle.
o We provide fresh roasted coffee both dark and medium from the Skagit Friendship House. If you are ever interested in ordering, please reach out and I can help with that!
o We have a coffee bar to include the coffee listed above, a mix of teas, sugars, creamers, and cocoa, three flavors for those who enjoy that or to create a fake mocha!
• 2 blenders both large and small.
There is a propane grill to help cook!
• If you use the grill, please pull it away from the house for everyone's safety.
The house has all new tile flooring, perfect for a beach house and sand!
• Should you need it, we supply a vacuum, broom, and mop.
The bathroom has been reconfigured to engage that feeling of a luxury spa.
• There is a beautiful double vanity with lit mirrors
• A large, tiled shower, with a tankless water heater, which means no worries about running out of hot water!
• We provide towels, hand towels, wash clothes, shampoo, body soap, and lotion.
• Located in that lovely bathroom is a stacking washer and dryer, along with all supplies needed to launder, vacuum, or clean.
• At the toilet there are grab bars if someone should need them with five positions to help at all angles.
• The doors are wide enough for wheelchairs to roll through into all rooms.
We have you covered with all the basic needs to enjoy your stay.
Provided is a 50” smart screen TV, with WIFI access, PlayStation 4.
• Bring your favorite PlayStation 4 games as we do not yet have any.
• Included with the smart tv is Roku and a selection of streaming choices.
• The PlayStation can also be used to watch your DVD's or listen to CD's.
Hoping to squeeze in a few more days and work remote! We have that covered.
• We provide a computer/puzzle table with a large screen, wireless mouse and keyboard, along with a HP printer/scanner for your working needs or if you want to explore online all we have to offer on Whidbey Island, Anacortes, Skagit County, Whatcom County, and the Greater Seattle area!
If you forgot anything, don’t worry! Instacart makes runs to our house!! I love it and have used it often for groceries, and restaurant drops!
In Oak Harbor, not more than a ten-minute drive is Safeway, Walmart, Whidbey Coffee, most basic shops, and the Commissary and NEX if you have military privileges. They will check for military ID to be allowed on the Oak Harbor base in there in the city. The same is true for the base on your way when driving from Deception Pass. The two drive in coffee stands, at the entrance to the big base, and in sight of each other, but both are both very good!
Speaking of forgetting anything...
• We have a "Forgot Something" basket in the bathroom in case some basic items are not packed, you need ear plugs to sleep, or other personal hygiene products and sewing kits for the unexpected.
• We supply toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, towels, makeup washcloths, all kitchen towels, kitchen washcloths, fresh sponge, paper towels, Dawn dish soap and hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom.
• We supply you with a hair dryer and assorted curling irons and flat iron.
• We also have an iron, steamer, and ironing board.
• Each bedroom has a full-length mirror.
• There are choices for cleaning products under the kitchen sink and in the bathroom.
• There is a first aid kit in the bathroom under the right-side cabinet and two fire extinguishers.
• For accidents and spills we provide you with a little Green Machine carpet and furniture cleaner.
• There is a vacuum and Swiffer mop if needed.
Restaurants can be found throughout the island. The Island Cafe in Oak Harbor has a full array of menu items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and their food is good and affordable! In fact speckled throughout the island are fun and fabulous food eateries, pubs, and bars.
Beautiful Deception Pass is less than 10 minutes in the other direction and a site worth visiting. Throughout the island there are fun towns, each with their own personality, cuisine and shops. You will also find miles of trails and stunning views. All of Whidbey Island provides many ways to find new adventures!
Don't be surprised when our local eagle and his girl swoop and fly by! They like to stay a couple doors down! There is of course a plethora of sea birds, sea otters, and occasional Orcas who pass by in the Straight!
• It is such a joy and we do keep a couple binoculars on hand for you to search the San Juan waters, we provide kid sized binoculars too!
The Pacific Northwest does have its rainy days, but no worries, in our great room cabinets, we have:
• Fun board games for family night games, rock painting kits, puzzles, books, watercolors, crayons, and paper to make the most of a gray rainy day!
• I must be honest, the stormy days are also one of my favorite moments to watch the beach, the power of the waves, and the crazy kite surfers who venture out to take advantage of the wind!
We installed solar lights to help brighten your path if you arrive in the dark.
We have keypads on both doors to allow easy access when arriving. We will provide your access code 24 hours prior to arrival and again the day of check-in.
Come and visit our beautiful Orca Sunset Beach House, take time to relax and enjoy the ocean, it’s just outside for you to see all the wonders and magic of our lovely beach on Whidbey Island!

Born and raised in Washington we have always loved the PNW. We met and married very young at 19 and 20, married 45 years and life has been wonderful. We have been blessed with terrific kids, grandkids and great grand babies too! 30 years with the Navy took my husband, myself, and our four kids all over the world! We have always loved being near the water and wanted to share our cabin and that outstanding view with others, West Beach is a truly special place. It brings us joy and awe looking out onto that incredible view!! We hope it does the same for you.

We fell in love with the endless view, the sound of the waves crashing, the character of the surrounding homes and people as well as the fun comfortable architecture of our home.
