Breathtaking views of the Mogollon rim from all decks and windows of this 2900 sq. ft. mountain home which was designed for comfort, family fun, or entertaining guests--all will surprise and delight you! With 800 sq. ft. of decks, 4 bedrooms, plenty of living space, your stay will be a special get-a-way. Located 200 feet above the East Verde River valley in secluded Whispering Pines community, you are still 12 miles from the center of Payson or Pine, so you enjoy peace and contentment yet know that the amenities are not too far away.
The great room is marvelous for spreading out in front of the amazing (hand picked) stone fireplace. Views from the near floor-to-ceiling windows almost hypnotize you. A/C if needed.
Spaciousness extends to the master suite, open loft, topping the house with its own bath, dressing room and balcony/deck on the upper level. It is more than the master suite as we have added a bunkbed.
Mid levels include two more large bed rooms, both kings, a bath, complete kitchen, dining area and the great room furnished to lend itself to enjoying satellite HDTV, reading, games, and conversation areas. Not to mention three decks for viewing the beautiful outdoors, having some quiet solitude, or visiting with family and friends.
The lower levels include one bedroom, queen size and a bunk bed, another bath, and an oversized game room with a faux wood burning stove, ping pong table, TV, games, music, even a queen wall bed for extra sleepers.
The kitchen/dining area is complete with microwave, dishwasher, disposal, cookware, dishes, utensils, blender, mixer, coffee pot, toaster, etc. Also stocked with salt, pepper, and spices. There is a large table, good for family or holiday feast. Adjoining patio has table, chairs & BBQ for picnic style dining.
There are electric heaters under each bathroom vanity, and in the bed rooms, living room, and game room. However, the preferred heating method is to sit in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate.
Towels and extra linens are found in hall or lower level closet. There is a washer and dryer in the lower level.

The property is ideal for our group. Location is perfect. The only thing that we kind of didnt like are the bed sheets, linens and towels. They dont smell clean and look not washed.

We are glad the cabin worked for your group. Thank you for your feedback. I checked with our cleaning staff and they let me know all the bedding and towels were washed just prior to your stay. That is the process that we have in place.
This house was perfect for our extended family. The views are amazing and the host provided everything that we needed. We would recommend and hope to return again.
This listing is all about location, location, location! It was absolutely stunning. Elk strolling casually through the property and the howls of coyotes at sunset make you feel very much like you're in the wilderness, but with all the conveniences and safety of a beautiful, expansive cabin. There is plenty of room for a big family reunion. The porch/patios all have amazing views of the ridge. Be sure to take a moonlight sojourn out to the loft patio to enjoy some stargazing. My only comment is that the bunk bed mattresses were suited more for children than adults and could use some updating. But that wouldn't keep us from booking again. Overall, a stellar experience.
Kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed . Whenever we had a question they responded quickly . The cabin is beautiful and rooms are very comfortable.
Conrad was very responsive and helpful. The home is in a great location with fantastic views of the rim. We also appreciated the game room downstairs. Sitting in front of the fireplace and looking out the big window was fantastic.
Second time staying in this fabulous home. Lots of room for three families with kids of all ages. We love tending the fire and Conrad left us with plenty of wood. Breath taking views you can't get in other homes. The neighborhood store is a plus and the owner is a hoot!
We spent Thanksgiving week here with my family and my sister and her family. This place was roomy enough to give everyone space and have dinner all together. Nice and cozy at night. The view is gorgeous.
What amazing views in this cozy cabin! Such an wonderful accomodation for large groups. The host went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The property was well maintained and clean. Although our GPS took us straight to the property, families that joined, loved using the provided directions to find the place saying that the adventure began once they arrived to Payson, marking out milage, passing milestones, etc. It was a wonderful weekend.
Second time here. We stayed as a 3 generation family visit with my husband, mom, sister and her kids, my brother and his family, and had the best time, once again. There's a lot to do on and just off the property. Well stocked, comfortable, and amazing views wildlife.
We had such a fun trip up with family friends to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. There’s fun things to do for the whole family. And the view from the deck is amazing! Thank you guys again for such a great stay! We will definitely be back.
We spent 7 days at the home and saw all manner of wildlife. The views are magnificent, better than the pictures on VRBO. The owners were easy to get a hold of and responded quickly when we had a few questions.
Wonderful, cozy house with everything you need...and plenty of space for kids! The teens loved the basement, the huge kitchen and dining table were perfect for family meals and there were still quiet spaces and amazing views for great-auntie (me). So fun to get the city kids out into the trees!
Great time staying in Whispering Pines. Owners were great and very responsive. Can’t wait to go back.

About the host

The history of the cabin: “We are at the time of life where we can be our own 'bosses' (retired engineer & English CC teacher.) Our family comes first, then friends (also 4 legged variety) followed closely by golf (him) bridge( us) reading (us); Travel (Our planes head mainly to towns where kids & friends live) Next, Remodeling--him, work--her, inspiration. Club & volunteer stuff-- him HO, her KD; TV--him, sports. her drama! We have been married for 50 years to the same people! Both: married '59, graduated Kansas State '60, had baby, '61, baby '62; baby '63--in '64 we got a dog!! All goes well.” Now our kids are helping out with caring for this beautiful place.
Why they chose this property
We wanted a place away from the valley where all of the kids and grandkids could come and be together. We found the area while visiting friends in Whispering Pines in a gorgeous snowstorm the day after a warm Thanksgiving in Phoenix. It seemed like heaven to be able to share both worlds with only a two hour ride. We wanted in! We had the shell built and completed the house ourselves. We picked chandeliers from Mexico, rocks for the fireplace from all over the country, and furnishings from family pieces, 'gently used' and even broke down and bought a lot. It works as 'eclectic to the max,' The views in this area belong to God--we just bought here so we could share them. There is a feeling in the air here that brings out the best in people which makes them happy.
What makes this property unique
Inviting friends here for a day or a weekend is a joy for us & them. Everyday cares fall away as the pines, oaks, and juniper give the air a certain mountain tang. Actually, The 5,400 feet elevation makes the nights 25 degrees and days 15 degrees cooler than valley temperatures. Here, we have seasons that give us soft spring rain, exciting summer electriical storms, vivid autumn leaves, and frost, snow, & earmuffs. We never tire of seeing the glorious views of 40 miles of Rim that we share with God. Sunsets from the north deck are amazing, and the experience of watching a storm approach through the valley until the new rain finally drives you from your nest in the porch swing inside--unforgettable. We have had many memorable family reunions here--there have been two Golden Wedding celebrations, a Honeymoon--the magic is just beginning. You won't want to forget your time here. Bring your best camera.
