About this property
Luxury Cabin, 800+ feet frontage, 733 acre Lake, Hot tub, Pontoon, Fireplace .
Öur Cabin was originally built in 1979 using the butt-and pass method with full logs. In 2022 the Magnuson family fully renovated the cabin, transforming into a modernized luxury property. They diligently pursued a vision to bring the cabin back to life. Today, Öur Cabin captures all the charm of the Northwoods, while bringing in the indulgences of upscale living. This lake property includes a hot tub, gas grill, kayaks, 10-person pontoon boat (add-on cost), fishing gear, life vests, campfire wood, propane fire pit, as well as a traditional campfire pit for all those S'more lovers. Inside the cabin, you will find a fully equipped contemporary kitchen with brand-new high-end appliances. The bathroom was designed to create the full spa experience! The 72" deep soaking tub, rain fall showerhead, and heated floor kept at 95 degrees are a sure way to wind down from everyday stresses. Each bedroom has a Serta Perfect Sleeper king bed with down comforters and 1000 thread count luxury bedding. Both rooms also include ceiling fans, Ruko smart TVs, and USB charging nightstands. The living room brings in the warmth and coziness with a beautiful gas fireplace constructed with local stone from a nearby quarry. The reclining furniture set allows you to adjust to the perfect comfort level, kick back, and log into your personal preferred TV app of choice using the Smart TV. The Cabin is equipped with a full size Maytag washer and dryer for your laundering needs. Öur Cabin is very close to excellent Northwoods dining and tavern locations. Dix's Chalet, a quick 0.8 miles away, offers fine dining options, as well as good old fashioned Wisconsin Fish Fry. The Rustic Lodge, 0.6 miles away, provides the perfect atmosphere to grab a burger and beer after a day on the lake. Lakewood Cafe serves up an all-American breakfast and opens at 7a.m. Winter, WI is an awesome place for trail riding, whether it be snowmobile, ATV, or UTV - this property has access to the Tuscobia Trail!

About the host
Hosted by Eric Magnuson

Welcome! We are Eric and Linda Magnuson and we grew up in Winter, WI. Both of us had gone off to college, travelled, worked in various locations in Wisconsin, ultimately deciding to move back to the area when we were ready to raise a family. Our two boys go to the same small school as we did, and as our fathers did. This is a wonderful place to raise a family, to explore in nature, be close with community, and just appreciate all the charm that this little town has to offer. Linda enjoys fishing, hiking, travelling, being outside in nature, and the foodie life! Ask Linda a question about any restaurant in a 150-mile radius and she will tell you all the details! Eric enjoys working on projects, being out on the pontoon boat, spending time with his sons coaching little league, and travelling. We live a short 5-minute drive from the Cabin and commute for work to Hayward, WI and Mellen, WI.
We decided to renovate this cabin and share it with others because we felt that this property was meant to be used as a place to unwind and reconnect with nature, laugh and make memories with loved ones, and just be able to....pause and feel into the beauty of the Northwoods. Eric and I enjoy meeting new people and socializing. We are proud of this cabin we worked very hard to renovate (doing all the work ourselves) and are excited bring all that it has to offer to others.

Why they chose this property
We know this area very well, as we both grew up here. Winter has all the basic conveniences such as a small grocery store, hardware store, bank, gas station, library, and various restaurants/bars. If you love the outdoors, you are surrounded by nature as soon as you walk out of your front door.
What makes this property unique
When Linda and Eric first walked into the Cabin we just loved it. It was so beautiful. It
had so much potential. Yeah, there was dust, mildew, old furniture, no plumbing, no electrical, no heat, the deck was collapsed, none of the windows worked. But the logs were in great shape, the floor and roof were solid, and the land was unbelievable. We could work with this! From then on, we jumped in headfirst and started knocking project after project off the list. We did everything we could on our own with the help of friends, family and our kids when we could get them interested. And if they were not interested, we brought them anyway just so they could watch and learn. Maybe they would play games the whole time or maybe at some point they would say “What are you working on Mom” or “Dad can I help”. For us this wasn’t a job we had to knockout or get through. This was a family adventure and what an amazing adventure it has been and will be! The Name Öur Cabin symbolizes the idea that we built this cabin to share with others. We want you our guests to feel like this is your special place in the world. We hope our guests love this place so much that it becomes a family tradition. It's our hope that when you say were going to Öur Cabin you really feel like you're going to a place that’s home to you.
If you're wondering about the Ö symbol, it’s the Swedish word for island. There is a
small island just offshore of the property. Our Children have affectionately named it Kids Island. They love swimming and Kayaking to the island. It's a source of allot of joy.
One unique aspect of the cabin is the fireplace. It's made of a rock called Anorthsite
that we as a family gathered in a Quary in Mellen, WI. We had a local craftsman saw the stone into veneer and Linda and Eric built the fireplace together. If you look close you can find a heart.
