WestWood Shed • A Vacation & Work Stay: a unique and relaxed entertainment space. Our four Private Apartment Suites, each with a front living room and open kitchen for entertaining your visitors, offer a keyed separate bedroom and laundry, all within your private Suite. Suite #4 is `Visitable` (accessible for disabled visitors) with additional assistive railing in the shower—an ideal place to work, recover, and vacation.
Our location on a quiet street, just 1 block from various excellent restaurants and bars, offers the perfect balance of tranquility and convenience. With two grocery stores & a butcher shop within a half-mile and GEODIS Park-Nashville Fairgrounds just a mile away—home of the Nashville Soccer Club, & Flea Market. The City of Berry Hill, nestled on the edge of downtown, is the hottest real estate in Tennessee, offering a close yet perfectly 2.6-mile journey to Broadway.
On our street, many homes have been converted into offices—zoned Mixed-Use; this allows one to openly conduct business from one`s Suite. There are 2 parking slots per Suite for guests and visitors off the street, usually with more spaces if needed.
Suite #4 has a `Visitable` home office—your visitors with handicap limitations can easily access your front office-living room area—zero-step entrance & walkways; 36` entrance & restroom doors; & a wheelchair-accessible restroom. There is a dedicated van-accessible parking spot, one wheelchair ramp that leads to the 1st-floor walkway & an accessible shared patio in front of the building. Also, for those who stay in Suite #4, additional railing supports are in the step-in shower and a shower stool. Suite #3 has larger 5-foot turning areas with an accessible kitchen. Still, Suite #4 is perfect for individuals with low mobility and can accommodate a wheelchair with 36` doors throughout.
Lock away your private area—each Suite has a keypad on the front office-living room door, with interior keyed doors to lock off the bedroom and shower/laundry area. This allows you to share your office-living room with your visitors and co-workers while blocking access to your personal space. You may deadbolt lock the front door at night for added security and block access to the keypad if you`ve shared your private code with a co-worker or visitor.
A Shared Patio in front of the building extends beside the Tree Boxes along the string of lights. If smoking bothers others on your private deck, the space by the Tree Boxes is a nice area to get away from the building and smoke freely. Please do not smoke inside.
We will assist with additional parking when needed. Parties over 8 must be prearranged with us for appropriate parking and to ensure no overlapping events with other guests and outdoor spaces. Berry Hill Police will enforce the maximum visitors of 20 per Suite. They patrol our community, know us all, and do a great job keeping us all safe.
We`re ~2.6 miles away from the heart of downtown Nashville off 8th Avenue/Franklin Pike, a main corridor with bus transit. Rideshares (Uber & Lift) are readily available. You can usually find a rental scooter set along the streets or several rental bicycle racks in town—one close by at Sevier Park on Kirkland Ave. Downtown has several guided sightseeing tours via bus, trolley, tractor & trailer, helicopter, party bus, golf cart, horse & carriage, and more. There are often art galleries & tasting `crawls`—guided walking tours. Parking in Berry Hill is limited but available. Downtown parking lots & garages fill up during significant city events, but slots are usually available. When downtown, for your safety, park in a well-lit area near busy streets where other people are around.
Every kitchen is well stocked with baking and cookware, both casual and nice plates, stemware, and just about everything you`ll need to feel at home. Below the kitchen sink, you`ll find dish cleaning supplies, including dish soap and dishwasher pods. When you leave, the dish brush, if used, goes into the dishwasher, and the sponge is replaced.
Drip coffee makers are provided with 2 flavors of sealed coffee packages—Maxwell House medium dark and dark roast Cafe Bustelo. You may take home whichever package you open if you`d like; open packages will be thrown out. There is also a kettle with green and black tea bags and a few hot chocolates. We also provide 4 organic milk boxes and some munchies.
Your apartment has a washer and dryer with fragrance-free washer soap. We provide towels and linens, a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soaps. The linens for the 2nd bed do not remain in the Suite—during the booking process you can arrange for additional guests and the 2nd bed will be completely setup with your prompted request.

The WestWood Shed — originally built in 1986 for Gaertner Cabinet Company's wood shop; Robert, a master craftsman & his wife Judy, a designer began renovating the ole' WoodSHOP into the WestWood SHED before the 2020 pandemic. Robert is a retiring high-end cabinet maker who wants to go fishing. He loves nature and he's ready to take a hike! Judy, his wife loves her work being a creative and will probably never stop marketing and developing new things, unless there's some great music playing. Together, they've created some interesting pieces of furniture and living spaces during their 30(+) years together. Their latest creation, the conversion of Robert's workshop, and they're inviting you into the ole' wood shop, to see the new chic WestWood Shed.
Both having worked from home offices for over 30 years, understood the convenience and need for these unique office designs, where your private living quarters remain locked way from your business patrons. Berry Hill's business district allows this unique home office experience, and the Gaertner's are happy to share it with you — a space to work & relax.
We wish to give you your privacy and maintain ours. However, we're next door (or, our on-call assistant is a few blocks away), and available for urgent matters if they occur.

Our motto: "Use It or Lose It!" So we've found "Use" for many things in spaces that work. This place is all about — workflow for working, comfort for living, & functionality.
