About this property
The Farmers Cabin
Please Read Before Booking. Step back in time and enjoy our rustic cabin couples retreat. No insulation or drywall, restored just as it was in 1865. The setting is rural and tranquil with lots of nature and farm animals, a beautiful place to relax and unplug. Conveniently located close to the Intersection of I-74 and I-55. Close to Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan Universities and Rivian Motors.
As our guest you will have access to our farm surroundings. The bedroom loft provides a beautiful country view of the eastern pasture. Our cabin includes a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. The cabin is stocked with plates, glasses, coffee cups and silverware. Need some fresh air? The front porch is a wonderful place to sit and read a book, play a guitar or just listen to the sounds of nearby nature. There is a small fire pit as well as a park like charcoal grill just outside the cabin entrance. NOTE: Just a few steps away you will have access to the private bathhouse with a new Toilet and Shower, the walls are lined with aromatic cedar with private entrance. Why not in the cabin? In the 1860’s bathrooms were not a thing!
If you're looking for adventure instead of a boring hotel room, this is the place for you! Please be advised this is a working farm. It is 100 + years old and we cannot promise you may not see a bug or two. We have a few farm animals that need daily attention so you may see someone wondering around at some point. Just wave if you need anything, we’re happy to help out.
Note: 3 night maximum stay.

About the host
Hosted by Farmers Wife

Located in central Illinois.
Our Farm originated in the 1890’s
We care for animals: the Nigerian goats and kids, roosters, hens and chicks, guard dogs and barn cats.
We tend: the vegetable & herb gardens, hay fields, pastures and protect the wild places in between.
We build and repair: barns, sheds, garden beds, animal pens, fences and chicken coops.
We harvest: milk from the goats, eggs from the hens, fiber from the alpacas for spinning, hay from the pasture for winter food, herbs for cooking and vegetables for the kitchen table.
We compost: reuse and recycle.
We convert: sunlight to solar energy and the wind into electricity.
