About this property
Fully remodeled corner home, 3 blocks from Main Street and across from the park.
The Jefferson house in Sheridan.
Thank you for looking at our home! We rebuilt this house specifically for short term stays and believe everything you need to have a comfortable and relaxing stay has been thought through and provided. We hope that you will love what it has to offer you, your family, and friends.
When we envisioned the Jefferson home, we wanted to have a large, (2300 Square foot ) home, where individuals could really rest and fully enjoy their time in beautiful Sheridan County. The home is easy entry with key code. The kitchen is fully stocked and equipped with a 5 foot wide refrigerator freezer, an under-mount microwave drawer, one touch faucet, full size oven, full dishwasher and 30" one touch electric stove. For coffee, there is both a Keurig and coffee pot. Instant hot water is supplied for tea lovers as well, at the kitchen sink.
The rear blinds to the back of the home are one touch operated and can be easily raised and lowered by the touch of your finger. Both the fireplaces in the living room and in the basement bedroom are electric, and can be turned on with a flick of a switch and then a press of the power button located on the right of the fireplaces.
The house has a whole house water filtration system and then a R.O. system as well at the main level kitchen sink that again, provides instant hot/cold water as well as cold and filtered water to the refrigerator ice maker.
The home was built with little to no VOC (volatile organic compounds) and most furniture is rated with a CertiPUR-US® certification including all the beds.
Located in Old Town Sheridan Wyoming, just 6 minutes off interstate 25, the property sits on the corner at 256 S. Jefferson Street and S. Whitney. You will find all the parking you need on both sides of Whitney street, which is a very quiet area. Directly across the street from the home is the local sled hill and town park with steps leading up to the top. There is great wintertime fun watching from the house as kids fly down the hill and/or get your sled out and participate! The home is 3 blocks from historic Main Street which offers historic buildings, great coffee shops, bars, restaurants, art displays and shops. Also, every Thursday in the summer is farmers market at the Whitney Commons, and every 3rd Thursday, Main Street is closed in the afternoon to traffic for a street festival.
The home is also just 4 blocks from Kendrick Park which offers walkways along Little Goose Creek, playgrounds, elk and buffalo area, a community pool and plenty of wildlife almost anywhere you go. The Park also has a band shell hosting bands as well as theater events through the summer months. Don’t forget to stop by the historic ice cream shop there in the park as well. There are also miles and miles of walking/bicycle trails in and around Sheridan.
There is an additional apartment above the house which is described in VRBO as The Jefferson Suite # 3865400 if you need more room for guests.
Located just a short drive from the Big Horn mountains, you will find wide empty spaces of wilderness with breathtaking views in all directions. one of our favorite parts of The Jefferson home is that the house is situated completely away from the clamor of noise and traffic of Main Street. It is a restful and peaceful location where guest can enjoy days of activities and later relax in a home that has been truly designed to offer the highest amenities of a home to our guests. Be on the lookout for deer and turkeys as they can be in the yard at almost any time as well.
HISTORY: Jefferson house, to the best of our knowledge, was a coal miners’ home, and was built in 1906. When we purchased the house, the entire foundation was sitting directly on the ground. Through 2 ½ years of complete and total restoration and additions, we completed the transformation of this very special home on January 26th, 2024. The Jefferson house main level and basement, not including the 600 square foot, apartment above is again 2,300 square feet and is much larger than you think when you see it from the outside.
Although tearing down the home and starting new would have been a less expensive proposition, we chose to keep much of the original shape of the old home. Through the adding of multiple I beams and additions to the home both front, back, and basements, we found a treasure trove of artifacts that span the time periods of this old place. Tearing walls apart and opening floors, we found so much history. From toys, hand artwork, clothing, magazines and books to newspapers during prohibition speaking of arrests in town, while an empty Sheridan whiskey bottle was lying next to the paper. As you can imagine, we loved learning more about this home and the rich history it had stored inside of its walls.
We hope you get a chance to create your own history here, where modern convenience is integrated with old west Sheridan style.

About the host
Hosted by curtis vernon

Hello there, my name is Curtis and what i love to do is build things, mostly homes. I also enjoy snow skiing, travel and being with my family. I love being a host because I get to talk to people from all across the country. I love sharing the things God has blessed me with.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it is on a very quiet corner and a great place to BBQ out on the back deck or to sit out front and look across to the park. There is great parking all along the street, both in front of the home and on both sides of the side street. The house is walking distance to Main Street but where it sits is a very quiet area of town.
What makes this property unique
This house was built in 1906. It was only 1200 square feet when I purchased it. After a 2 1/2 year remodel and two basements added the house now has 2,300 square feet on the main floor and basement and a 600 square feet apartment that is rented separately above. Everything from the house to all furniture inside is brand new. I believe that if someone sees the house they will know it has been very well thought out.
