We'll talk about our visit to Portland for a long time!" – Peter

☆☆ BEDROOMS ☆☆

This West End townhouse accommodates 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom is located on the third floor and is fitted with a king-size bed, two dressers and a closet for extra storage. The second king bedroom is located on the second floor and has a dresser and a small closet. The first twin bedroom is located on the second floor and has one bed and a dresser. PLEASE NOTE THIS BEDROOM ONLY HAS A CURTAIN FOR PRIVACY. It's more of a loft-area than a bedroom. The other twin bedroom is located on the third floor and also is an open-concept room. PLEASE NOTE THIS ROOM DOES NOT HAVE A DOOR FOR PRIVACY. It's located right outside of the master bedroom. This room has two twin beds as well as a sectional couch that one person can sleep on comfortably. There's a second projector in this room for late night movie watching on the cozy sectional couch. Enough room for 6-7 people to hang out comfortably.

☆☆ BATHROOMS ☆☆

There are two full bathrooms in the home, each of them stocked with all the essentials you need for the duration of your stay. The first bathroom is located on the second floor, in between the king and twin bedrooms, and has a super unique wet-bath style rain shower. The walls have a Tadelakt finish. The second bathroom is an ensuite to the master bedroom on the third floor. There is a beautiful tub with a skylight, and a hand-held shower head.

☆☆ KITCHEN & LOUNGE AREA ☆☆

The bright and airy chefs kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils and cookware you need to feel at home - commercial range, sub-zero fridge, ice maker, copper pots and pans, chefs knives, coffee grinder, coffee maker, coffee & teas, spices and herbs, milk, sugar, baking basics, flour etc. The floor is made out of recycled chalkboard. If you like to cook, you'll appreciate the kitchen! PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN THE STOVE IS IN USE IT CAN GIVE OFF A SMELL OF GAS AS IT IS A COMMERCIAL GRADE RANGE. Between guests we leave the pilot lights for the stovetop and oven off, so you will need to re-light these if you wish to use the stove/oven during your stay. We have an instructional video in our guidebook to walk you through this.

The kitchen has French doors that open up to the "secret garden" which has a small deck and a grill, perfect for grilling up fresh Maine seafood and meats. The dining area seats 10 guests at a large table.

The living room area is equipped with a projector that you can connect to your laptop with an HDMI input cable that is provided. There are a variety of board games and books on the shelves for your entertainment.

☆☆ OUTSIDE SPACE ☆☆

We call the backyard the "secret garden" (photos coming soon!!). There is a small deck with a gas grill, a fire pit and a small fenced in yard for dogs to play. Stratton Place has a large common lawn right out front that is perfect for a summer picnic.

There are a several parks in the area. This home is located in the heart of Downtown Portland and surrounded by charming shops, lush green spaces, wide sidewalks, and shady picnic areas.

We are only 25 minutes from the state park beaches and the nearby lakes, and only 75 minutes from the snow ski mountains in winter.

IMPORTANT DETAILS REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING:

- There are a lot of stairs in this home, several of which are not suitable for very young children.
- As mentioned above, the commercial range in the kitchen can give off a gas smell when in use. We advise to turn the gas off when not in use if this bothers you. Between guests we leave the pilot lights for the stovetop and oven off, so you will need to re-light these if you wish to use the stove/oven during your stay. We have an instructional video in our guidebook to walk you through this.
- This is an older, lived-in home and you will experience creaky floors and open-concept bedrooms. We feel this adds to the home's charm :)
- There are no TVs in the house! We encourage our guests to get out and about and experience everything this amazing city has to offer! This is not your typical "smart home"
- This home sleeps 7 guests in 5 beds - if you have 8 people please note that one will need to sleep on the couch in the living room or 3rd floor loft room.

A Bit of Provence in Portland
My husband, 2 adult children, 1 (adult) son-in-law and I stayed two nights at this unusual home in March while attending a Portland wedding. The communication with Nick leading up to and throughout our stay was excellent. We had not arrived more than ten minutes when we started talking about when we could possibly return to Portland together and again visit this house! The property was clean, very well-appointed, comfortable, and full of great books and eclectic artwork. We did not have much time to cook, but kitchen had everything one would need to do so - good pans, a nice long table for gather family and a keurig for morning coffee. We had the pleasure of watching a movie on the big screen in the living room the first night and had plenty of space (and hot water) for all five of us to get ready for the wedding the next day. The whole place has a vibe that reminded me of places we have stayed in Europe. It is a vertical home, so you need to be comfortable with lots of stairs, but if you are looking for a lovely home that absolutely does NOT feel like a hotel room, I would recommend this rental.
