About this property

Restorative Mountain Sanctuary with Hot Tub, Minutes from the Mountains

This is a home built for the art of the "slow stay." For two years, we have maintained a perfect five-star record by focusing on the details that matter: the texture of the linens, the sound of the water, and the luxury of having absolutely nowhere to be. Situated on a private lot where a river runs directly through the backyard, this is a "quiet luxury" retreat designed for families who want to reconnect in total comfort.

The heart of the home is designed for decompression. The living room features a massive Restoration Hardware Cloud Sofa, offering the kind of sink-in comfort that makes après-ski (or a rainy afternoon) feel like an event. We’ve carved out space for the quiet moments, too; you’ll find intentional reading nooks tucked throughout the house and a dedicated puzzle table ready for a multi-day project by the fire.

Sleep is treated as a priority here. Every bed is outfitted with heavyweight, high-end sheets and premium layers to ensure a hotel-quality night’s rest. In the primary suite, a deep clawfoot soaking tub offers a private sanctuary for recovery after a day on the trails or a long afternoon of shopping.

The property itself is the main attraction. A private river winds through the backyard, complemented by a serene pond that anchors the landscape. The expansive deck serves as an outdoor living room, featuring a massive dining table for alfresco family meals and a high-end hot tub positioned for stargazing and listening to the water.
While you are tucked away in total privacy at Magic Mountain, you are perfectly positioned to explore the best of Southern Vermont.
• Skiing: 15–20 minutes to the varied terrain of Stratton, Bromley, and Okemo.
• Nordic Life: Immediate access to world-class cross-country ski trails.
• Curation: A short drive to the Manchester Designer Outlets and the refined boutiques and bookstores of Manchester Village.

Amelia was a gracious host and answered all our questions. The house has so much character and we had everything we needed. We had our very own skating pond and our grown children made great use of it. Hopefully in the future we would be able to use the hottub and firepit. It snowed 3 of the 5 days which just added to the charm and coziness. The bedrooms were well appointed and bathrooms had wonderful walkin showers. We made use of the fireplaces which my wife loved. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Amelia

Quaint Getaway

We loved staying in Amelia’s wonderful home! It was a short 20 min from Okemo ski resort and provided all of features we needed. Thank you for everything and for being so attentive!

Exceptional House and property

During this season of gratitude we felt so lucky to stay at such a well appointed and lovely home. Unlike many rental homes that are stripped of personality, this home was full of charm and lovingly designed touches. From the cookware to the bedding the home was welcoming and comfortable. The kitchen and living room in particular were of good size for our entire group to eat and relax comfortably each with its own fireplace.

Fun Getaway

Went to Vermont with another family (4 adults, 4 children). The house was just the right size for us and looked mostly like the pictures. Pros: 1) Super cute rustic home but well renovated to keep the charm with modern touches. 2) The place is well cleaned and comfortable with books, games and puzzles. 3) The kitchen is very well stocked with everything we could need. 4) Beds were clean and comfortable. 5) Bathrooms spacious and clean. 6)The yard has so much to offer with a lovely deck and hot tub. There is a pond with a raft and a river running through the back yard. A nice fire pit with chairs. The kids really enjoyed exploring the property. 7) The cute New England town of Chester is nearby with shopping and restaurant. Cons: 1) The hot water smelled strongly of sulfer/rotten eggs. No one felt comfortable drinking the water. We went out for big jugs of water. 2) The house is close to a mildly busy road. 3) There were no house instructions. It would have been nice to have write-ups on how to use the heat, the hot tub, that trash is picked up on Mondays, if the water was drinkable, as well as departing instructions about how we should leave the home. We had a very comfortable and fun stay. I highly recommend.
