About this property
The Blue Peter House at Jamestown Village - Walk Downtown + 5 min drive to beach
The Blue Peter House is a stunning getaway for 6 guests located on the picturesque island of Conanicut (Jamestown, Rhode Island). In nautical terms, the Blue Peter indicates "the ship is ready to sail"... and sail away you do!!!
Our guests arrive into the completely private main house into a casually elegant living room with lots of room to spread out. The primary kitchen feature 2 ovens, gas-stove, dishwasher, fridge and all small appliances. There is also a small pantry and coffee station. The Blue Peter also has a professional chef in residence in the lower South Suite (He available for meal preparation and small events at an additional charge). Also on the main floor is a window dining nook seating up to 8 guests. Off the kitchen there is also the breakfast balcony for quiet conversations. The first floor living area is cooled by a window air conditioner.
The Blue Peter House includes a phenomenal master bedroom en suite featuring king size bed, a huge walk-in shower with a variety of showerheads, separate soaker/jetted tub and a beautiful sitting area. Also, the Turret Bedroom (king-size bed) and the charming Cottage Bedroom (queen-size bed) both with fantastic views of pastoral fields, huge gardens and distant views of Newport Bridge. Also, on the second floor is a extraordinary lounge for quiet evening chats . The second floor bedrooms and lounge have central air conditioning.
Exiting living room French Doors you are on the an expansive, deck and a huge backyard with with lots of room to entertain, a large grill and lawn seating. The deck features a six-person round dining table as well as additional seating. The lush yard offers a shady hammock for an afternoon snooze, fire-pit for evening chats, andagain a hard-gassed propane grill.
The Blue Peter House is located within ½ mile of the quaint village with restaurants, shopping, marinas, salons/spas and the Newport Ferry service. The Blue Peter House is in a quiet, very upscale neighborhood. It's a super easy stroll downtown and tucked away from the noise, hub-bub and inconveniences of local traffic and busyness.
Our House has plenty of off-street parking as well as storage area for bikes, kayaks, and other outdoor toys. The local Jamestown Outdoors (an easy, walk) is the go-to for renting bikes, kayaks, and more. Island Heron and Jamestown Fitness offers additional workout/relaxing experiences for your visit. Mackerel Cove Beach is a smidge over a mile walk. If you choose to ramble to the beach, there is a large wagon to transport beach items. I prefer popping over to Potter's Cove (2 miles) and enjoying the easy, free parking, wonderful wading and lovely Northern Island views.
If you are visiting in Late June or Early July look for the Jamestown Art Center's Annual Soiree !! Its a fantastic opportunity to dress up, enjoy great food and drink, and experience art in a totally different venue !
Beavertail Lighthouse, Fort Getty and Fort Wetherill (Internationally recognized for diving exploration.) are also within minutes biking or driving.
* The Property Owner and the Private Chef maintain separate living quarters at The Blue Peter House.
*Thank you for understanding, we DO NOT host children UNDER 18, nor do we allow them as guests without prior notification/permission. Once again, no infants, no babies, no toddlers, no middle schoolers, no tweens or teens.

About the host
Hosted by Amy Brayton

I owned + ran one of the largest restaurants in Newport County for many years and hospitality is in my soul! I strive for only your 5-star reviews (you can visit my other VRBO The Minnows on Egret Cove, which has fantastic reviews). I am the constant concierge and I am happy to guide you to local events + activities.
I am creeping into my 60's, so I only host mature guests, since it's what I know. My homes are designed and decorated with high-end features, beautiful furniture/antiques, original art and all the amenities.

Why they chose this property
Westwind is an estate area with all the homes located on substantially sized lots, many with large gardens, fields and water views. Our yard backs up to our favorite neighbor who is regularly passing us fresh organic produce and eggs. Don't be surprised if the chickens find their way into the yard. There is no rooster.
Yet, what truly makes our location unique is it is perfectly located for an easy ramble into the village ! We are in easy walking distance (less than 1/2 mile) to restaurants + bars, library, Jamestown Art Center (If you visit in late June you ABSOLUTELY want tix to the Annual Soiree!), Ferry Service (Easy hop on to downtown Newport, Folk + Jazz Festivals and wonderful way to get on the water) shopping, water activities, etc.
We get all the access without the inconvenience of traffic, parking and noise!
