About this property

Industrial-Chic Studio, Full Kitchen Near Hotspots

The Industrial by Villa Chiaroscuro is a spacious 600 sq. ft. industrial-chic studio for up to four guests, thoughtfully designed for guests looking for something beyond the ordinary hotel or rental stay.

Warm, comfortable, and full of character, the space pairs authentic industrial elements with modern amenities—including a full kitchen and bath—creating a distinctive getaway that feels both polished and inviting.

And the industrial character here isn't just a design theme. It's part of the building's story.

Originally built as the property’s brick garage, the building was later converted into a working metal shop where custom metalwork was created. After we purchased the property, we gave the building another life as the offices for Stoney’s digital marketing company.

When the company was sold, the building began its next chapter, and The Industrial was born. We separated the two levels, added a full kitchen and bath downstairs, and transformed the former workspace into the guest retreat you see today.

Rather than erase its past, we embraced it. The massive original steel beam running through the center of the space remains a defining feature, while the slightly uneven floors are a reminder of its beginnings as a working garage. Antique and vintage-inspired pieces—including an antique sewing table, the kitchen's clock table, and an old mirror—bring warmth and history to the rugged industrial surroundings.

The result is a space that balances old and new, rugged and refined, character and comfort. We’ve also gone to great lengths to ensure The Industrial is exceptionally clean and thoughtfully prepared for every guest.

A note about the property: The Industrial is a private downstairs unit with its own separate entrance and dedicated parking. The upper level is a separate, long-term residential rental with its own entrance and parking, and there are no shared interior spaces. The backyard is shared with guests staying at neighboring Duskhaven 1875.

If you're looking for a memorable Northeast Ohio getaway with a story and style all its own, welcome to The Industrial.

Hidden gem. Absolutely amazing place for me and my girlfriend. Hosts were very thoughtful in everything they did. From providing snacks, coffees and beverages in the kitchen to everything you’d need in the bathroom. Highly recommend this place for a stay in the Akron area. Place was very clean and we felt very at home. Hosts were very responsive and considerate.

Stoney and Terese are from Oregon and Minnesota, respectively. We're both homebodies who enjoy playing games with friends, going out to eat, and enjoying the occasional concert. Both love movies and shows so we're all caught up on our pop-culture knowledge. You can often find us chilling on the front porch or back patio listening to music, watching the sunset, viewing the passing thunderstorms, or squealing (Terese) at the backyard wildlife. On summer weekends, you might catch us watching a movie on the outdoor projector screen. Popcorn provided!

Why they chose this property

The Industrial is just a 10 minute drive from three prime shopping, event, and historical cities: North Canton, Green, and Hartville. We're surrounded by wineries and visiting Amish country is an easy day-trip

What makes this property unique

"The Industrial" is unlike any other! Our guests are treated to a spacious, industrial-chic 600 sf luxury studio apartment for two.

We know cleanliness is important when you travel, so we go the extra mile to ensure the unit is pristine when you arrive.

If you're tired of staying at the old same-same of other homes, apartments, and hotels, this is the place for you. It's the perfect unique getaway for two you've been looking for.

Nestled alongside a home built in 1875, The Industrial has been updated and modernized while maintaining the utility feel from its roots. Originally built as a brick garage, the building was later expanded to include an upstairs apartment. The downstairs was then converted into a metal shop, which created custom-made metal works.

When the current owners purchased the property in 2012, the home and the secondary building underwent significant updates. (Tours of the home can be arranged for the curious.) The metal shop was converted into an office for a digital marketing company, with the downstairs as the primary work area and an additional office and conference room upstairs.

After the business sold, more construction began, and "The Industrial" was born. A full kitchen and bath were added, while keeping the original steel support beam in place, keeping "The Industrial" in touch with its roots. The owners went to great lengths to maintain the rugged, metal styling of an industrial space while giving guests a crisp and clean stay that balances the old with the new.
