Pluses: Great location making it easy to go off and explore. Plenty of parking and plenty of space in the rental.Things that could have been better: the house was very cold when we checked in (we were there in December). And since we arrived later in the evening, the bedrooms really didn’t have a chance to warm up and it was chilly for sleeping. The top step outside was broken making entering and leaving the house challenging. We notified the owner immediately upon arrival and the answer we received was “yes the cleaning company noticed this, we will try and get someone over to fix it.” We stayed 2 nights and the step was still broken when we left. Given that this is the only way in and out of this property, this made the icy weather conditions more challenging with a broken step. For the nightly rate of this property plus the cleaning fee, I had higher expectations.

UB graduation weekend

I can’t tell you how much we appreciated this stay. With family members coming in from different areas some staying at neighboring hotels, it was a perfect meeting place to relax between events and enjoy the end of this journey. The house was clean, all amenities and conveniences made the stay easy and comfortable.

We spent a full week at this lovely home in a quiet neighborhood with seven adults, and the space was more than generous for all of us. We loved having room to spread out, relax on the front porch, and enjoy each other’s company. The location was excellent as most attractions were only about 20 minutes away by car, and Gateway Harbor was just a 15-minute walk.Unfortunately, there were some issues with cleanliness and maintenance. Upon arrival, we found that the house didn’t seem thoroughly prepared for guests. The floors weren’t fully vacuumed, the bathroom walls had noticeable grime, and some dishes in the cupboard were dirty. Towels were carelessly folded, and there wasn’t enough toilet paper even for the first day. There were no spare trash bags and several lights were either out or flickering. Also we ran into the occasional spider or bug inside the house. The outside trash bins had maggot-infested garbage left from previous tenants.We did reach out to the owner via text with photos of some of these issues. Although we received a polite “thank you,” there was no further follow-up. This home genuinely has wonderful potential, and with more attentive cleaning services and maintenance, it could be a five-star experience. Given the situation, we would have been satisfied with a four-star stay if the cleaning fee had been refunded or acknowledged. With some improvements, future guests will undoubtedly enjoy all this home and its location have to offer.

Disappointing

We were extremely disappointed with the property. Our first letdown was discovering there was no toilet paper or paper towels. Then we realized we had only one towel and one pillow, which was the worst pillow I’ve ever slept on. When we contacted the owner, the response was, "Sorry, I guess the cleaning crew didn't restock. There should be plenty of pillows and towels in the linen closet." There weren’t. Next, we found food in the refrigerator and freezer. The owner's response was, "You can throw that out if you want." Many of the TVs didn't work because they were unplugged, and we couldn't find working remotes. The owner's response was, "They should all be working." While searching for the missing remotes, we noticed the property was exceptionally dirty. We found candy wrappers and an empty beer bottle in one of the nightstands, and under the beds, we discovered an empty mason jar, kids' toys, and old socks. In the upper unit, the ceiling fans were caked with dust, and again, only one towel and one pillow were provided. The couch was worn out, particularly the arms, which were covered with placemats. Finally, the hot water was scalding hot, resulting in my wife getting burned. Additionally, the thermostat couldn't be set below 70 degrees, and the downstairs unit had ants.
