About this property

Beautiful Garden, Entire Home in the Old Town

Welcome to our house "Casa Rosa" which is located right next to St. Athanasius gate. You are now in the “Turkish neighbourhood” which is one of the many cross cultural neighbourhoods of the Old Town. Here you will have the chance to live in a traditional restored medieval home.

The Garden
The private patio with bougainvillea and banana trees will help you capture the magic essence of the Mediterranean atmosphere. The high stone walls surrounding the garden offer privacy and tranquillity. Equipped with tables, chairs, deck chairs and a big umbrella for sun protection and the BBQ area, this the perfect place to relax, read a book or enjoy a glass of wine.

The House
Ground floor: From the entrance, you enter the comfortable spacious dinning - living room (with fire place, a sofa- bed, screen TV- Netflix etc, table and chairs), the kitchen and a bathroom.
The kitchen has all the necessary facilities for self-catering, including an electric cook and oven, the fridge freezer and dishwasher, kettle, filter coffee machine, toaster. Plus there is a washing machine and ironing facilities.

In the upper floor there are two bedrooms with double beds air-condition and ceiling fan giving that extra cool breeze for a good night sleep. There is also a second bathroom and a shower room.
Our home can accommodate up to 5 people. We provide all necessary linen and towels. Hot water supply is constant, powered by solar energy. All windows and doors have insect protection net. There are also a Fire extinguisher, a First Aid Kit and a safe. It is available on request a cot and a highchair for a baby.

The neighborhood
Our home is located in a quiet neighborhood near the center, while also sheltered from the noise of the city. All sights of the Old Town, monuments, museums, shopping market, pharmacy and entertainment district with taverns, restaurants and bars, are within a 5 - 10 minute walk from the house. In the picturesque streets surrounding the house you will find monuments, mini markets, bakeries, tourist’s accommodations and souvenir shops.


Transportation
Just outside the Gate of St. Athanasius, (2 min. walk) ,there is a taxi station and a bus station (suburban & urban) leading you to the beaches and beyond. There is also free parking space available right next to St. Athanasius gate.

We really enjoyed our stay at the secret garden house. It is situated in an ideal location which allowed us to explore the old town of Rhodes and beyond. The property is a small traditional house which was ideal for the three of us. Although the photos of the bathroom and shower are shown in the description we were a little surprised to find the shower was not in with the other toilet facilities. However, this didn't cause us an issue. Our host Rosa was very friendly and welcoming and she gave us useful information about places to go to and see during our stay and she responded quickly to any questions we had.

Great little apartment in the middle of old rhodes

We loved our little apartment in old town Rhodes. It’s in the middle of locals and we enjoyed meeting with them! Lovely get together at the bakery right outside around the corner…:)) we loved that we had Aircondition and the beds were comfortable and the garden lived up to our imagination… a very special place!

Wonderful Old City location!

We had an amazing time at this house! The location was great, right in the old city and walking distance to the local beach. Everything was clean and organized very well. The house had everything we needed, including great recommendations for local restaurants. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. Nestled within an ancient town

We loved our experience staying within the old city walls. The apartment was perfect! Located next to St Athanasius Gate, we were close to our car for shopping, daily excursions and great restaurant experiences. Each day we learned about the wonder of this magical community. Museums, fabulous bakeries, a great wine/spirit shop and local farmers markets all within walking distance of our apartment. Above all, our host Rosa was very accommodating and friendly- providing helpful suggestions and recommendations to maximize our vacation experience. The neighborhood was very welcoming, and we are confident to return to this special location again to experience this historical Rhodesian life.

cute house in the old town

Together we were five friends staying in Rosas house. The house is really nice and sweet. Especially the garden is a dream! Perfect for good weather! Inside the house it’s a bit dark, but in summer you will eat, play and relax in the garden anyway. The house is located in the middle of the old town of Rhodos city and the old town is incredibly beautiful! When there were problems Rosa was available at any time and always supportive. You can not get a nicer host and that matches the sweetness of the house perfectly! Thank you very much, I really can recommend staying here :)

Magical home in the heart of the Old City

What an amazing and unforgettable stay we had in Rosa's home in the Old City of Rhodes! The house is a very special place: it's clean, cozy, comfortable, and full of personal touches. We had a fully equipped kitchen and cupboards were filled with basics you may need for making a quick meal like salt, cooking oil, coffee, and even snacks. Bathrooms had all the basics like soap, shampoo, hairdryer and even a small medicine cabinet. There were plenty of sheets and towels you can throw in a washing machine if need be. The garden is a peaceful and cozy place to have meals or to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Internet was super fast and always on. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and very close to one of the main gates. We made friends with local shop owners and neighbors who are very sweet and hospitable people. But above all, Rosa, our Greek Goddess of Hospitality, is the highlight of our stay in Rhodes. She was always there to answer questions or help with whatever we needed. Rosa met us at the gate, helped us to haul our luggages to her home and greeted us with delicious local fruit and cookies (my son's favorite!). Whenever we needed something, we were able to contact her via WhatsApp and she answered immediately. We miss her already and can't wait to return to stay in her home again. Efharisto, Rosa and Rhodes! With love from California from Alina, Huseyin and Aslan.

Tolle Zeit in der Altstadt von Rhodos

Das Haus hat eine perfekte Lage in der Altstadt von Rhodos. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fußläufig schnell erreichbar. Trotzdem ist es sehr ruhig und man kann gut schlafen. Rosa war so nett uns zur Begrüßung schon ein paar Dinge (Wasser, Saft, Kekse) bereitzustellen. So konnten wir uns erstmal erfrischen und dann den Einkauf erledigen. Rosa hat uns mit tollen Tipps für Restaurants und Ausflugstipps versorgt. Wir haben versucht alle Restaurants, die sie uns empfohlen hat, zu besuchen. Es hat sich immer gelohnt. Die Kommunikation war großartig und sehr nett. Selbst als wir spät abends noch eine Frage hatten, antwortete uns Rosa sofort und sehr nett. Wir würden das Haus jederzeit wieder buchen.

Zauberhafte Wohlfühloase zum Seele baumeln lassen

Wir wurden wie vereinbart abgeholt und zum liebevoll eingerichteten Häuschen begleitet. Dank der super Lage hatten wir alles, was zu unserem perfekten Urlaub gehört. Ruhe auf der Terrasse und Altstadtflair innerhalb weniger Minuten zu Fuß. Rosa hat uns einige Tips gegeben, wo man wirklich lecker essen gehen konnte. Wir waren das 2. Mal zu Besuch bei Rosa und Dora und es wird nicht das letzte Mal gewesen sein. Vielen Dank für einen erneuten wunderschönen Urlaub .

Prachtige woning ik de oude stad

We werden warm ontvangen door Rosa. Het was zeer leuk om te mogen verblijven in het huis waarin Rosa is opgegroeid. Het huisje is perfect gelegen in de oude stad. Dicht bij alle winkels en restaurants. Toch ligt het op een plaats waar je kan genieten van de rust. We waren zeker zeer tevreden over dit prachtige huisje.

A beautiful little haven

We loved our stay in Dora and Rosa's lovely little cottage with its beautiful hidden garden. The cottage is bright and cheerful and is equipped well for a holiday. Being inside the old walled town it is within walking distance of all the historic and tourist attractions, and the shops and tavernas. Although, with the maze of alleys in Rhodes it's still possible to get temporarily lost! Rosa went out of her way to make us welcome and feel at home and we would recommend this cottage to couples or small groups. Thank you Dora and Rosa for giving us such a lovely base to explore Rhodes.

Una casa accogliente nella città medioevale

Abbiamo soggiornato una settimana due adulti e due ragazzi. La casa è piccola (da considerare che è una cittadina medioevale) ma accogliente , stanze con colori diversi che creano un ambiente piacevole. Ha tutto quello che serve per rilassarsi e godere la vacanza. E' appena dentro le mura a pochi passi dal centro storico di Rodi ma tranquilla con un giardinetto dove è piacevole cenare . Dora è la proprietaria, premurosa e disponibile per ogni necessità o informazione. Ottimo soggiorno.

very nice house in Rhodos old Town

I stayed in the Blue house with a friend and it was just absolutely perfect with the two bedrooms and the two small bathrooms. We loved the garden (shadow) and the terrace on the first floor, where you could sit in the sun and lie on the sunbeds. On our arrival, which was late, approx. 23.00, we were met by Rosa, the daughter of Mrs. Zakopoulos, (we came by taxi) at the San Francisco Gate, and she brought as to the hjouse as taxi's are not allowed in the Old Town. We very much appriciated that she had put some food in the fridge for our breakfast, very thoughtful, and also a bottle of wine and some nuts. In the kitchen was also several kinds of tea, ground coffee and instant coffee, Sugar and salt. I rented many houses in the past, but never encountered such a thoughtful gesture. The part of the Old Town where we stayed was very quiet. There was a big supermarket about 10 minutes walk from our house and also there was a busstop nearby where we could catch a bus to several beaches and other destinations. We had a wonderful stay and because it was so nice to sit in the garden, we even ate every night outside in the garden instead of eating in a restaurant, of which there were also plenty around. The kitchen was very well equipped (perhaps a few more small cooking pans?) There was plenty to see in the Old Town and very interesting to walk around through these narrow cobbled Streets. Shoes with thick soles are really necessary to walk around there, otherwise you feel every pebble through you soles. The museum in the Grand Masters Palace was very interesting and the items were very well displayed. An absolute must. Our visit to Lindos with the local bus which took about one hour and a half (from the Busstation) was a bit disappointing, because it was very crowded with tourists and every house was either a restaurant or a souvenirshop. But there were a few parts that were not crowded and looked very nice.

Lovely little house in the middle of the old town, very quiet with very attractive garden space. Very helpful owners. House was very well equipped and a delight to stay in. A very comfortable, clean house and we would be very happy to stay their again.

Schönes Altstadthaus

Wir wurden herzlich begrüßt und abgeholt wie vereinbart. Das Altstadthaus ist sehr gepflegt und wirklich alles vorhanden, was man so braucht. Von den Küchenutensilien über Waschpulver, Spülmaschinentabs, Bügeleisen... Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und konnten auf der Terrasse frühstücken. Das Haus liegt im alten Kern von Rhodos und so konnten wir die gesamte Altstadt und auch den Hafen und Badestrand zu Fuß erreichen. Frau Catharina erklärte uns alles sehr genau und so konnten wir uns sehr schnell orientieren. Restaurants gibt es in der Nähe ausreichernd und alle bieten gute Küche an. Oft hatten wir Besuch von Katzen, die wir gerne fütterten.
