This was our second stay here and it was eve ln better than our first. We can’t wait to go back. The hosts are wonderful and the location is a perfect mix of being able to walk to Perkins Cove while being tucked into a peaceful setting among the trees.
The location is amazing right across the street and a short stroll to the foot bridge to Perkins Cove where we ate many meals since it was close and easy. Also, loved the access to the Marginal Way. We spent many hours sitting on the deck looking out to the sea. Perfect place for family to come and go from. Great vacation. Hosts were very attentive.
We had a wonderful time at the Bindery. It is a very special storied property, accessible to everything Perkins Cove and Ogunquit has to offer. We loved the fact that we had privacy but were a short 5 minute walk to restaurants, beaches and shopping. The owners were friendly, available and responsive. We felt at home immediately upon arrival. We can't wait to visit again!
For the second year our whole family enjoyed the rustic charm of John and Tessa's Perkins Cove home. The property and surroundings provide our family with just the type of relaxing atmosphere we look for in our summer get away.
We had a great time staying in this homey rustic cabin. Close to Perkins Cove and in walking distance to all that Ogunquit offers. Tess and John are wonderful hosts and very accessible and responsive.
For the third year our family spent a relaxing week in Ogunquit as guests of Tessa and John at their property, ' The Bindery'. This home combines rustic charm with a great location steps away from Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way. The breezy porch with ocean views is worth the trip on its own. As always Tessa and John are gracious hosts, and we certainly look forward to a return trip in the future. Bob and Kim
We truly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was beautiful mane comfortable. Tessa was a great host. She had great suggestions for things to do in the area and was available for anything we needed. Thanks for a great week!!
This is one of my all time favorite properties I’ve ever rented. The history of the property and the location were perfect. Hosts were lovely. Highly recommended

Thank you for those kind words Diana! We so enjoyed having you and are thankful you loved the cottage as much as we do. Hope to see you again!
What a wonder space and location. Hosts were so friendly and supportive. We had a wonderful week: walking to the cove for dinner, ice cream, music, etc., morning coffee on the screen porch with views of the ocean off in the distance, beach days at nearby beaches and long walks down marginal way. Just the ideal place for a family beach vacation.
Great old school Maine cottage in a fantastic location. Wonderful hosts, available but never in the way. Nice screened porch view of Perkin’s Cove. AC in bedrooms, but it can get hot midday. Especially in the main first floor area which is so fun to hang out in. Wonderful spot!
The house was located on a private road at the end of the street with a great view of Perkins Cove. Nice rustic cottage with high wood ceilings and large rooms. Stayed with my son and daughter for the week we all had a great time. Tessa was a very gracious host. Highly recommend it.
We had a nice relaxing week at this property. The location was very convenient to Perkins Cove. The family that owns this property was super sweet. I grew up in an old house, so it felt comfortable, however a few additional items in the kitchen would be nice like mixing bowls, measuring spoons and some cookware. The beds were comfortable, and the sheets were super soft, but I will say the couches in the living area were definitely well loved as were the bath towels. Nothing major, just some feedback for the owners to consider. The little pond on the property was so peaceful to sit next to and the view of the ocean from the front porch was amazing! Thank you for a great week.
I can't say enough about John and Tessa - incredible people and wonderful hosts. They are right on the property but you'd never know they are there unless you need something and they respond right away. The cabin is rustic - which we love - but so so cozy. Every amenity you could want has been thought of. It is a 5 minute walk to Perkins Cove and the area is filled with activities from shopping, beaching it, jet skiing and sailing - we did them all. Great family get away with room for all! So blessed to have found this wonderful getaway and incredible hosts!

Thank you so much for those kind words! We loved having you stay with us and hope we get to see you again in the future!
Came to town for a family gathering - 40+ from coast to coast. Loved coming back after our nightly gatherings and relaxing - LOL.
The last evening everyone came out for a Happy Hour/Trivia night. The main room is so spacious and holds so much character - it was an ideal spot. Afterwards, we walked across the bridge to Perkins Cove to enjoy the many dinner options.
Communication was good, place was clean and comfortable. The host, and family, were friendly and helpful.
I would love to return!
Had a great week with the whole family in Ogunquit. Having previously stayed closer to town in prior years, was not sure how being closer to Perkins Cove would turn out. Turned out great. Really enjoyed the proximity to Perkins Cove and Marginal Way. Plenty of dining and shopping options and an easy walk to downtown Ogunquit. The home provides both rustic charm and location to Ogunquit attractions. Found the home exactly as described and better. Really enjoyed views from the screen porch and the cooling breeze. Tessa and John are excellent hosts. We definetely recommend.
My son walked in the door and went WOW, I want to live here!...and we did for a week! I loved the vintage charm of the 1920's space, the big open room, the location, and the thoughtful touches that the owners did; lights were on when we came in (and so were air conditioners!) and we enjoyed the treats they left for us. The walk to Perkins Cove was literally five minutes and yet we were away from any real noise. We loved the seclusion of the pine grove. My morning ritual was to walk out on the screen porch and check the ocean view to see what the day would be like. We had everything we needed to cook, and outdoor grill, and there were beach chairs and towels available to take to the beach and the washing machine/dryer was a great perk. Everyone loved staying here! I would definitely rent again, and in fact am thinking about a fall getaway. Highly recommend. The hosts were helpful, available and very respectful of our privacy. Five stars!
My wife and three older children spent our first week of three in Ogunquit. We thoroughly enjoyed the Knight’s cottage. Quiet, yet a short walk to Perkins cove and the Meandering Way path to the Beach. We had a great week.
Charming summer cottage nestled in trees above Perkins Cove
This is exactly what we hoped it would be -- a rustic summer cottage with all the basics, including an old-fashioned kitchen with microwave and coffee machine, fireplace for cool evenings, laundry machines, wireless, and TV (if that's your thing). I preferred reading on the porch. The cottage has a peaceful wooded feel, even though it is just steps away from the cove and the art museum. The owners have deep roots in the town, and they are very attentive without being at all intrusive.
My husband and I had a great 2.5 week stay at the cottage. My adult children joined us for a week and there was so much room for all of us. More than enough space for 6 adults! This is a rustic old home but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The WiFi was strong and I had no problem working when I needed to.
John and Tessa (and their 2 beautiful kids) live on the property and are the nicest and most helpful hosts you could have. They’re available if you need them but give you total privacy also. They will gladly share the history of the house and John’s family in the area which added a lot of interest to our experience there. They are generous hosts who care that you enjoy your stay in Ogunquit. Being able to walk to Perkins Cove in just a few minutes for morning coffee or dinner or to walk the Marginal Way was a highlight of our trip! We definitely recommend John and Tessa’s place!
Our favorite rental vacation home ever. It is cozy and spacious. A beautiful setting in a wooded area while being very close to the shore. Tessa was the sweetest host imaginable.
Beautiful windows, comfortable rooms, open plan first floor with a fireplace and large porch with ocean view made this a great place to spend a couple of weeks. An easy walk to Perkins Cove and the Ogunquit Museum of Art. Owners Tessa and John were warm, helpful, and welcoming. Hope to stay again.
From check in to check out (which were easy and fast) we had the best week! Our home away from home had plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 5 year olds! The common area had enough space for my neices to play and color when we were just hanging out but also enough space for the adults to play games or just relax as well. You cannot beat the proximity to Perkins Cove, the Marginal Way and even to the restaurants and shops in Ogunquit. All within reasonable walking distance. The hostess and her family were right next door if we needed anything but the house had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend!
Private beautiful setting so close to the restaurants, shops and the water.

About the host
Hosted by Tessa Knight
I grew up in Minnesota and my husband John grew up less than a mile from the property. We met at UMaine and have loved hosting guests in these special homes that were passed down through Johns family. We love sharing what we know about the area and the history of this place. Our 2 young kids also love meeting our guests and chatting with them about the pond out back.
Why they chose this property
We love how peaceful this property is but also how close it is to Perkins Cove and the middle of Ogunquit. The pond and surrounding nature are a haven that we love coming home to.
Premier Host
They consistently provide great experiences for their guests
