About this property

Luxury Guesthouse just two blocks from SoCo

This luxury downtown property is ideally suited for one or two people but can sleep 4 guests in two queen beds. Located just two blocks from S. Congress (SoCo) and Lady Bird Lake, it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway or reprieve from a business trip. Walk to arts and entertainment or stay in and enjoy the privacy of the beautiful grounds. The guest house is an open space with 360 square feet and a 15-foot cathedral ceiling with exposed beams. There is a Queen bed on the main level and a queen bed in the loft plus one bathroom. The kitchen has everything you need including, one electric hotplate, microwave/convection oven, coffee pot, tea kettle, toaster, blender, under-counter refrigerator, and outdoor gas grill. The dining table seats four and the outdoor space has three club chairs, one additional chair, and a hammock. The owner lives on site but the outdoor space is separated by a fence. The house was built in 1928 and resembles a European cottage. The guesthouse was constructed in 2006 and recently remodeled in 2021. The property and grounds have been published in various magazines, featured in commercials, and have been open for public outdoor garden tours. Casement windows surround the guest house with beautiful views of the gardens and numerous heritage Live Oak trees. Google fiber is available for high-speed internet access. This property is for the exclusive enjoyment of paying guests only. There is a strict noise ordinance by 10:30 p.m.

Superbly located abode, clean and comfortable, with a private outdoor patio. Kitchenette was thoughtfully stocked. Tasteful decor with extra touches that elevate one's stay (monogrammed glasses, John Darien, Mario Bucovich framed prints...). Perfect abode for a couple, situated in a quiet spot surrounded by rustling trees, yet within easy walking distance to all the action.

What an amazing place!!! We were blown away by our hosts hospitality and how she has made the space feel so cozy! The property is right in the middle of everything but tucked away so you feel like you’re away from it all. Our favorite part was the end of each day sitting on the patio under the oak trees. Bed was super comfy, we slept soooo well! Highly recommend and definitely will be back!

This property is practically perfect. It was exactly as advertised, with no surprises other than how thoughtfully every little detail had been considered. From the filtered water spigot that saves you from buying plastic bottles, to the parking permit, to the basket for carrying your things up to the loft bed without having to manage them on the ladder, everything felt intentionally designed for comfort and ease.Michelle was incredibly kind and communicative throughout our stay. She even worked hard to make an early check-in possible after guests had just checked out before us, and somehow the place still looked spotless, like new. The atmosphere is charming, cozy, and beautifully decorated. It was very clean, well-stocked, and full of smart touches like luggage racks, plenty of hangers, and a surprisingly roomy closet. We also loved that the windows have screens, so you can enjoy the fresh air during the day and still close the curtains at night for privacy. The little gas fireplace was another cozy touch that made the space feel extra welcoming.The place is compact, but for two people it was perfect. My friend and I came to Austin for SXSW on a last-minute trip, and we truly felt like we found a hidden gem. The location is ideal, close enough to be about 10 minutes from all the action, but tucked away on a hill so it feels peaceful and quiet at night.We absolutely adored our stay. I would recommend this property without hesitation and would happily stay here again.

If Only We Could Have Stayed Longer...

My husband and I have stayed in some top-notch hotels all over the Austin area and this was by far our favorite trip. Michelle's guest house was in a prime location, within walking distance to South Congress Ave. We walked to brunch, our morning coffee, shopping, and "home" after a dinner and drinks out. It was quaint, quiet and cute. The guest house is tastefully decorated and makes you feel like you're at home, away from home. The patio was beautiful and was surrounded by live oak trees. We only wish we could have stayed longer and are already planning our return. Thanks again Michelle, you were an excellent host!

Very special property with nice touches. We really enjoyed having the fire during the winter. Cozy and romantic. Perfect location! The check in instructions mentioned hot water issues. I was able to get hot water in the shower, but only by using the “hot” tap only. I could not get hot water in the sink without a lot of trial and error. Super nice property, however some plumbing issues should be fine-tuned at this price.

Simply Amazing!!

What can I say about this Downtown Guest House that hasn't been said? Even after reading all the positive reviews and seeing all the wonderful pictures, my expectations were exceeded. First off, Michelle is an excellent host. She goes out of her way to provide everything you need to have the most enjoyable time. The location is perfect. There is so much to do within walking distance, as parking in Downtown Austin can be challenging. The house has everything you need to have a comfortable stay. Words cannot describe the amazing backyard that Michelle has constructed. I have never been more comfortable in a place, than I was in this backyard. The positive energy that flows through this area, is undeniable. To say I recommend this Guest House would be an understatement. It's just that good!

Simply Wonderful!

I almost hate to write this review because I don't want this rental to get so popular, we can't book it in the future...but, I am a nice person and want everyone to experience great things so I suppose I will write this positive review and share my love for this studio. My husband and I stayed here in Sept 2014. We absolutely LOVED it! It was super clean, smelled amazing, and just simply wonderful. It had great AC which was super important being that it is Texas after all. There are two beds. One on in the loft and one on the main floor. We were a little nervous about climbing the ladder to the loft bed so we slept on the main floor bed. It was super comfy and did the job after a long day exploring Austin. The little bohemian touches were great! It really made the space. We LOVED the bathroom. The size was perfect and the décor was lovely. The outside space was pure tranquility. The hammocks under those beautiful trees were just sublime. I wish we spent more time on them but we wanted to explore Austin too. Also, the neighborhood is super safe and right in SoCo. Easy walking to shops & restaurants. We cannot recommend this rental enough. It is the only place we will stay when we visit Austin from now on. Thanks again Michelle for a great stay!
