About the host
Hosted by Erin
Ted and Erin moved to New Haven from St. Louis when they bought the white frame church building that had been the town library. Erin fell in love with the sweet little church and knew that Ted, who has a degree in Architecture and many years experience renovating old buildings, would be able to create her dream house. Ted and Erin had been friends for many years and got married in the "church house" in 2019.
One Christmas the church was on the New Haven Preservation Society''s Candlelight House Tour. 200 people visited the house. Many had attended church there when they were young and spoke fondly of the many special occasions that took place there. The response to the renovations was so positive that Erin started thinking about converting the church house to a Bed and Breakfast Inn where local residents could house out of town visitors and host family gatherings.
At that time the main room still had commercial style flourescent light fixtures. It took Ted almost 2 years to make the lantern chandeliers modeled after the original church light fixtures. There are 100 pieces of wood in each lantern plus the handmade iron inserts.
Erin works in PR for a local coffee company and roastery owned by her daughter and son-in-law. Breakfast at Trinity Hill includes complimentary pots of fresh roasted organic coffee.

Why they chose this property
Trinity Hill B&B is in a historic neighborhood in a small town. Taking a short walk heading south you pass the Old School built in 1893 that housed the New Haven Elementary School for over a century. It has two museums displaying the history of New Haven from the original Native Americans. There is a path just up the hill from the Old School that takes you over to Miller Street and wraps around the beautiful Assumption Catholic Church. As you walk down Maiden Lane back to Maupin you will come upon St. Peter's United Church of Christ with its magnificent stained glass windows. Most of the houses you pass on Maupin were built in the early 1900s. Many of them are undergoing renovations.
Taking Maupin downhill toward the river will take you past lovely homes and the Central Hotel. The Thurman Park Scenic River Overlook is on Wall Street where Maupin ends. There is a swing overlooking the historic downtown area and steps (62 of them) leading all the way down to the shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique
It is a very large space. You could practice your ballet if you wanted. The acoustics are great. The very high ceilings and wide open space makes you feel like anything is possible. We hope you will find a sense of peace in this place.
