The Space:
Morning light spills across the wraparound deck, revealing layered ridgelines that stretch for miles. A gentle breeze carries the scent of pine as you step onto the deck, and steam rises from the hot tub against a crisp sky. As evening falls, the fire pit glows and the stars emerge over the quiet valley, inviting you to unwind beneath the night.
Sleeping arrangements
The loft‑style bedroom features a queen bed positioned to catch the early sunrise. A sleeper sofa in the living area provides additional sleeping space, comfortably accommodating up to four guests.
Living space
The open, lofted layout feels airy yet cozy, with expansive chalet‑style windows that frame the mountain scenery. A Smart TV offers streaming options, while fast Wifi and a dedicated workspace make it easy to stay connected for video calls or a movie night after a day outdoors.
Kitchen & dining
The fully stocked kitchen includes everything needed to prepare meals at your own pace. A dining nook invites you to enjoy breakfast while watching the valley awaken, or a simple dinner before gathering around the fire.
Outdoor living
Step onto the wraparound deck to soak in sweeping views from the hot tub, a perfect contrast to chilly days. The fire pit anchors evenings under the stars, and the deck provides space for grilling and taking in the quiet mountain atmosphere. The backyard opens to open space for stretching out and breathing in the natural surroundings.
Family & pet‑friendly touches
Children’s books, toys, board games, and dinnerware are provided for families. The cabin welcomes dogs, making it easy to bring a four‑legged companion, while cats are not allowed due to allergies.
Getting around & area
AWD or 4X4 is recommended, especially in winter, as side roads may be gravel, hard‑packed dirt, or steep. Nearby attractions include ATV off‑roading, the Potomac River for boating or kayaking, and expansive public lands for hiking and wildlife viewing. Most front‑wheel‑drive vehicles can access the property safely when driven slowly; low‑profile sports cars and motorcycles are discouraged. Travel insurance is advised during winter months, and refunds are not offered for road conditions beyond our control.
Perfect for
Couples, small families, or friends seeking a mountaintop retreat where nature sets the pace, far‑reaching views and a peaceful setting invite you to disconnect and recharge.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
What makes this property unique
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our chalet is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
