The minute we walked in the door we were pleasantly surprised. The kitchen was so well stocked that we were able to pull off a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner for 7 ( the 2nd oven helped). It was cold outside so we constantly had a fire blazing in the living room/kitchen. The dog had so much fun running outside around the house. And the bedrooms and bathrooms were very well thought out. The hosts thought of everything to insure our comfort. We hated to leave after 4 nights, but hopefully we will be back.

Thank you Charlotte! It was a pleasure having you stay for the holiday. We're beyond thrilled that you had such a good time. Hope to see you again in the future!!
This was a great vacation house for our family of four and the family pet. Great having a boat ramp and slip onsite as well. Would certainly recommend this house and would stay here again for sure.
John was an absolute legend of a host. Always available to answer questions or give suggestions! The house is beyond well equipped with anything you could want for your stay, it truly felt like a vacation with the level of amenity and to-do on site. The location of the house is perfect to explore various different areas and attractions along the eastern shore, if you ever want to leave the property that is! We’ll absolutely be renting again!

One of the nicer homes in which we've stayed. Well stocked and furnished, amazing view even in the winter. Owner was very easy to work with. If we stay in the area again we will absolutely go back.

Beautiful home! Incredibly clean, quiet and wonderful for families and our dog. We loved being able to kayak. The home does not feel like a vacation rental it so clean and well appointed for guests. You can tell a lot of love went into this home and we had the most wonderful time with our family.

Very well appointed and stocked spacious home, on a beautiful private property directly on the Bay. Fantastic views and sunsets. Host provides lots of recreation toys and has a excellent docking/ramp facility for convenience. Susan is committed to providing the best possible experience for her guests. Would highly recommend.

Mark, thank you so much, you and your wife were wonderful guests and I’m glad he made maximum use of the house and setting. Please come back!
This is a lovely home by the water. We enjoyed having the dock right there for our boat as well as fishing and kayaking. The house has everything you need to enjoy the area including beach equipment. The owner even provided some local places to check out for dining and a guide to the general area. We had a very hot and humid week which found us inside quite a bit but the screened porch was awesome!
We looked at many properties that were on the water, secluded, and pet friendly. No other option came close. Zero city. All views, stars, water, peace and quiet. Complete with full wrap around fence for the dogs to roam free. Perfect off season location to relax and recharge. Host was easily reachable and we had zero issues. The view from the master bedroom is incomparable.

Christopher, thanks so much for the kind review!! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and got a chance to relax and recharge. Hopefully we'll see you again in the future.
We very much enjoyed our week in Susan’s beautiful home. There were spaces to be quiet or right in the middle of family activities. We enjoyed taking the kayaks and paddle boards out for bay paddling. We also enjoyed some wonderful local seafood and sailed in Onancock. My favorite memory is seeing the Assateague ponies. The house was well appointed with everything we needed and Susan quickly answered all of our questions.
First, the house is clean, well-stocked with the comforts of home, and architecturally stunning in a classic/traditional way. The sunsets are amazing. The breezes off the bay are refreshing. The whole property has a sense of peace. As a young man, I grew up fishing the many lakes, bays and marshlands of Louisiana …. also I worked and played on my grandfather’s farm in Virginia. This plays combines the two, magnificently. My wife, our two young boys, and the dog were at ease in this wonderful place. The kitchen is a dream. Form card games, to movies, to stargazing, to exploring the bay on our boat, right from the backyard …. we truly enjoyed a special place. We loved fishing and finding island beaches. Don’t hesitate … just book it and enjoy!

Thanks Jason, we're thrilled you found the property and home as relaxing and enjoyable as we do. We certainly hope to see you again in the future.
We just rented Susan's home for a long weekend in February. It is every bit as nice as it looked online if not better, and Susan was super easy to communicate with. We traveled with my elderly father who has limited mobility issues and the set up of the house was perfect. (note there are 2 or 3 steps up from the ground to the front door which he managed) Nice bed and large standing shower with a modest threshold to enter on the first floor where there was also - the dining room with a beautiful marsh view - the kitchen shared the same marsh view so it was easy to spend time there next to a very comfortable living space. We also used the two upstairs bathrooms with an ample size bathroom for sharing. We would not hesitate to rent again. (Tip if visiting Onancock, we found driving there through Lee Mont and out to Rt 316 to be much easier especially at night as the other route has lots of twist and turns you might not navigate successful) In warm weather the stay would be even better with two great porches and direct water access.

If you are looking for a quiet, canine friendly waterfront retreat, look no further. The home and its grounds are absolutely beautiful and there is private waterfront access to the Chesapeake Bay.
My family and I were looking for a place just to get away from the noise and the hustling bustle of Fourth of July weekend. While we did not completely avoid neighbors with fireworks, the entire area was completely quiet by 10 PM. The house itself is very quiet inside. Very well built. There was plenty of space for myself, my three family members, and my dog to spread out and find a comfortable spot. The hammock in the front yard, the porch, or the Adirondack chairs by the water all make for comfortable places to relax.
As an avid kayaker, I was thrilled that this property had several boats to choose from so I did not have to bring mine from home and I found the private canal to be an amazing asset. Just throw a boat in the water and paddle out. While the water is tidal, the tides here are gentle and easy for beginner paddlers to navigate. In my 20+ years of kayaking I even managed to get my 65-year-old mother to paddle with me for the first time and she managed wonderfully.
I would be remiss if I did not mention how attentive and amazing the owners of this property are. They are very knowledgeable of the area and take great pride in their gem of a home. They really helped to make this trip truly special for myself and my family. Thank you John and Denise.

All the best,
John and Denise
I have enjoyed stays in vacation homes over many summer trips. This is the first one where I feel like I could happily return. It's not home, but it was a personal place of comfort and peace.
My spouse enjoyed the beauty of the place, especially the sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay.
My youngest teen wanted to try to catching and preparing her dinner. On night two, we had traps, bait, and an industrial stockpot courtesy of our hosts which we used to catch and cook our dinner. There was also fishing gear in the barn, but we didn't have time to use it.
Our middle daugher was entranced on the third night by stars visible the dark skies overhead as we caught sight of the annual Perseids.
On our last night, we went out with our oldest daughter in three of the many kayaks on the property. We explored the marshes and met a couple of watermen plying their trade just outside the marsh.
Never had a chance to meet our hosts, but they live only an hour away if we'd needed them. I had several questions before and during our stay. John was promptly available to answer them by VRBO, text message, and (presumably) by phone if necessary.
Three things guest should be prepared for are:
1. This home is remote, about 20 minutes from Route 13, the main highway on the Virginia Eastern Shore.
2. House wifi is great, but cell coverage is spotty.
3. The property is on a lush salt marsh, so we encountered plenty of biting insects if we went outside unprotected (in August). YMMV as that's seasonal.

Ryan, thank you for the kind review. We are thrilled that you had such a good time. Hopefully we will see you again in the future!
The house is beautiful and matched the description and photos online. I spent a lot of time reading in the screened in porch where it was so peaceful looking at the water views and hearing the birds and seeing the wildlife on the property. Susan provided a list of area attractions which was very helpful so we ventured to Chincoteague and visited the NASA visitor center on our way home. There was a launch scheduled during the week of our stay however due to weather it was postponed.
If there were any questions we had, Susan was very responsive with answers. She made sure we had everything that we needed to make our vacation enjoyable.
This is a beautiful home located on the water. The home is spacious and beautifully appointed. We celebrated our mothers 95th birthday and it was the perfect venue!
We had a wonderful long weekend at this beautiful home. Great location. Had a great time on paddle boards and kayaking. Quiet and serene.
Evenings on the screened in porch was magical.
Beautiful and clean. Susan did a wonderful job of responding if we had questions. The listing was very accurate, and we had no issues with the house or the property. Would definitely go again!
Everything was as expected. We ended up going to Assateague Beach most days by vote of the kids. The bay wasn't exciting enough for them The rental itself is amazing and every room got used. I really enjoyed the screen porch watching the deer and red-headed woodpeckers. During dinner you get to enjoy the Martins protecting against squirrels. Obviously, most sunsets were picture -worthy. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the kitchen,,, the oven and cooktop were far above any expectations for her. Our hostess was quick to reply with any questions I had.
We couldn't imagine a more delightful setting for catching up with friends for a few days. Susan has provided lovely settings for gathering with coffee in the morning, wine at night--screened porches, warm and inviting dining room with a beautiful view of the water, cozy living room adjacent the kitchen so that the conversation continues through meal prep. The decor is charming, classic, filled with paintings that echo the surrounding landscape. This was perfect for us, too, because we brought our small dogs who so enjoyed roaming free inside the picket fenced area. We mostly cooked inside, but did wander over to nearby Onancock for lunch and a bit of sightseeing. We felt so welcomed here. Everything was easy, from check-in to check-out, getting set up with WiFi, choosing what to watch on TV, cooking in the fully equipped and up-to-date kitchen. It felt more like the host had left her home for people she knows and loves rather than the complete strangers that we are to her. I've already shared the link with my daughter and other friends, assuring them of a great place to get away from it all.

What a wonderful, wonderful stay of 5 nights in June! Never really wanted to leave the property, was so special. Beautiful views, gorgeous sunsets, very well stocked kitchen, and just many places all over the house to enjoy each room’s own uniqueness and setup! We absolutely lived on the main screened-in porch. Was fun to watch the deer and rabbits from there. our host, Susan, was wonderful and very responsive to any questions, and gave us wonderful suggestions! Our family and dogs enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board. The place with the fenced-in yard was a dog’s paradise! We will definitely be returning!!! The area is a slice of paradise and a wonderful spot to just unwind.

Jacquie,
Thanks so much for the awesome review! Please come back again!
We have been here a couple of times and we love staying here. The boat ramp and docking is super convenient and the home and property are absolutely gorgeous. Our dogs love the fenced in yard and it's a short boat ride to an island where the pups enjoy swimming and playing on the beach. Susan is so easy to work with and couldn't be more attentive and responsive. We already planning our next trip back.

About the host
Hosted by John Niemiec
My wife Denise and I live in Willards MD a little over an hour away from the home. We love the outdoor lifestyle of the Eastern Shore. We enjoy fishing, crabbing and exploring the Chesapeake. We're excited to be your host for your next Eastern Shore adventure.
Why they chose this property
We found this home on VRBO several years ago and booked a stay each year. Over time we formed a warm relationship with the owner and when Susan decided it was time to sell we jumped at the chance. We love the area and its close proximity to Parksley, Onancock, Wachapreague and Chincoteague. There are countless places to eat and shop and the fishing in this area is fantastic.
What makes this property unique
The property is simply beautiful and has unobstructed views of the marsh and the Chesapeake. The home itself is warm and inviting. The woodwork, the hardwood floors and the high end finishes bring it all together in a way you will only truly understand when you stay here.
