We really enjoyed staying here! The house was decorated beautifully with lots of antiques which added an extra charm to the place. Loved how easy it was to get to Acadia and bar harbor. Can’t wait to stay there again!

Cool house. Lots of space. The bedrooms were all connected on the top floor though so we definitely woke each other up for the bathroom and to go downstairs when the kids woke up or to let the dogs out.

Had a wonderful time visiting Maine. The location of this house is great. We enjoy the quieter side of things, it was so peaceful here. 30 minutes to anywhere on the island. 30 minutes to Texans is nothing and we got to see most all of the island. Deer in the yard at night. The house had everything we needed. Be mindful the upstairs has three nice bedrooms upstairs that are all connected. This was not an issue for us, it would be great with younger kids too. The host was very patient with my questions before we arrived and responsive. Would stay there again.

Perfect for our family. A well stocked farm house with great outdoor space. Robbin is a very responsive host. You do have to walk through bedrooms to enter or exit and use the bathroom on the second floor. Great location on a quiet harbor on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island.

Beautiful home-away-from-home

This beautiful and extremely comfortable home is in the small and quiet village of Bernard. The house is very well stocked and provides an excellent night’s sleep. The wharf and an adorable library are just a 5 minute walk away. The house is 30 min from Bar Harbor and 10 minutes past SW Harbor but near delicious lobster, trails (Wonderland & Ship Harbor), and Bass Harbor Light House. The house is so welcoming and a great place to relax after a day of hiking and exploring.

Good location

This place is great as long as you go in with the right expectations - the listing is not super clear that the 4 bedrooms upstairs need to be walked through to get to the last one (there are stairs leading down to the deck from the last one) - but we knew that going in from previous reviews. The biggest negative was that all of our showers we lukewarm. Otherwise it was nice and big with tons of places to sleep, and convenient to Acadia (and walking distance to Thurston’s).

Acadia National Park trip

We lived our stay in Bernard! The house was clean and updated! The tiny harbor town was quiet and quaint! We loved Thurston’s Lobster House and it was in walking distance. Close to the Park and trailhead’s! It was such a great place to visit!

Great Spot for Family Vacation!

Had a great time with extended family! Perfect location - close to everything on MDI. Loved the deck and fire pit area. Ended every day with s’mores. Everything was clean and well stocked. Plenty of dishes, towels, toiletries, etc. Be sure to walk down to Thurston’s for dinner one night!

Roomy, updated house close to Acadia

The house was roomy for our party of 8 (including 3 kids). The washer and dryer were nice to have so that we could leave with clean clothes, and lighten our luggage. The check-in process and entry to the house were super easy, as was communication with the owner. There are 4 bedrooms, but the listing may not detail exactly that you have to go through the bedroom at the top of the steps to get to the twin bedroom, then you get to the queen bedroom, then you get to the other queen bedroom, and single bed at the end. The upstairs bathroom is found in the fourth bedroom upstairs. We were all close family that stayed in the house, so going through one bedroom to get to the other wasn't an issue at all for us at all. The house is also close to Acadia. We were only 30 minutes from the entrance to Cadillac Mountain for those who want to catch the sunrise. I really liked our stay here, and found the house very clean, well stocked, and in a great location.

Stay at Rose Cottage

Beautiful home! Layout is unusual in that you have to walk through 1 bedroom to get to the next. But, there are plenty of places to sleep. Robbin was a.great host. Backyard is great for roasting marshmallows, playing games, etc. Our family had a wonderful stay!

Great property

We had a great time staying here! The layout was a bit odd (some bedrooms required walking through other bedrooms for access) but that’s to be expected with a historic home. Basic necessities in the kitchen (coffee, powdered creamer, seasonings) which was a nice bonus. The location is close to popular trailheads at Acadia and Bar Harbor to make day trips a breeze. House was clean and tidy. Would absolutely stay here again!

Quiet Side Home

The home was very nice. I would stay here again. My wife enjoyed the detailed attention to authentic New England decor. Very clean. There’s so much to do in Acadia, I wish we could have spent more time at the property enjoying the house and the comfortable outdoor space. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful house in excellent location

Robbin was a wonderful host. We came with 10 people spanning 3 generations and had a really comfortable stay. The kids loved the fire pit for s'mores. The kitchen was the bright and well-stocked center of our stay. Keeping some toys and books in the house made the kids happy. It's clear Robbin has spent time decorating the house and the location in proximity to Acadia was a key part of our decision in selecting this property as a base for our daily outings.

Lovely Stay in Acadia

We stayed in this home for a few days mid-August to explore Acadia with our kids and dog. The location is beautiful - a quiet neighborhood right by the water. It was perfect for morning walks, and removed enough from the busy parts of the park but still accessible. The house was well stocked with linens, towels and kitchen essentials. It is so cozy and restored to perfection with beautiful taste and attention to detail. Robbin was a delight. She was attentive and incredibly helpful with recommendations in the area. I only wish we could have stayed longer! We can't wait to visit again!

I am a decorator and I love Maine! This will be my 4th house to renovate and place on rental market. I love the blue and white Coastal Decor theme. I like to make guest happy. I try to make my houses feel like home!

Why they chose this property

Bernard Maine reminds me of what you think of when you think of Coastal Maine! The cottage is located above the Harbor and 5min walk to the famous Thurston’s Lobster pound. The neighborhood is charming.

What makes this property unique

The property is located to restaurants, hiking trails, beach, shopping. Also, this side of the island is away from the crowds of Bar Harbor.
