Remote in Rocky Mountains on Continental Divide. Near biking/hiking/ATV trails.
The Granite Butte Retreat is located adjacent to the pristine Helena National Forest. Our guests say they don't want to leave!
A trail starts out the front door up a 1/3 mile incline with 600 feet of elevation gain, so it's a phenomenal daily workout with beautiful mountain views. This trail ends on an old logging road system which offers miles and miles of further hiking opportunities.
For a gentler start, another logging road originates several hundred feet from our driveway and also offers miles of hiking or ATV use. There are many options for biking on quiet roads as well.
Some remote roads can be driven by vehicle if you want to experience the forest scenery but are not able to hike.
Pet friendly policy: Our pet fee helps us prepare the property for the next guests which may have pet sensitivities. It includes: shampooing the carpet & upholstery, laundering not just duvet covers but also the protected duvet inside, and cleaning floors & surfaces twice to eliminate pet hair.

About the host

Hi. The Rockies in Montana have always held a special attraction for me. As a child, my family was up in the Rockies any time we had a break from farm work. The crisp forest smells and beautiful hikes drew me back. I'm so privileged to live in the area full time and am thrilled to share the experience with the guests who reserve our guest cabin.
Why they chose this property
This area is home to a vast network of trails used for hiking, biking and ATVs. As well, for guests who prefer a more sedate experience, most of the ATV trails can also be driven on by a vehicle. While these trails are quite primitive, 4WD/AWD is not required for most of them.
What makes this property unique
A hiking trail heads right off the deck up a mountain to an old logging road system where our guests can hike for miles, even crisscrossing with the Continental Divide Trail.
Three miles from here there is a very well stocked outfitter for through hikers on the Continental Divide where hiking boots and high performance outdoor gear can be purchased in case you forgot anything for your trip.
We are about 6 miles from an old fire lookout (Granite Butte) which provides a 360 degree scenic viewpoint.
