The Space:

You step onto the large deck and feel the scent of pine mingling with the faint crackle of the nearby fire pit, while the mountains beyond whisper promises of trailheads and quiet evenings. A gentle breeze carries the sound of birds from the surrounding forest, and the soft glow of the brand‑new hot tub invites you to unwind under a sky painted with stars. Inside, the brick fireplace flickers, casting a warm amber light that makes the cabin feel instantly like home.

**Sleeping arrangements**

Two spacious bedrooms await. The master bedroom offers a comfortable Queen bed, while the second bedroom features a Twin bunk bed, perfect for kids or extra guests. Fresh linens and plenty of storage keep the space tidy and inviting.

**Living space**

The open living area centers on a brick fireplace, creating a cozy spot for board games or a good book. A Smart TV with fast, reliable WiFi lets you stream movies or join video calls without a hitch. Electric heat and a portable AC unit keep the cabin comfortable no matter the weather outside.

**Kitchen & dining**

A fully stocked kitchen holds all the comforts of home, from cookware to coffee makers, so you can bring family recipes to life. A large dining table on the deck makes outdoor meals feel like a celebration, with a propane grill ready for barbecues amid the trees.

**Outdoor living**

Beyond the deck, a brand‑new fire pit beckons for evening s’mores, while the spacious yard offers room for outdoor games that are provided for guests. The hot tub, nestled in a private corner of the property, promises soothing bubbles after a day on the trails.

**Neighborhood & activities**

Golden Oak sits on a quiet country road just ten minutes from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, where well‑marked hiking trails wind through towering hardwoods. A short twenty‑minute drive brings you to Bryce Resort, offering skiing and snow tubing in winter, and swimming, kayaking, and golfing in summer. Local restaurants, bars, and shops add convenient options for dining and exploring.

**Family and pets**

The cabin is family‑friendly and dog‑friendly, with the owners often bringing their three children and dog along. Pets are welcome, and the yard provides a safe space for them to roam.

**Practical notes**

The unpaved road may have a few potholes, so a slow, careful drive is recommended. While the cleaning team sweeps the deck and walkways before each arrival, you may still notice leaves or pollen—nature’s gentle reminder of the cabin’s forest setting. Whether you’re chasing sunrise hikes, cozy evenings by the fire, or starlit dips in the hot tub, Golden Oak offers a welcoming retreat for every season.

We had a few minor bumps in our stay but the howst was wonderful. The property is truly in a great spot to really tap into nature! Would recommend. There was alot of stuff to do there.

We loved our stay here. The property was super clean and quiet. The hot tub and grill both worked as advertised. One thing worth mentioning is that the last mile of road in is a single lane, gravel road, that not only crosses through what appears to be a creek but is also quite steep and rocky. While we managed in a Tesla model 3, I wouldn’t advise it, particularly if it is wet.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Golden Oak in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
