My family and I came to town for a funeral. The property is as advertised. The owner was very responsive whenever we had a question about something. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
Lovely suburb outside Chicago, with all the amenities you'd need for a relaxing getaway. The area was peaceful with plenty of local restaurants and shops. I’d definitely recommend it for a cozy and convenient stay near Chicago. I had a great time!
Beautiful property with wonderful amenities. Very responsive host. Only a few concerns - tub/shower drains drained very slowly causing water to accumulate in the tub. Microwave does not heat. It powers on and turns it does not heat. Multiple light bulbs appear to be blown throughout the home. Dead insects/moths greeted us upon arrival requiring us to sweep them up.
The house is beautiful and was the location and size for our needs. We were gathering for a family funeral. With three families sleeping over, the three levels were helpful to have a separate space when needed. We chose the house for the location between other family in the western IL suburbs and Indiana, so they could join us to go thru memories after the funeral. The house is set back and very private. This house was maybe the cleanest VRBO we have used and the outdoor maintenance of the acreage was great. We did have some problems (appliances and hot water) that were promptly handled by the host. We have stayed at many VRBOs around the country and each has its own quirks. (FYI no hand towels in bathrooms and only two kitchen towels). As long as a family is flexible and the host is responsive, most stays can be a successful family trip, as this was for us.Thank you for the use of your home it is now part of our family history.
Renters Beware!!!The second night that we’re staying at the house the air conditioner went out. We immediately contacted the host once we realized. He said he would send someone out. The next day we around 1, I contacted the host, asked an eta that the house was in the high 80’s and uncomfortable, the hvac people were working them might be later. At 4pm on the second day I got a message from the host saying the hvac people said that they would come in the evening so the host said he canceled them because it would “inconvenience” us…an assumption he made on his own. I messaged him back immediately and said please do not do that, please tell them to come as it is 90’s and that was much more inconvenient. That is when the radio silence started. No response to that message. I contacted the host in the morning if they had an eta for the hvac guy, again no response. So I finally got VRBO involved, when they contacted him he finally responded at 1pm saying he JUST called the hvac people 10min previously and that they would be there in an hour, Finally at 5pm the hvac guy showed up, was there for less than 15 min, turned the system completely off and said it would be fixed after our leave. I contacted the host and ask for a refund for the 3 out of 5 nights we had no air. No response, VRBO contacted him, no response.I understand that things break, but the lack of help and to stop communicating was very disappointing and frustrating.
