Charming cottage on Long Lake; Golf course nearby, Ski & ATV trails
This 3 BR, 2 bath cabin is beautifully decorated with all the comforts of home. The cabin is located on LONG LAKE, which is a 3,300 acre lake; the largest in Washburn County. It is known for its bass and pan-fish, as well as the ever elusive, walleye. Since the Boy Scouts of America own 10-15 miles of shoreline that is undeveloped, there is a private, wilderness feeling about that part of the lake. On the other hand, visitors to the lake can enjoy the convenience of 2 marinas and several bar/restaurants along the developed side of the lake. One of our favorite activities is taking a leisurely boat ride down to one of the restaurants for lunch or supper. The lake is 18 miles long with 99 miles of shoreline, so it could take several days to explore it all!
This cabin is located on the large north bay of Long Lake which is great for water skiing, tubing and fishing. As you travel south on the lake you can enjoy the scenery of the Boy Scouts land and more good fishing areas, or stop by the sand bar for a game of volleyball.
Our cabin is one of 5 cabins in a private association called Whispering Pines, that at one time, was a traditional "mom and pop" resort. The nearly 2 acres of grounds are well maintained and the property has over 180 feet of beautiful shoreline with a nice gravel-bottom swimming area. The grounds and shoreline are shared with the 4 other cabins, but this is the only cabin within the group that is available for rent, so it may be very quiet during your rental week. You enjoy all the amenities at Whispering Pines, including a fish-cleaning house with running water and a refrigerator for your bait. There's a basketball hoop for shooting baskets, horse shoe pits, a campfire ring overlooking the lake, a second campfire ring right next to the cabin, and a wonderful shoreline deck that's perfect for early morning coffee or for watching the kids swim. There is a large guest dock that you may use to moor your boat.
You will enjoy seeing a variety of wildlife; eagles, osprey and loons are common on the lake. Try and spot the eagles nest on waters edge just south of this property. There is a county forest located across the road with hiking, cross country skiing and ATV trails. A bait shop (and much more) is located just down the road, and Butternut Hills Golf Course is only 3 miles away. The town of Stone Lake is 6 miles east of the cabin with shops, restaurants, and wine shop. The conveniences found in HAYWARD, SPOONER, AND RICE LAKE, are all less than 30 minutes away by car.
This cabin has been tastefully remodeled for your full enjoyment. The master bedroom has a king bed, it's own bath and satellite TV. One guest room has a queen bed and the other guest room has two twin beds. The cabin has a large kitchen adjoining a very nice family room with a large flat screen TV, Dish satellite service, and DVD player. The cabin has WiFi internet service. A washer and dryer are conveniently tucked into a corner of the kitchen.
Enjoy the lake and the many area activities and then relax back at the cabin with all the amenities you enjoy at home.

Check in was a breeze, kitchen had everything we needed, cottage was very clean, beds were comfy, plenty of towels in bathrooms, surroundings are great, Stone Lake is a short drive and has a Dollar General, which came in handy, the lake was great, just a great place to stay!Sherry is a great lady to work with!
We had a quiet and relaxing week stay. We found many things in the area to do. We saw some eagles up close and one even landed within 20 feet of us, it was huge. We had fun fishing off the dock, caught many panfish on a cane pole.Calm and relaxing.
We had a great time staying here with the family. Lots if great amenities and the fireplace was super fun. Our girls loved the games and having a tv in their room.
Very clean and well maintained property with everything you need
Host was very friendly and helpful with everything.
The lake is beautiful.
We will definitely stay here again
Cabin was clean and comfortable for our family of four. Great dock to keep our boat in the water for our entire stay. Nicest fish cleaning house I’ve ever used.
Very clean (and I'm picky!) and organized cottage. Stocked with all the kitchen tools and equipment we needed to prepare our meals. Good water pressure and hot water in showers. Pontoon to rent made our visit even better.
Very clean , has everything you need. Which is not always true for rentals. Cabin feel decorations . Long lake is a great lake .

Great cabin on Long Lake
You can't go wrong if you rent this cabin on Long Lake. The owners, Sherry and Vern are wonderful people and were very accommodating. They supplied everything you will need for your stay other than clothes and food. The short walk to the lake is easy and the deck looking out over the lake was a great spot to relax. The bear that my boys got to see come up to the deck was an added bonus also. I have stayed at several VRBO's and this one was by far the best .I only hope we can stay longer next time!

We appreciate the kind comments our renter has made, but their recommendation that our cabin would suitable for people with pets was an error. We do not accept pets.
Sherry was very accommodating from the beginning. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked along with room for us to keep our groceries. We were able to keep our boat at the dock all week, and with our extension cord my husband could charge his trolling motor there. Beds were extremely comfortable, and we were glad there was air conditioning on some warmer days. We enjoyed fishing and loved docking at the sandbar and playing volleyball. Our whole family had a great time!
We had a great week at this house. It's very comfortable. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, etc. Great washer & dryer. Great water pressure. Great beds. WiFi worked well. Living area cozy. Owner is easy to reach and responsive. Possibly only downside is that in the little group of houses this one is closest to the road and farthest from the lake. You have a slice of a view of the lake. Walking distance to county's X-C ski trail and easy drive to bird sanctuary.

Delightful cabin - wonderful week!
My husband and I, along with family from Colorado, spent a wonderful week at Sherry and Vern's cabin on Long Lake. The cabin was amazingly clean, well-stocked and felt like home!! We enjoyed the short stroll in the morning down to the lake with our coffee, and meeting the other residents of the area. Sherry and Vern were very accommodating, helping us with the logistics of getting our kayaks situated at the dock. We had a minor problem, Sherry came right out and took care of it. The four of us would definitely stay here again. There was nothing the cabin lacked that we wanted or needed, from coffee to pots and pans, games and comfy beds. If you are looking for a Northwoods get-away, this is it!!
This is a very nice property supplied with everything we needed. It is very clean and well maintained. Past the counter of the well supplied kitchen, there is a large but cozy room with a big table and chairs, comfortable couch and recliners. There was a deck with table, chairs and grill but we didn't get time to use it, maybe next time.
The dock worked out well for our boat. A few steps above the dock was a nice sitting area/ deck for viewing the beautiful lake.
We had great communication with Sherry and she was there when we arrived to show us the property and how everything worked from the door locks to the washer and dryer. She even took me to the boat landing in her car so we wouldn't have trouble locating it for our boat launch.
I wish that we could've stayed longer but we're glad that we had the chance to check it out for future vacations. We defintely would recommend it to anyone.

Cozy, immaculate cabin with many activities provided.
The owners gave very accurate directions to their cabin and the pictures accurately reflected their cabin and surroundings, but we were disappointed to see other cabins in front of this rental which did not give us a a good view of the lake. There was a nice deck right down by the water though so we were still able to enjoy spending time next to the lake. There was a nice dock for our boat and also a boathouse to store our boating things in which made it convenient when going out boating and fishing.
The owners were very accommodating and and gave us ideas of eating places on the lake, activities in the area and all the cabin furnishings were provided except beach towels and food. The cabin was decorated beautifully and a TV was in each bedroom and family room with many movies, games, puzzles and books available for our use. We ate at Props and Greeners right on the lake and would recommend them to others. We also enjoyed grilling and eating our meals at the cabin.
Outdoor activities provided were basketball, bocce ball, croquet, horseshoes, campfire ring, hiking paths and swimming. The grounds were clean and well maintained and the walk to and from the lake were good exercise for us. Our granddaughters enjoyed fishing from the dock catching pan fish.
I would recommend this rental to anyone. It is beautiful and is certainly a "labor of love" for the owners, one they should be proud to rent.

As a traveler, we would ask you to please read through the VRBO descriptions we have provided; we are very straight forward about the view, location, and amenities of the cabin. We want our guests to be as happy at our cabin as we are, when we're there. An advantage of our property, compared to many others on Long Lake, is that we have a very gentle slope to the lake, and less than 20 steps to reach the water, and while the cabin sits back a ways, we have a fabulous deck right on the shoreline that provides spectacular views of the lake. Long Lake is a very deep lake, and most properties sit extremely high with several dozen stairs required to reach the lake.
The property was very clean, comfortably furnished, and wonderfully decorated. Sherry, the owner, stayed in contact the whole time and the check in process was easy. She even made a trip to the location to explain the details of the pontoon operation. There was no way the stay could have been improved. It was well worth the price we paid.
This is a awesome cabin on Long Lake. The kitchen has anything and everything you might need, with a really nice grill on the deck to go with it. The bedrooms and living room are furnished nicely and very clean, plus 2 bathrooms is a very nice bonus. The wifi was very helpful as there wasn't any cell service in the cabin. There's plenty to do around the cabin for kids - a swingset, slide, sandbox, basketball hoop, horseshoes, plus the lake itself. There's also a very nice deck right on the lake, which is a beautiful place to sit and talk, read or just relax and enjoy the view. All in all, a great cabin that I would definitely recommend staying in if you're looking to stay in the area.
For a family of 4 on a too cold weekend, it was a perfect little get away for movies, crafts, baking, and being cozy together. The cabin is probably the cleanest and most organized property I’ve stayed at. Sherry is an excellent host, communicates well, and is easy to reach. She prepared us very well on property instructions as well as the cabin having clear instructions on everything. Due to it being so cold, we only ventured out for a quick walk and to the grocery store. We are very happy with our experience!
We rented on the last minute due to a family emergency. We could have not asked for a better host. The cabin worked perfect for us. The set up is great and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was clean. I loved the peacefulness of the morning on the dock by the water. Morning sunrises were beautiful.
Best stocked cabin we’ve ever been to. Clean and organized. Sherry was so great and thorough! We kept our boat at the dock and did a 25-30 minute boat ride to the sandbar and restaurants. Caught a 22 inch walleye too! We also caught lots of smaller fish right right off of the dock too!

About the host
Hosted by Sherry
Both my husband and I have lived in Wisconsin most of our lives. We currently live about 80 miles away from our beloved Long Lake, but close enough should any service issues arise during your stay.
Why they chose this property
We started enjoying Wisconsin's lovely northwoods as a young couple with small children. At first, we camped with a tent, then upgraded to a tent trailer, then a larger camper, and then a 5th wheel camper, complete with slide outs. After 15 years of camping on and around beautiful Long Lake, we knew it was the place for us. Long Lake is one of the most spectacular lakes in Northwest Wisconsin, with crystal clear water and just the right combination of wilderness and development. We bought our cabin here, because we wanted to enjoy the lake year round.
