About this property
Fish Hike or Bike in Comfort on the South Island of New Zealand
Rod and Wheel House offers superior accommodation for up to 6 people in a self contained house set in its own private garden. It has 4 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms and has been completely renovated to a very high standard. It is family friendly and suitable for sporting groups. Plush furniture, comfortable beds, warm carpets and thick curtains make the house a restful and enjoyable place to stay. Complimentary wireless internet, Sky or Cable TV and DVD library are also included. A wood burning combustion stove and reverse cycle air conditioning makes the house warm and cosy. An outdoor dining area is also a great place to relax after a day touring Southland.
The house is fully fenced and surrounded by its own landscaped garden. It is also only a short walk to town services and facilities, including a supermarket with a bottle shop and ATM, pharmacy, Post Office, liquor shop, Pub and a number of cafe's.
Rod and Wheel House is next door to Oreti River House. Both houses sit within their own fenced and hedged sections of land. They can be booked separately or together. Oreti River House has a very large established garden and surrounding lawns. Rod and Wheel House also has landscaped gardens - native New Zealand plants in the front and flowers and herbaceous shrubs in the back. It offers a self contained style of holiday house and is only booked to one party. A House Manager lives nearby to help with keys and answer any questions about the house facilities and services. Meal options include preparing your own in the large modern kitchen ( a well stocked supermarket is nearby) or eating out at the Whistle Inn which is walking distance from the house.

About the host
Hosted by Marina and Roger Lindsay

The owners have had 25 years experience with owning and managing property on the shores of Lake Jindabyne in the Snowy Mountains region of Australia. They now bring their love of fly fishing, gardening and alpine habitat to Rod and Wheel House in New Zealand.
Why they chose this property
Rod and Wheel House was purchased in 2013 and is adjacent to Oreti River House. Both houses offer self contained accommodation in a private garden setting in a beautiful part of New Zealand. Both houses have been renovated to a very high standard and offer superior levels of comfort and privacy in the friendly town of Lumsden. The town offers fabulous brown trout fishing, excellent off road cycling, is near to some of New Zealand Great Walks and Conservation Areas and is close to many beautiful sightseeing spots.
What makes this property unique
Rod and Wheel House offers a memorable summer or winter destination for guests requiring something tranquil, cosy and comfortable. It is only one hours drive from Queenstown, Te Anau or Invercargill and provides quality accommodation for visitors interested in a wide range of sporting and tourist activities. A unique place to stay on the South Island of New Zealand surrounded by spectacular rivers and scenery. The house is very snug and offers a real home away from home. We have tried to include many special comfort items such as complimentary WiFi and lots of DVD's. We have high quality kitchen features and very comfortable beds and couches. Enjoy the beautiful South Island of New Zealand while staying in a really well appointed and welcoming home.
