The Blue Farmhouse: a quiet place to relax and enjoy the country life!
Gather your loved ones or wedding party at this quiet country home that has been updated for your comfort while retaining its 1920's character. Conveniently located 2 miles from Livengood's Wedding Barn and only 10 miles from the mighty Mississippi River, Great River Trail, 7 miles from Timberlake Playhouse and 15 miles from the Rhythm Section Amphitheater. There's plenty of parking and room for boat trailers and toy haulers. Come to the country and enjoy the large yard and open sky as far as you can see.
There’s room for ten guests with four bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. A full size crib is available, on request. You will have a full size, well equipped kitchen to make your meals or heat up a snack. Off the kitchen is the original pantry that holds some extra supplies for you to use during your stay, as well as an iron, ironing board and clothes steamer.
Two updated full bathrooms along with mirrors in most bedrooms make it easier for multiple people to get ready for a wedding or hanging out with friends. The bathrooms are stocked with fluffy towels, blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a generous stock of toilet paper. The main floor bath has a first aid kit, should you need it. Also on the main floor is a full size washer and dryer available for you to use at no additional cost.
The front of the house has a large, enclosed porch that is unheated, not air conditioned but is a great place to sit and feel the breeze through all of the windows and listen to the sounds of the country. Outside there is a huge yard with a fire pit, firewood, patio set, charcoal grill and electric black stone grill for your use. There are some outdoor toys for the little ones in the garage, as well.
The garage is used for storage only, no parking vehicles inside. There are several buildings on the property that are great backdrops for photos but are not to be entered by guests. The property is part of an active farm so you might even see a tractor or combine during your stay, so please leave the driveway passable, just in case.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
You can just leave the beds you have used unmade. I prefer to sort the laundry as I strip them. Please take out any stinky (or potentially stinky) trash.
Please leave any dirty dishes in the kitchen sink or dishwasher and any used towels in the bathrooms. I will handle the rest! Thank you!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
For your safety, please do not enter the barns or machinery that is on the property.
When parking, please leave the driveway open to the machine shed. We occasionally have to get machinery out and don’t want to bother guests to do so.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Vos
I am a retired nurse so when this house came with the farm it was an opportunity for me to continue to care for others. I enjoyed doing the updates (a lot of them myself!) that this house needed and love sharing it with others. I like to bake so it isn't unusual to find goodies on the counter at check in or on the porch during your stay. When I'm not busy hosting, we enjoy spending time with our family, farming and bicycling.
Why they chose this property
We live just 2.5 miles from this house and didn't really plan to get into hosting. This house had such a great feeling when we walked in that we knew we had to find a purpose for her. The house had been sitting empty for several years after the elderly lady that had lived there passed. The house and the yard needed some love and updates to make it comfortable for modern families. Returning the yard to the beautiful flowers and butterfly sanctuary of the previous owner is this year's project.
What makes this property unique
The house has a comfortable feeling from the moment you walk in. It feels like home. No one has ever painted the original woodwork in the home. We were able to update it without moving a single wall. We even kept the grate in the dining room that looks down into the original coal furnace that heated the whole house back in the day! No worries--we installed new forced air furnaces and central air. There's a huge yard with a fire pit that you can sit around and watch the sunset on the hills of corn between you and the Mississippi River.
