About this property

Hotel Lager House in Corktown, Detroit

Hotel Lager House is on Michigan Ave. upstairs from the legendary Lager House, a music bar and restaurant. This large loft space is a great getaway for a couple and is comfortable for up to six people. ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES. Thank you for your understanding.'

The loft has exposed brick walls, hardwood floors and tall ceilings which gives this newly renovated 1200 sq. ft. loft a very spacious feel.

There is a private bedroom with a traditional queen bed, a second queen bed in the main room a fold down couch that opens into a full sized bed. There is a sectional couch that separates and can be slept on comfortably.

There is a full kitchen with gas stove & oven, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. There are dishes, silverware and glasses for 4 people.
The bathroom is new with a walk in shower and towels are provided.

The space offers guests a truly authentic Detroit experience... but remember, THE BAR LOCATED DOWNSTAIRS CLOSES AT 2AM. THERE IS SOME SOUNDPROOFING, BUT DO NOT EXPECT THE SPACE TO BE COMPLETELY QUIET. The loft is intended for the use of those who have reserved it. It is not to be used for parties or gatherings of more than the reserved number of guests. If you have questions, contact the owner prior to making you reservation.

There is a lot of history in this 1914 structure, but it has all the amenities. The kitchen island was built from salvaged Detroitus, including the island top pieced from a demolished high school gym’s basketball court. Flooring throughout came from the historic Hudson’s department store that was imploded in 1998.

It has potential

The place is perfectly located (yes, it's over a bar so if you want to sleep early this is not for you). The apartment is really cool and has a lot of potential, however when we got there the place was clearly still the same way the prior guests left it so that was gross. The place was not cleaned prior to us arriving and the beds were not made. We got in touch with the property manager who was quick to send someone to change the bedding, however at the end of the day the place was not cleaned.

A Great Crash Spot for the Unassuming

We stayed in the Lager House loft with our two sets of twins, ages seven and nine. The loft was as described, outside of a detail or two. Those inconsistent details didn’t affect the trip, so it doesn’t affect our scores. Here’s the deal: it’s not exactly the best place to take kids. We knew this, so we were prepared. It is also not the best spot for people looking for a normal hotel stay. During our one-night visit, the Corktown Music Festival was happening. You will definitely hear the bands, if they are playing in the bar area. Given that, I'm happy to report my kids slept like royalty.Seriously, a really cool spot for open and adventurous folks. Will keep this spot in our rolodex of places to stay when we're on staycation in the city.
